I thought we needed a positive post. So tell me what's on your fun list for this weekend?
Jeremy's kids are coming this weekend. They haven't been here since Father's Day weekend. His three girls are bringing two cousins and a boyfriend so we will have a house full of kids. I've decided to get my Halloween decorations out. Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. So I'm going to enjoy my decorations a bit longer than usual this year. I just figured they make me happy, so why not? And I've decided to get over to Michael's this evening and I'm going to buy the kids some of those fake pumpkins and some glow in the dark paints and googly eyes and just fun stuff and let the kids decorate pumpkins so I can display them. The kids are getting older but I still feel like they would enjoy some holiday crafts.
Other than that, I plan to scrapbook this weekend as I'm participating in the Sketchtember challenge over on the GS board. I will cook some good food this weekend. The kids have requested lasagna (which is one of my specialties) and beer can chickens (which is one of Jeremy's favorite meals to make). I will also do some baking and make some oatmeal chocolate chip bars. Baking always makes me happy. The kids will be happy too.
What simple joys are you looking forward to this weekend?

jeremysgirl that sounds like a fun weekend! Hopefully our weather stays nice. We're going to visit DD this weekend. I'm going to be extra nice to everyone I come into contact with. I'm always polite. It's time to ramp it up to help get rid of negativity.

Great post! I am going to outside lunch on the Connecticut River today with a friend and then to a farmer's market (and maybe a short ferry ride).
Tomorrow putting a new floor down at my daughters.
Sunday breakfast (outside again) with a few friends (socially distanced) we have been doing this since April, and football starts for my son and husband. Meeting another friend I haven't seen in a while for coffee (of course socially distanced outside).

I hope you have a lovely and fun weekend jeremysgirl! I'm getting out into nature this weekend - we're camping about 15 minutes from home in a beautiful state park with some nice trails and a little lake. It's always peaceful and I love just being outside. As a bonus, DH stays overnight at the campground and I come home to take care of the pups (one of them will not get in the camper and we don't presently have a dog sitter). I get the bed and tv to myself and some quality time cuddling on the couch with the pups. I might even treat myself to a nice glass of wine each night!

I have made it my mission to send out at least five compliments a day on facebook. Sure does make it nicer. I get to have puppy kisses Puppy kisses are the best! then to a farmer's market That's one thing I have totally missed this summer is the Farmer's market. I hope you enjoy yourself and find some fun things there. I'm getting out into nature this weekend - we're camping about 15 minutes from home in a beautiful state park with some nice trails and a little lake. This sounds so peaceful. I'm glad you're getting away a bit. It's good for the soul. I'm visiting my daughter and family by the beach, and who can be unhappy at the beach?? I certainly am never unhappy by the beach. I find water so calming.

I’m just going to enjoy my garden by revamping an area and moving some stuff. I am of the black thumb variety. But I love when others garden beautifully. I wish I had that talent. Sunday will be relaxing with friends at a physically distanced bbq. This sounds so wonderful. I don't know about your area, but the weather in Michigan has just been so perfect lately. It's just so pleasant right now. I love fall. We are having all 6 grandkids spend the night Saturday. They range in age from 8 down to 2. It will be total chaos but I love when they can all get together. Oh, that is going to be a fun time for sure! I hope you're well rested this week for the chaos that will ensue at your house on Saturday! I cannot wait to be a grandma. We’ll be watching college football! I miss college football for sure. Happy early birthday!!!

We’ve got a week of nice weather in store so I’m trying to make the most of outdoor activities before the cold drives us inside. Meeting a friend down at the lake this afternoon and then dinner outside at a new Himalayan restaurant in town with DH. Now my pile of masks for DH is done, I have to refocus on our bathroom remodel that Covid sidelined, finalize the details and finishes, so we can reconnect with contractors, and making a inspiration board for some landscaping work we want to do over the next few years.

I will be indoors due to the smoke. I spent 10 hours last weekend making a sunburst weave basket with macrame rope. I am going to attempt another one and think it will be better with all that I learned! I got a doormat from Ikea and am going to do a Heidi Swapp paint / stencil (it’s going to say I hope you like plants) I picked up some buttermilk when I was at the store this week & will be making a scotch cake (it tastes great/super sweet & it will make my house smell delicious with the cinnamon)! I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Tonight I have plans to ride my peloton after work with online friends. Then I’m just going to have a relaxing evening doing whatever I want.
I haven’t made plans yet for Saturday- dd1 and I were going to hike on Mount rainier but the smoke makes that unlikely now. Dh and I may start a home project instead which is fun for us.
Sunday is football! Dd1 is coming over (she and I both have fantasy teams through work) and we are all going to make our own pizzas and have margaritas and brownies.
And our course the whole weekend I will love on my dogs. Xoxo 😂❤️

I'm seeing my best friend this wkend. We haven't seen each other in a year. This would usually be our girls wkend at a huge craft fair, but it's cancelled, but we are still getting together. Do some shopping and go out ot eat. We will be safe and mask, etc, but we need to do something. Neither one of us has gone anywhere basically since March.

dinner outside at a new Himalayan restaurant in town with DH This sounds interesting. I'm not sure I know what Himalayan food is. But I'm an adventurous eater so I'm certainly curious. I spent 10 hours last weekend making a sunburst weave basket with macrame rope. I am going to attempt another one and think it will be better with all that I learned! Oh, please post pictures on the craft thread. I would really like to see. And our course the whole weekend I will love on my dogs. Xoxo 😂❤️ Pets are the best. My three are spoiled beyond measure. I will be enjoying a quiet house I know just how much you are going to enjoy that. Probably just as much as I will enjoy my busy house this weekend. I'm seeing my best friend this wkend. A year is a long time to go without seeing each other. I hope you enjoy your girl time.

Saturday is our 33rd wedding anniversary. Between COVID and the wildfires/smokey air all over Washington, we've decided to just stay home. DH has a project he is working on in his shop and I plan to play in my scrapbooking room all weekend. My DH built my scrapbook room in one corner of his shop so it's kind of like we are spending our anniversary togethger, right?

I will be taking my youngest back to start her second year of university tomorrow. It is my Alma mater so I am always happy to return. I love donairs (seasoned meat in a pita with a sweet sauce - if you come to the Maritimes you must have one!)) and my absolute fave is in a hole in a wall pizza joint there that has not updated one iota since I graduated 30 years ago. On the drive home the next day SO and I will likely stop at a waterfowl park to indulge our photography hobby.

Tonight is Date Night for DH & I - we are going to my favorite Italian place that has great wine. I am so excited! Tomorrow I am scrapbooking and will be home for the first weekend in awhile. I am going to be putting some meat in the crockpot for BBQ sandwiches and the house is already clean. So I can veg and scrapbook without worry!
Edit: welp, date night is now off. DH isn't feeling well and actually came home from work early. So more scrapbook time for me tonight!

I cut pieces for 15 cards last night from one of those "cut up four sheets of paper" programs. I made one of the cards. I think I'm going to make it my mission to use a different stamp set on each of the 15 cards. Should be a fun way to touch some of my stamp sets that I haven't touched for a while.

I’m hoping it will have cooled down and hopefully the air quality from the fires isn’t too bad so I can get some serious cleaning done around the house. We have a third bedroom we have always called “the nursery” but it is also the dumping ground for EVERYTHING since getting pregnant took a lot longer than either of us imagined. So now that I’m out of the first trimester fatigue and sickness it is time to tackle that room.
I already got storage bins for things I want to keep but I only got two so the majority of stuff needs to find a new home. Big cleaning and organizing projects always make me happy, especially the shower once I’m finished.
Also planning on FaceTiming with my grandparents. My grandpa had a pretty big surgery this week to hopefully fix some things that were going on and he’s getting released from the hospital later today. I so badly wish I could go see him in person. The new baby coming is what’s keeping him holding on, he was in a lot of despair before I told him and now he feels like he has something to live for.

This a fun thread, I like hearing what others have planned. I am also going to decorate my mantle for Halloween! I feel same as you jeremysgirl, going to extend the season a bit. Since work-from-home, I take a couple hours after work on Friday to get some general cleaning done, so I have the weekend to do more projects and such. I am planning on making a stromboli and buffalo chicken salads for Saturday night dinner. Then my parents are coming over to watch football on Sunday, have a nice meal and relax. Hopefully in between I will get some scrapbooking done and continue the HP marathon I started last weekend. I also have some vinyl projects I may get into. Also cut some flowers from the garden and change out arrangements. hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Saturday is our 33rd wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary!!! I will be taking my youngest back to start her second year of university tomorrow. It is my Alma mater so I am always happy to return. How fun that she attends *your* school! I would love to have my children attend my alma mater. So I can veg and scrapbook without worry! This is what I want to do too. Will you be the online crop on Sunday? I just read about it this morning and I think I can make it for a little bit. I think I'm going to make it my mission to use a different stamp set on each of the 15 cards. Should be a fun way to touch some of my stamp sets that I haven't touched for a while. I love digging around in old crafty things and putting them to new use! The new baby coming is what’s keeping him holding on, he was in a lot of despair before I told him and now he feels like he has something to live for. Oh wow! How lucky you are your grandfather is still living and may get to meet his great grandchild. I will say my prayers that everything works out this way. I am also going to decorate my mantle for Halloween! I feel same as you jeremysgirl, going to extend the season a bit. I agree. I may even put my Christmas tree up early November. Just because...it makes me happy. Picking up youngest grandsons from school this afternoon and taking them home for the night. I want to do some kind of craft with them as we have pine cones everywhere. Some swimming too as the water is so warm. Swimming at grandma's house sounds like so much fun!

We’re on a substitute weekend away in Yorkshire, north England - we should have been in the Maldives 😉 but, ya know....Covid and stuff 😏 But we‘ve had afternoon tea at the famous Betty’s tea rooms then checked in to the hotel and Dh had a lovely bouquet in the room for me 💕 as it’s our 30th anniversary 😊

This weekend is my mother-in-law’s memorial service. She passed away two weeks ago and her decline throughout the last few months during everything else going on was very hard.
Her service will be at the lake community we loved as a family and have spent time at every year. So we will celebrate her life and search for beach glass on the shore which is one of my favorite things to do in one of my favorite places.
This weekend is a perfect example of cultivating joy in the middle of heartbreak and carrying them both at the same time.
