I’m annoyed because I ordered a preorder at the beginning of August and it’s no where to be found, was supposed to have shipped already. And not one word from the business about it. While, they had no issue billing my CC immediately ( super immediately ). I feel that communicating with customers about where things are is just good business practice but no, crickets.....
It was my first time ordering from this small business and it may well be the last time. While I understand somethings are out of a business owners control, communication is not one of those things. I really do not appreciate the lack of communication.
Not happy one bit the product was not at all inexpensive either.
Business owners COMMUNICATE with your customers it’s really bad practice not to.

It’s so frustrating when you don’t get a response. A simple acknowledgement of the problem helps. I hope it gets straightened out soon. I can’t blame you for not shopping there again.

I feel like this is kind of a "business life lesson"...why is the communication piece so hard? Just an email to you would be nice, letting you know where things are at and why.

A real business wouldn't bill until they ship. Cancel the billing.

A real business wouldn't bill until they ship. Cancel the billing. Actually, I have known plenty of businesses that charge first, ship later. It’s the non-response to your email that gives me concern. Ignoring customer inquiries about missing items is definitely not acceptable. I would try calling, if there is a phone number for them. Be polite, but let them know you need information on your package. If you can’t find a phone number for them, I would email them again. Either way, let them know that if you still don’t get an answer or your missing items from them, you will contact your credit card company and insist that they reverse the charge, since you never received what was promised. If they have actually shipped it, and it is long overdue due to shipping delays, you can report it as a lost or missing package, but only after a month has passed from the time of shipping.

I ordered some scrap supplies from a small company. After three weeks I emailed. I did get a response and there were a lot of excuses, but in the end, she said she was dealing with a sick parent and her dog dying. She seemed pretty open and apologetic and since these things weren't life and death for me, I just responded it was okay and I got them in three days. I personally think she just forgot about my order and was dealing with these things. I am willing to forgive some mistakes when people acknowledge the mistake and make it right. Having someone not respond to me would not go over well with me. I certainly wouldn't stop shopping from small businesses though. I like supporting small businesses- especially women run businesses.

hop2 , have you emailed them and they haven't responded, or are you just frustrated that they haven't proactively told customers about delay (or both)? And has it shipped to you, but gotten lost, or still hasn't even shipped from the company to you? (I can't quite tell and I think I'm reading your post differently from some others. A real business wouldn't bill until they ship. Cancel the billing. Actually, I have known plenty of businesses that charge first, ship later. For all other classes (except express with a guaranteed delivery time), it's fourteen days. Also, here's a link to the Federal Trade Commission page about being billed for merchandise you've never received. What's interesting to me is that it seems that not billing until shipping is not a law but an "industry practice" that is determined by your card issuer. (The page says that "Some credit card issuers make an exception to the general industry rule against sellers charging before shipping if the seller tells you about its practice at the time of sale.")

They haven’t said anything I did email but no response I did not get a shipping notice Have you emailed them more than once? One email might have been overlooked accidentally. More than one email receiving no response is a pattern. I still think you should try to find a phone number for them and give them a call. Even assuming that it ships tomorrow after you call them, it may take awhile to wend its way through the postal system. Regardless of what it says on the post office web site, some packages are taking far longer than usual.
