I am fortunate to have one close by. She's a very small store so doesn't always have what I want, but she is always open to carrying new lines or special ordering. I am willing to pay full retail to help keep her in business, but I also shop quite a bit online if there is a good sale (hello Spellbinders clearance sale). I always shop my LSS first and pay full retail. It would be a huge loss if she closed. As a store owner, I cannot love this enough!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will tell you that I have made some great friends around the world that are store owners and all of them work their butts off to keep open and I know that they would be happy to order anything you are looking for! I am part of a retail group of store owners and thought maybe it would be helpful to share this list and see if any of you discover a store close to you that you didn't know about www.craftershome.com/members

I needed three sheets of a Simple Stories line to finish a 12 page set of layouts. I called, they had it, made an appointment for two hours later, drove there and had the sheets in hand. I support this store even if their prices are higher just so they stay in business. I think a lot of people from my town do this.

Define "near". I am happy we have a store about an hour away from me. She preorders things I like and she puts aside things I am looking for so that when I do get into town there is a lovely stack behind the counter for me. Also, like justjac, if I venture into Edmonton, I usually stop at at least one of the 3 store there. One store which was about 20 minutes from my dd's home has gone to on line only, and now she has moved to BC.

I'm in Seattle, and when I moved here a dozen years ago, we had several dedicated scrapbooking stores in the suburbs, as well as a chain of stamp stores that had outlets at some of the malls and carried a lot of scrapbooking supplies.
All of the stores that were here have closed. Even the stamp store chain -- first the mall stores went out, and, now, the main store is at least temporarily closed (to my understanding, they do hope to reopen post-pandemic). There is a papercrafting store in one of the farther suburbs that I will admit that I haven't been to in years because it didn't carry anything I cared for, and when I do google searches, occasionally there will be something that looks like it may be a new scrapbooking store, but I think those mostly have been home mail-order businesses that come up on the map, because they don't have websites.
We are lucky that the Ben Franklin chain here basically has the inventory of a scrapbooking store -- that is where, if I head out to a store, I get most of my supplies.

Since the pandemic I’ve bought things I don’t really need just to buy something from my LSS. I NEED her to stay in business

I wish I did. You'd think in the LA area there would be at least one, but there's not. I would gladly pay full price to have the convenience of just hopping over to a store and picking up something new and fresh.
We did have a store here close by for many years, but the owner was the WORST. I quit shopping there ages ago. She's closed now, but I'm not surprised. You can't treat your friends as your best customers and treat everyone else like crap.

Define "near". I am happy we have a store about an hour away from me. I consider “near” as being within half an hour’s drive. I used to live 7 to 10 minutes away from a great one, so I feel deprived not having one close to me. I’d go to the one that is 1.25 hours away if I didn’t have to deal with the horrid traffic to get there. The time is one thing, the traffic is something else. Not that I need anything. My stash has a better inventory than either of the two closest stores to me, and they are both at least 35 to 45 minutes away, if the traffic is good. It’s just not worth it. I loved being near the LSS. I loved working there and teaching there. I miss it.

I agree near is 1/2 hours drive
However if consider up to 1 hour near ish especially if they had online browsing and were willing to hold stuff for pick up.

I have one about 5 minutes from my house. She actually just opened a much larger store the other day. She has a great selection, and is always ordering more, and does special orders. She stayed open during the shutdown, and offers shipping to people. She has a ton of classes normally (not sure how often now with COVID).
I go only when I need something project specific. I have been scrapping for 20+ years so I have a big in home inventory. And honestly, the owner often seems like her people skills are off...
We also have Hobby Lobby, Joann’s nearby. Michael’s is temporarily closed due to a huge storm that came through 2 months ago. Our Tuesday Morning closed in early summer.
There’s another store 2 hours from here that’s great, and a small one about half hour away.
