Big or small, what would you like to improve in your home after COVID, when you can shop freely or have workers inside?
For me, I desperately need new carpet in our bedrooms.

I want to finally get the circuit breaker fixed so I can use my stove/oven again - it's been a long, long time and I'm SO over cooking with small appliances

We want to redo our deck, make a portion of it covered and create an outdoor living area. Even if we could find someone to do the work this year, decking material is non-existent.

We really need to replace our deck boards, but prices for treated lumber are ridiculously high right now due to high demand and supply shortages. Hoping they will come down in the spring?

It's outside work that is the problem here. It's amongst the only work that is allowed to carry on at the moment, so of course it is in high demand and all the tradesmen are booked solid. We need the wall at the top of our garden to be rebuilt, and the gate post and its wall need repairing. But that's going to take a loooong time to arrange.

I hear you on the decking material. My parents have 2 decks that need replacing. Their contractor can't source the material right now.

My friend was telling me about replacing a few boards on his deck recently and the price he had to pay. I had no idea!
We plan to rip up all the carpet and put down a luxury vinyl plank at least over the first floor. I’d love to do the upstairs too, but we may have to wait on that.

I pulled the rest of my carpet up from my main floor and put down vinyl plank last year. I love it. I don't know if it's the plank itself that really is that great or the fact that it is a hard surface because the carpet is gone!

We want to build out under our house, I guess it is like a walkout basement? We are built on a hillside and there are 2 floors that are wall framed out with foundation and dirt. We want to finish out a floor to add more space. The current office is now where dh is working full time and it is also where all our exercise stuff is. Before it wasn't a problem because he never worked in there, but now that he is working in there full time it would be nice for him to have his own space. Also, my sewing stuff is all in one of our bedrooms and our youngest is almost old enough that her being in the crib in our master closet isn't going to last that much longer. So we would be adding a workout room, a sewing/craft room, a media room, a mini-kitchen, wine cellar, a guest room, and some needed storage.

We’ve had workmen and delivery men in our house. Back in April we had to have an exterminator 👎. We have a painter coming to do an estimate on Monday.
We currently are redoing older dd’s room. After that I want to redecorate younger dd’s room.

We just did a huge exterior project (started in January and finished in July with some pandemic stalls): replaced all of our huge outdoor redwood decking, all siding on house, roof and fencing.
We still need: Exterior lighting installed (I have the boxes sitting in my entry)
We need to paint our bedroom and a couple other rooms. Ideally I also want to redo our hall bathroom. I did it about 10 years ago and it has never worked. I would also love to do some wallpaper, either an accent wall in our bedroom or in the hall bathroom.

Moving hopefully. Our 1 year plan is to have our house up for sale by the end of 2021 and get out of California for good.

We're in the middle of having our siding replaced, and probably new gutters because the old ones are going to look really bad next to the new siding...

We’ve always had plans to redo the master bathroom and the upstairs flooring. We may try to do that in the next year or two. Only thing really holding us back is that I don’t want to have move out everything. Lol.
Right now we are making arrangement to have our landscaping done. They are so busy it is taking three weeks to just get an estimate. I expect he probably can’t start work until October at the earliest.

Well I've had a plumber in with no concerns...other than needing to replace the two toilets, if I had the money, I'd turn my basement into a craft/living room area

My builder had been here the last week putting up a fabulous garden building, which we have named the BFH. (Big Fancy Hut). 😊 He’s coming back in a few weeks to put decking all around it. We also had a discussion about all the work he’s going to do indoors once our local lockdown is lifted. I’m getting built in bookcases in my living room, new flooring, and he’s on the lookout for a big chunk of oak for a mantelpiece. Then I’ll have a break before doing the bedrooms!

I need to re-do both bathrooms and the carpet needs to come up in all 3 bedrooms. Also need new windows. Was planning on doing this but then COVID happened and I don’t want people in my house right now.

We actually have an extensive list of things to do inside and outside. We want to refi the house and get a home equity loan to cover the construction cost. We cannot get any contractor to even call us back to get a quote. We are prepared to drop a lot of $$$ for this work. I don't think we will ever actually get the work done.
We want to redo 3 bathrooms Pave our circle drive resurface the enter exterior build a pool building/pool

We have been staring at a dust/weed pile since Feb/March, with money in hand, and looks like we will have to wait until next spring to get it going. It sucks!! Good luck with your project!

I need to finally do something about my hardwood floors. Some areas are damaged and some areas are good as new but there is enough damage now that I think it is time to do something. They are prefinished hardwood that can be refinished once, so I was told. I suspect though that they really can't be refinished and I'm looking at replacing them. If I replace I'll likely use some type of manufactured flooring that will be easier to clean. We also need to repaint the downstairs.

We got help from my BIL in our basement. We did some re-configuring with doors. There is now three doors in a hallway off to the side of the family room! One at each end and one in the middle. The best part is my son's swing is now in the family room. BIL had to go back to being a principal, but we'll eventually put a casing around the opening, trim around doors, and extend the laminate floor. No rush, I'm ecstatic to have things blocked! We did paint the new area Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore (but bought at Sherwin Williams because of a discount we got). Hoping to paint the main areas of the house that color.
My husband is going to replace a lot of boards on our deck and stain them. Quite the saga today with him and customer service concerning the correct length of screws he ordered.
My dream list of improvements
-desperately need carpet in three of the bedrooms too. -Flooring in the laundry and a space for storing vacuums and mops -patch and repaint in my son's room -repaint the entire house -paint kitchen cabinets -paint bathroom cabinets -update medicine cabinets -built in storage along one wall in the living room -more shelving in the basement -make one side of the lower basement all mine
*If anyone has suggestions of a tub that fits in a standard sized bathroom but holds more water, let me know. My master bathroom is tiny. We can't go any wider, but taller perhaps?

Would a walk in tub work? I don't know much about them, but they look bigger and I think are designed to fit the same space as a regular tub. My only concern with them is you have to sit in the tub freezing as the water drains out before you can walk out again.

I do prefer that more. I'd like to put it in all the bedrooms.
