It’s at least a 40 to 45 minute drive to get to the closest one for me. There are no other errands near them. The best LSS is an hour and fifteen minutes to get to, and I have to fight horrid traffic to get there. I have managed it once, about 3 years ago.
I have seen posts recently that sound as if some of you still have at least one LSS where you go. I used to live 7 minutes from one till they closed about 5 or so years ago. When I moved to Texas, the closest one was about 30 minutes away, but it was small and not worth going to that often. Then they moved farther away, anyway. They might be a little bigger now, but still not worth going to that often.
How far do you have to drive, and assuming they survived COVID shutdowns, how often do you go to the LSS to shop?

Funny you should ask. Last week I would have said "no," but since then I saw a sponsored post come up on Facebook which was very interesting. It seems there is a combination dry cleaner/scrapbook store about ten minutes from home. WHAT?? I googled them, and they actually seem to have quite a bit of stock. I hope they're still in business post-COVID (I'm not doing any in-person shopping right now) because I'd love to visit.
Other than that, there's a scrapbook store less than 30 minutes away.

I know there isn't any LSS in my state, but there is one in a neighboring state about 5+ hours away. So I'm left with Michael's, Hobby Lobby and ordering online.

I have one, Butterfly Reflections that started online and opened a brick and mortar a few years ago, about 20 minutes away. They don’t have a lot of 12x12 paper, but they have a great selection of dies, stamps & embellishments. I love shopping with them, I usually order online and pick up in the store. There’s a much smaller stamp store about 20 minutes in the other direction.

Yes, I have one about 5 minutes away. Funny thing, is that I order anything I need from my favourite store in Edmonton.

I have one, a really good one, that's a little over an hour from me. I'm waiting for her to call me to tell me my Vicki Boutin goodies have arrived!
There's another that's a little closer, but that one only stocks basics and some older supplies. She mainly does crops, and the store is primarily there to support the crops.

Not any more. The closest one is about 45-50 mins away on the other side of the city. And it's in someone's house so has limited hours. I would never go there in person.

My state once held upwards of30 LSS, including 15 in my area alone. All are gone. I heard there is a small store about 3 hours from me, my friend and I found it once but it wasn't open that day. That was 2 years ago so no idea if it is still open. It was in a really obscure, out of the way place and hard to find even with the address; it was around the backside of other stores. Took us more than 30 minutes off any kind of main road.
Where my mom lives there is still a small crop house with a little store and it is just a few traffic lights from her house. They almost closed but have been doing lots of fund raising for the mortgage on the property. I think there are 2 others within 30 minutes that I have never been to. During the scrapbook heyday there were 3 on one road alone.
We have Michaels and Tuesday Morning.

There are 2 near me, one that's 5 minutes from my house, it's small and has lots of paper and stamps and they sell handmade crafts as well. They rent our spaces for local crafters to sell their wares. The other store is about 25 minutes from my house and I used to work for the old owner at their old location for about a year. When I worked there that was over 11 years ago. They are both still going, the stamp store is selling "kits to go" with all the instructions and everything cut out and they're open for limited hours and days. The other store is open regular hours and started selling more online, when everything was shut down, you could order online and go pick it up at the store.

10 minutes away. She now takes appointments to shop. I'm not sure how she has managed to stay open but I know she has a loyal customer base so that's probably it.

Not really. There are some stationers and art supply stores that carry some papercrafting supplies, but no proper LSS. We do have a stamping store - it's small and not cheap, but they are the real deal for stampers.

Yes, two. One is technically a “craft” store and their scrapbook section has gotten much smaller in the last few yearS. Their cake decorating section has really grown in that same time. The LSS has recently started to relax restrictions related to COVID to allow very limited cropping. They are also hosting a large crop at a local hotel convention space. I’m still too paranoid to spend 3days with people I don’t know indoors. Despite the social distancing for tables and requirements to wear you mask when not in your seat, I don’t trust others enough.
I am thankful to still have an active LSS. Also, if they don’t carry a product, they are happy to order it for you.

I have a really good one that is about 30 minutes away from my house, but it's now 5 minutes away from where I work! I still don't get there very often (Hello huge stash...) but when I need something it's pretty convenient now.

There is only one LSS in my county and it's about 30 minutes away from home. My office is about two blocks away from it, so that's handy, but not so convenient if I want to grab something on the weekend. The owner lives in our neighborhood and since Covid she has offered to bring online orders down to our town the same day. She's awesome!

Also, there are threads at the top of the GS for each area of the country that lists LSS. I can’t remember if there is an international thread.

No more, so sad. But I've been buying online from LSS during virtual events I've attended. So happy to have found them compared to giving my money to big box stores.

No LSS/stamp store and it’s really a shame. I always see people in the scrapbook aisles at Michaels and Hobby Lobby so I think my area could support one. The closest one to me that I know of is 100 miles away.

I don’t have an LSS near me. Whim-so-doodle in St. Pete was the closest one (at 2.5 hours away) and I visited a few times per year, but they closed down last year. I shop at TM, Joann’s, and online.

Wish all of you lived close to us! We are still going strong with Scrapbook Generation and will celebrate our 16th birthday next month!
We were closed 99 days for COVID, but were thankful that our online store kept us healthy.

I have a local store about 25 minutes from me. I used to never shop there, but the new owner is bringing in better product. They now have an online store and I can pre-order things and have my order ready for pickup.

I have a fabulous one about 10 minutes away! She carries so much stuff and will order it if she doesn't have it at no additional charge! They always had amazing classes and crops but since the shut down she's been doing online orders and all kinds of stuff to keep going. I'm not sure if they've opened back up yet but I hope they survive all of this.

no - there were two in my small town when I moved here but none now and I don't think there are any left in the state - the last one I knew about was Whim-so-Doodle in St Pete and that was about 3.5 hours away craftymom101 - are you south or north of St Pete?

The closest one to me is 1.5 hours. We live in the middle of nowhere, so do our major grocery shopping there as well as doctoring, etc. I go maybe once or twice a month.

In today's day and age 30 minutes away is "near" I used to have 3 scrap stores within 15 minutes and 4 more within 30 minutes. Now i think there is only 1 left in my state, there are a couple of dealers for scrap companies who work out of their houses, there's a couple of FB resellers, but I can't find another brick & mortar store. I google and check every time i go down south as if one may have magically opened up.

I am about 90 minutes from a scrapbook store. There is a fabulous giant craft store with a great scrapbook section about an hour away.
I am not visiting stores in person, but I have placed online orders from both of those "local" stores.

I’m 30 min from a stamping store which has a great selection of stamps, paper, dies and mixed media, but generally not my simple style. The limited hours have always been impossible for me, but was in that section of town after an appointment this past Friday. So I went for the first time in years, hoping to support a local business for a couple 12x12 ring albums. I was the only customer, and they had the standard virus protection steps in place so I felt comfortable. No luck with albums, but I did find the ColorPlay New Normal kit. And Simple Stories Flipbook inserts. My cousin briefly ran a crop space with a store years ago just as digital was taking off. I didn’t even find out it’s existence until she was closing.
