Ha! How's that for a thread title lol. Welcome to the October challenges AussieMeg , schroema , scrappyrabbit , gramma , scrapperal , grammadee , jjpeapea , gmcwife1 , kkrenn , joblackford , teacherlisa , jediannie , kellyr21 ! Wow, this is a pretty big team, and I'm so happy to see so many new challenge takers and so glad to see so many returning! How's everyone doing this month? I'm always curious about any goals you have for the month, or what you are working on. Is anyone working an October Daily album this year? I have a two page kit waiting for fall photos and next weekend we should peak here on the leaves turning so I hope the weather cooperates so I can get some photos of the foliage. I don't get trick or treaters here ever so no worries about how that will play out this year. My plans are to complete the Saturday sketch challenge, as well as get in a few of the sketches from last month. I'm also doing a "Remember Me" challenge in the SG Scrap Squad. That is a LO a month about yourself, with prompts and a sketch she is providing. Dang! That's a lot of scrapping and high hopes for me lol. And I'm going to try again to do the Allison Davis 6x6 paper pad class. I got way behind on that last time so I'm in group 2 (I'm a remedial lol) and hoping to keep up. I find it hard to keep up on class videos, the crafters I follow on YT, scrapping and trying to chat with everyone too. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Maybe I need a time management class . Although the hangouts each weekend have really boosted my productivity! How do you balance finding/keeping up with the places you find inspiration, keeping up with a community and also creating?

I will continue making cards for soldiers. I find the repetition restful after a stressful work day. I also want to finish some of the layouts that are on my "gotta get that done" list. And then there are page kits. My goal is to have them done, purged or set aside with specific pictures by the end of the year. And I need to finish reorganizing my craft room.
Other than that - not much ;-)

My goals are to complete my September Pocket Pages (the pictures will arrive soon), and to participate as fully as I can in CARDtober. I'm hoping to make a mix of fall cards and Christmas cards.

It was DSD 2020 on the weekend (Digital Scrapbooking Day) so there were heaps of sales and competitions on. I spent a lot of time browsing and shopping and playing, so I didn't really get any scrapping done except for my Sketchy Saturday layout. I bought lots of fun Photoshop styles and actions, so I spent a fair bit of time playing with them.
Styles, for those who don't know, are what you can use to make things look realistic in Photoshop. I use them on every layout. I just click on one of my shadow styles, and voila, instant drop shadow. I use an enamel style to turn a circle into a Nuvo dot, or a wood style to turn my letters into wood etc. The ones I bought on the weekend: Etched Wood Inked Edge Metallic Paint Stitching with Holes Thicker Sticker Paint Splatter brushes Mixed Media Mix & Match brushes (paint and outline)
The etched wood style is the coolest thing - I can do any line drawing or type a word and turn it into an etched wood element with one click - so cool! So you can expect to see lots of etched wood on my layouts this month haha!

Hello Joyfuls! How do I get my crafting done, joyfulnana? I gave up that pesky day job! So I play with paper for a bit almost every day. In the morning is my most creative time, and since I am home all day, I can usually put everything else off until later and play a bit just as my day starts. Thanks for heading up the team, and for hosting those Hangouts. It is always fun to play with other crafters. My focus has switched to Christmas card making. Hope to play along with the CARDtober challenges, and have a crop near the end of the month, where I plan to make cards, too. I have TONS of older product, but also have a couple of new collections and a card kit to play with. Have some pic's I need to print, and a Sketchy Saturday to host, so I will need to do some pages, too. I have so far met prompts for the first 4 LOAD days over at ScrapHappy. Doing 6x8" pages there, so once a photo is plopped down, there isn't alot of real estate to cover. Here is hoping we have a wonderful month playing together!

Hey everybody! I'm so excited to be part of this team. Being disabled I craft when the pain monster inside me allows, which is a few times a week. LOL Right now I'm working on a SWAP that was apparently due on 10/1 but I had completely forgotten about it. I feel awful because they are all waiting on me. Anyway, I mainly make cards and join a few swaps a month just so I can have something to work towards. I want to get back to scrapping as I need to finish both of my girls' life books. They are 23 and 22 and I'm only up to age 17 and 15 respectively. I'm really enjoying the challenges and hope to complete as many as I can!

I can't wait to see it. Everyone of your LOs look so realistically paper and makes me want to dive into digi.

Hi folks. Lately I have a lot to do in a lot of different areas, but I’m finding it hard to actually get all the things done! I have a lot of freedom to determine my own schedule, but I’ve been having a hard time finding a good balance so I can get all the things done that I actually WANT to do. I’m also realizing that some of my projects aren’t very enjoyable the way I’m doing them.
My main scrappy project is the virus diaries, which I’ve been working on for a few months. I’m finding it hard to keep up with it, but I’m figuring out how to make it a little easier (the photo selecting and printing is a hassle!) I have a lot of cardmaking “shoulds” - even though I’m one of the Cardtober hosts I’m not sure that I will do many of the challenges.
I’m doing a few projects “in theory” - October Daily so far has just been photos, but I’d like to make something on paper. I have a December album in progress and I should be working on my year-in-review photo book. And I need to draw/create something for my Pea Xmas card swap.
I might need to let go of a few things because we’re also selling the contents of my FIL’s house. His late mother and late wife were both huge collectors and he seems to be a magnet for old junk. Just to illustrate the scope of the project, amongst other things we’ve sold 6 of the 8 desks he found around the house, about 25 stools and chairs, and 4 of the roughly 85 lemon juicers in the glass case in the entryway... and a lot more. It takes up a lot of my energy.
Sorry, what was the question?! Lol.

Hola team! I am happy to be here This is my first month participating on a team, and I'm excited! I hope to have a productive scrappy month. I am playing along with CARDtober, and staying on top of it so far. I plan to send out Halloween cards to all my friends/family, so I'm primarily making Halloween cards. I have plans to do some layouts, but I am kinda waiting on some stuff to come in. My mom has a cricut, so she sometimes makes me embellishments for my layouts. I send her a list, and she makes them! But she's been busy helping a friend with some other cricut stuff, so my stuff has been pushed to the back burner. Also, since it's a travel album, I'm a little more intimidated to start it. Question regarding the points/spreadsheet.. I'm usually pretty good with spreadsheets, but this one has me a little lost. Do you track the points going horizontally?

Happy October! I hope to make cards this month as well as some layouts. I bought some Christmas supplies for cards from HSN and Scrapbook.com. I am looking forward to playing around with those supplies.

My friend did 246 so we only had room for 139 of mine. I have another 200 or so for our next box, but would like to fill it as quickly as possible to get it shipped out!

Here I go again. I'm not a card maker but man Cardtober makes me wish I was lol. I know there will be so many awesome cards posted this month. I'm sure the soldiers really appreciate all the cards they get from the peas. scrappyrabbit welcome! I track vertically putting my page title there at the top and it tallies them right up. That spreadsheet is genius gramma! joblackford I love your virus diaries. I haven't even started mine and have not been doing a very good job of keeping up with journaling about it, or all of the other things going on in the country. 2020 has definitely given us lots to document.

I’m hoping to make cards this weekend, or even start tomorrow after work! I showed my friend sheetload and she is quick. I’m still pretty pokey, but much faster than I used to be

I don't have to cut down, score and fold 8.5x11 paper. 2 - I use samples from Kristie Marcotte's blog. Then cut the components for 50 or so cards at a time. Then I go into assembly line mode.. glue - stick - glue - stick

Wow joblackford, are you making any headway in clearing out their house? I wish we were closer, I could use a new desk lol. I'm running into the same thing I do every weekday. - No mental bandwidth to scrap with lol. I have 2 pages that just need journaling to finish and I can't motivate myself to do it.

Ugh, I try not to think about the big picture! We have made some significant dents in certain areas, but if you were to walk into the house you'd think we hadn't started yet. It's not all on us though - there are 3 other kids/spouses who should play a part in the long run, but 2 probably can't be here until the pandemic is over, and even then, there's only so many Hummel figurines you can sell while you're visiting on vacation. We knew when we started that this would probably be a 2-3 (or 5?) year project unless FIL gets sick of it and lets us call in someone to do an estate sale. I know what you mean about mental bandwidth... hope you can find some energy to finish your pages soon. I just spent the last couple of days on yard work, turning our last little patch of lawn into new garden space. I'm very sore and tired today so glad that's almost done. Once the rain starts I will hunker down with crafty projects.

Oh wow joblackford I had no idea it would be 3-5 years to complete! I hope you take breaks from it once in a while. I'm getting out this weekend to see the fall foilage, this is peak time here. Monday, there was not a lot that had turned color and yesterday it was like Boom! everything is changing. And I have 2 two page LOs waiting for fall photos so . It might also finally be time to get a haircut lol. I haven't ventured out too much yet, so getting a haircut will mean putting my brave clothes on lol. I also submitted an application to adopt a cat. I was always called the crazy cat lady at work (even though I have no pets) lol. Time to live up to that! lol. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Good luck with the fulfilling the cat lady goals. Cat ladies are the best. (Although dog ladies are pretty awesome too!) I decided to cut my own hair after watching a video of someone using a razor tool, like those feathering razors the hairdressers use sometimes, to give herself a layered cut. The tool protects against getting a weird wonky cut line. She also said that whatever you do just pretend it was the look you were going for! It always grows back. I got the tool and a pack of blades for about the same price I was paying for a cut ($30-40?). I’m still working on getting more brave with it. So far I’ve just gone a bit shorter, and then a bit shorter than that, without really messing with the shape. But it’s been great. I hated going to the hairdresser anyway, so this was a huge relief for me. I’m overdue to do it again. I need to be like my husband who does his every second weekend. The hair goes in the compost and we feel very self sufficient! I was ready to have a nice crafty afternoon yesterday but FIL wanted to show us how and where he forages for chanterelles, so I spent the rest of my day wandering in the forest. Came home with maybe 3-5lbs of mushrooms that I now have to clean up and cook and freeze or give away! It’s very cool but also a lot of work. Also came back with a chamber pot, 2 wash boards, a peanut jar collection (with old nuts?!), a telescope, 2 iron irons, and some random jars with handles. Looked around the house and 100% you would never know we started decluttering. I took a bit of a break this week to do a bunch of gardening. This weekend it’s raining and I’m hunkering down with my crafts! I’m determined!

Good Saturday morning, Joyfuls! I have been keeping up with LOAD and [almost] keeping up with CARDtober, but dd and the wild one are here--and their puppy--so not alot of crafting for me until Tuesday.
Wednesday, my hair gets the full meal deal. Not yet ready to just let the grey take over. When you have mousy hair, it does not change to a silver--more like a dirty bronze or barnwood. Looking forward to having my bangs out of my eyes, and the soft brown with the blonde highlights back!
Got to get some parcels ready to go to my dsil who is overseas with the CAF. Canada Post is sending any package any size to the military for FREE! Should get busy and put together a box of cards for soldiers, too. Might get a box ready during the crop the weekend of the 23rd.

Good morning -
I am sitting here trying to convince myself that I do NOT need to go to an in person crop today. It's the same group that I've participated in for the last 3 - 4 years. It's a very limited group and we are very COVID aware. They are having a "flea market" today. 20 booths (all properly spaced). I know there is nothing I need - - - but there will be cool stuff. A Creative Memories rep and a Close To My Heart rep will be there. I know there is nothing I NEED. But I'm lonely - I miss my IRL friends - - - It would be good for my mental health to go, right?

I stopped coloring my hair years ago before it became necessary lol joblackford I hate going to the hair dresser as well. It’s a big reason I have very low maintenance hair. I’ll look into those cutters.

Hello team,
I'm feeling a little down today, and I don't really know why. So I'm just trying to ride it out and hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. So no cards from me this weekend, but I know I can catch up soon.
I got a haircut for the first time since November earlier this week, and I love it! I love going to the hairdresser, though. A moment of "me" time is always a good thing.

Ducking in here quickly. scrappyrabbit, I hope you will be back to your scrappy self soon. Please look after yourself and don't worry about "keeping up". When you get back to your creative space, try to just enjoy the experience, and don't worry about days your didn't feel the urge to create. Not alot of scrappy time for me today. Dgs did want to "make cards", so between finding the supplies and tools he needed and rescuing some items I was not ready to share at this time, I did manage to put one card together myself. It still needs some finishing touches, though. And I did a quick page in MS Word for today's LOAD prompt, but it didn't really feel like scrapbooking to me. And I have started counting up my points, but am nowhere near up to date. Will have to get to that this next week before it all gets away on me...

Hey scrappyrabbit I haven't done a thing this month so no worries! I did get some photos printed and gathered my Halloween supplies to start my October sort of Daily but haven't pulled the proverbial trigger to start the album. I've been looking through the challenges and I should be able to get a couple done but here we are almost 1/2 way through the month and I've yet to start anything. . . I need to try and get the 5 year old to bed earlier so I can work after she's asleep because during the day I get nothing done with all the interruptions!
