BUT -- according to the rules in OH she was outside, social distancing and was six feet away from another person. Plus, the argument could be made that school is not private property - it belongs to the tax payers footing the bill for the facilities. No, schools might be owned by local municipalities but they have never been public access spaces - for safety reasons schools can control who goes there and when. In fact some states have increased the control over school properties over the years of school shooting after school shooting. School property is not, never has been public access space. Public ‘owned’ Does not mean public access, it never has. ‘Taxpayers footing the bill’ Has absolutely nothing to do with wether or not the public has access. Zero. In addition she was ignoring the state wide school sports rules in place to try to have safe sports seasons.

If you’re gonna go by that rule then people should be able to smoke, drink, and carry a weapon on school grounds....all those things are legal in the state but not allowed at schools. There have always been different rules at schools, you agree to them or you don’t go. Period. I have zero sympathy for this woman, I do feel terrible for her kids though, they must be horribly embarrassed 😕

You’re right she was probably trespassing (I say probably because I don’t even know what state she was in). However, from what I saw on the video, she wasn’t endangering anyone. The officer could have called for backup. I think a taser should only be used as a last resort to diffuse a dangerous situation. I am a mask wearer. This lady was completely in the wrong. It just didn’t appear to me that it was necessary to taser her. Of course, I don’t know all the facts. Gee tell that to all the officers who have shot people of color without the officers even trying tazing. Start with the officer who shot Jakob Blake. I still don’t get why he was shot. In the back. Makes zero sense. I think tasers should only be used to diffuse a dangerous situation. Deadly force should only be used in self defense or defense of others. It looked to me like in this circumstance the woman wasn’t an immediate threat to anyone and the officer could have waited until backup arrived to assist in arresting her and forcibly removing her from the stadium, but of course I don’t know all the circumstances. My opinion wouldn’t be any different if the woman had been a POC. And I do think she was 100% in the wrong for not wearing a mask, but it just didn’t look like she needed to be tasored.

If schools are not really private property and belong to tax payers why do they generally charge to attend events and why are not just any old random adults allowed on campus?

For all those saying she did nothing wrong there is another video from a different angle where you can clearly resisting the officer and being much more defiant then the video linked, you also see a small boy crying near her and another lady trying to get the cop to let go as well. I don’t recall where I saw the other video, but you get a much better view of just how out of control she was. It was taken from above and almost directly behind her.

there are plenty of places 'we' pay for that don't necessarily allow us (the general public) to traipse around unimpeded whenever we want, doing whatever we want at all hours.
That's just a silly (and WRONG) line of reasoning that doesn't apply at all.
To name just a few:
The White House Halls of Congress National Monuments National Parks (open/closed hours, pay for camping, etc.) State Parks (open/closed hours, pay for camping, etc.) Police Departments Local Courthouse / municipal complex buildings Fire Departments Hospitals Public Schools Libraries (have open/closed hours)
etc. etc. etc.

I absolutely think the woman was in the wrong for refusing to wear a mask, but I think tasing her was an overreaction unless the woman did something we didn’t see on the video. Sure she was being a complete and total jerk by not wearing a mask, but it looked like she was sitting six feet away from everyone else and she was outdoors, so it wasn’t like she was putting others in immediate danger. It appears the officer could have called for backup to help him forcibly remove her from the stadium. I wouldn’t have shed a tear if she spent time in jail. Tasing someone, however, is a really big deal and I think it should only be used in extreme circumstances. Tasing shouldn’t be used as punishment, it should only be used when it’s truly necessary to get a dangerous situation under control. ...this woman repeatedly ignored the officers commands. What wAs he supposed to do, just say ok never mind? Tazers are a safe alternative to batons and guns. It’s unpleasNt in the moment but leaves no lasting effects. Is it stupid to get tazed over a mask? Yes. Is the officers fault it escalated to that level? No. He had a job to do and he did it. It was her fault for being an asshole. This is what I was saying. Thanks for saying it much better than I did.

Our community had a bit of debate a few years back when the high school and middle school locked the tracks when football season was over and when school was out of session. Our argument to the school board was that we just voted YES on a multi-million bond that caused our taxes to go up so we should be able to use the facilities when the sports teams are not in season or the school is closed for the summer. Of course I am not saying school property being public = free access any time. The comment about smoke, drink and weapons are very much over the top - then again this is 2Peas. However, school grounds cannot be completely shut off from the public constituency 100% because we are the ones footing the bill. There has to be a sense of BALANCE. I still think the response of being tasered is WAY over the top and shouldn't even have gotten to that point. Like a previous poster said if that big, burly man cannot maneuver a woman 1/2 his size and felt the need to use his taser I would definitely be questioning if this is a guy who is the right fit for his job. He could have just picked her up and carried her away.

He could have just picked her up and carried her away. He was not only battling her he was contending with another woman trying to get him to let go of the woman without a mask. The woman he tased was also holding onto the bench and he was at a huge disadvantage because she was sitting down and he was contending with the bleachers. Have you ever grappled with a child who is resisting being picked up? I can’t imagine most men would be able to just hoist a full grown woman off the ground who is fighting him and I don’t think that means he is ineffective at his job.

“A captain with the Logan Police department said their office is receiving more than 300 calls an hour regarding the arrest made at a Hocking County middle school football game. Logan Police officer Chris Smith has also received multiple death threats and racial insults. He has been reassigned from the Logan Hocking School District at this time.” abc6onyourside.com/amp/news/local/logan-police-department-receiving-hundreds-of-harassmentGuess all the facts don’t need to come out if it’s a white woman being tased by police. I hope that tells the thousands of Black people either in supportive roles or LEOs that it’s not about backing the blue at all. It’s about maintaining a system that harms Black people. My family lives in this area. Last Sunday during brunch we saw about 100+ cars & trucks each vehicle had either a Confederate Flag or a Trump 2020Flag flying. Some had both. Patrons began staring at us and maybe 5 mins into the hate parade we actually got up and left. Several of the cars yelled Nigger as we drove by. Russia and China #birdmanhands
