Did you mean to say we weren’t hugging it melodramatically or using it as a security blanket? pixiechick BTW manhandling the flag is NOT appropriate! I’ve also seen the “patriots” fly flags in their yard that have a picture of trump over the American flag. My mom said that someone in her area confronted someone about this and then said “this isn’t the real flag anyway. The confederate flag is the real American flag”.

Wow, that must have been absolutely terrifying for them.
And here I thought the left showing up in droves to intimidate Kirsten Nielson/Sarah Sanders/McConnell in restaurants or their homes, doxing members of Congress and law enforcement, harassing and lunging at the elderly coming out of the White House, surrounding and shouting in the faces of innocent people in restaurants, rioting and setting buildings on fire while law enforcement was inside was bad.
That's nothing compared to this. Scary.
I think a crazed person wearing a MAGA hat screaming at someone “to go back to where they’re from” is kind of scary, especially if that person was born in the United States. And how about the President of the United States standing before a cheering crowd saying he thinks it would be a good idea to arrest The Squad. You know who The Squad is don’t you? It’s a group of first term Congresswomen who dare criticize BunkerBoy. Their only crime, besides criticizing trump, is there isn’t a blue eyed blonde among them. That must have been an unsettling moment for these Congresswomen when the President of the United States said it would be a good idea to arrest them. Neither trump or many of his supporters understand what “We the People” means in the Constitution. It means all of us whether we disagree with each other or not are “We the People.” And a right and duty “We the People” have is to vote. By voting we determine the government on the local level, on the state level, and on the national level. And when a group of people show up at voting sites and block the roadways or yell at voters as they go to vote that’s intimidation and trying to stop people from exercising their right to vote. To me that is un-American and these individuals lose the right to carry the American Flag because they don’t understand what it means to be an American.

If they were violating laws, I'm all for their removal. Although, they weren't removed so they were probably far enough away? THEY WERE MOVED TO A DIFFERENT AREA! To not block access to the polling place! It showed them farther away at the start. When they were moved, it was closer to the building/doors.

And I wonder what the point was? Are they objecting to early voting itself? Because some of those voters might have been voting for trump, so how did the protestors know who they were disrupting. Yes, Northern Virginia is overwhelmingly blue but we do still have some trumpers. Exactly! They may have been protesting against their own people (Trump voters). Do they really think only those voting for Biden are allowed to vote early?

I should not have to walk THROUGH a group of people to get to the polling place. I should not have to walk AROUND them either. The path should be unimpeded by those looking to sway my vote or intimidate my vote. The voting process should be simple and respectful for all involved...as it has been in every other election I've taken part in. Just because it doesn't intimidate you, doesn't mean it doesn't intimidate others. If what they did turned even one person away for voting because they didn't want to deal with going around people yelling and blocking their way, that's illegal and morally wrong. It isn't patriotic. It isn't even being a good human. It's disrespectful to your fellow Americans and to the process of democracy. It says a lot about those who agree and defend with what happened in Virginia today and it isn't good. Exactly this. And what if someone, after seeing the video, decides not to vote because they don’t want to deal with the intimidation? Well, isn’t that the goal of the Trump supporters?

I am so sick and freaking T.I.R.E.D. of the Trump supporters (NOTICE: I am making a distinction from conservatives and TRUMP supporters) and your snowflake bellyaching. There is not a doubt in ANYONE'S mind that if that had been a group of Biden supporters or Bernie peeps, Hannity would be wailing to the rooftops. For so long I have heard the term "snowflake" thrown at liberals or democrats but the truth is....it is you guys! You LOVE to throw sand in other people's eyes but when the tables are turned you cry that everyone is being mean. I see it on this board and I see it in real life. You don't like the state of things in America right now...we'll take a hard freaking look at YOUR president and YOUR Senate. They haven't done jack crap for Americans! And spare me your patriotic BS. If you loved the flag so much, where have you been when liberty and justice that our founding fathers put in place with the Constitution has been thrown in the trash? OMG! So much this. Dixiechick/Gia has had the same schtick so long it bores me to tears. She doesn’t feel like Gia to me. Although I guess she could just be using lots of self-control.

Making a big production of loving the flag/hugging it (gag me)/considering oneself to be more patriotic than others with differing political beliefs/worse yet, bragging about it in public/demanding shows of overt patriotism in order to prove one’s love for country ... none of these equal actual patriotism.
Respecting the Constitution and acting in a way that honors the Constitution go a lot further toward showing patriotism than trying to intimidate voters who may or may not be voting in opposition to your beliefs, or trying to prevent them from voting in the first place, or placing political party above country, or thinking the only states that matter are the ones that vote your way.

Such patriots. I am disgusted that they have co-opted the American flag as their symbol. You weren't using it so we figured we would. Fuck you. Seriously, just fuck right off. President Bone Spurs and his numerous deferments gets to co-opt the American Flag? For surviving his own personal Vietnam of STD’s in the 1980’s? Or wait, I know. Telling the widow of LaDavid Johnson he knew what he signed up for? The mission he took no responsibility for even though he ordered it? So I’ll say it again, and add in the people who liked your post. Fuck you and your ilk who think you own the flag, supporting a man who has let Russian bounties go with no action, calls dead military pussies and losers. That’s the tip of the iceberg with his disrespect of the military. I’ll just go give my 90% disabled retired military an extra hug, who wouldn’t vote for Trump with a gun to his head. Then I’ll go check that my American flag flying proud in this Democrat household is in good repair.

"Neither trump or many of his supporters understand what “We the People” means in the Constitution. It means all of us whether we disagree with each other or not are “We the People.”" pixiechick as you can see in my signature line. Dissent is not disloyalty: it is democracy! It has been there for some time. I do not remember exactly when I out it there! You and your ilk seem to have no desire for democracy, which is well proven by your blind support of a person who has done and continues to do that which will destroy it!

But they were. If you chose not to see it that is your choice. They were off to the side. They were not blocking anyone. They were not intimidating anyone. It's not that I choose not to see it, it is that these 2 actions absolutely do not exist in the videos posted here. Everyone was roaming by them and there was vast empty space into the building. Never mind the laws that prohibit this. . ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How much knowledge of the Fairfax Co Government Center do you actually have? Are you always so free to shoot off your mouth about things you don’t know about first hand? Some of us live here and visit the Fairfax Co Government center regularly. I’m there 2-4 times per year for the past 15 years. There are narrow walkways from the parking areas that lead to a larger plaza area in front of the building. Anyhow, the protestors were blocking one of the narrow paths from the parking to the entrance area. There was no way to avoid them after parking in the side lot as you attempted to enter the larger plaza area in front of the Government Center. The Trumpanistas were then moved to the larger plaza area, that was technically closer to the doors, but also allowed people who wanted to avoid their jeers and shouts to walk a distance from them and still enter the Government Center. Only a fool talks about the geographical layout of someplace she hasn’t visited as if she were an expert. You decide whether that fits you or not.

Thanks for the good laugh. I wondered how you were going to spin this. With facts If you're after fact Gia then have a look at this twitter feed by Anthony Tilghman, they certainly look as if they are blocking the road to me. That isn't the only video - he's covered it all right up to the point of the campaigners being moved by extra security that they had to draft in Just to add he is actually quite ligit - he's an award winning filmmaker so not just an ordinary Jo Bloggs with a phone! twitter.com/i/status/1307360544559706113

Isn't it illegal to have political signs etc within "x" number of feet of voting entrance (and within) in most states? It is here. Or so I've always thought. (will google) quick search says not within 100 feet here and 40 in Virginia. I vote at my county's election HQ. They have a sign up saying 'no campaign material past this point" or something like that. Think it is about 50 feet in front of door but right inside gate.

twitter.com/i/status/1307360544559706113I did that hours ago and there is not a single picture or video that shows them blocking people or the doors. They also weren't harassing or screaming at people. They were peacefully chanting.

Hmmmm, “directly.” People had to walk around them. I guess that might intimidate some folks. They had a right to make a nuisance of themselves, but likely did not sway anyone to their side. I wonder how many four letter words flew out of the mouths of people trying to vote?

I don’t argue with children so I’ll just agree wholeheartedly with Elaine regarding the layout of the FCGC and how easy it is to be in the way of people trying to enter the building. Plus I talked to an eye witness and trust their opinion as to what they considered intimidation and yelling. I also don’t care how you attempt to see what you want it to be. Have at it until the cows come home.
