Because they are all in my pantry😂😂. I found 6 cans in there the other day.
Now I’m going to have to check my store next shopping trip.

Where are you? I actually have them in my instacart (will place order tonight for tomorrow’s delivery). Fingers crossed that they’re in stock, I’m in Seattle.
I’ve decided now’s the time to start getting some canned goods in the house. I don’t *need* much but I’m a little concerned that as we go into the holidays some staples may be difficult to find.

I am in NC. And my DS is a manager at a grocery store and I still can't get them. They are almost a staple in my house.

Whenever I spot a can of la preferida, I grab it because the week I need/want chiles, there aren't any. Well, except the Kroger brand, which I will settle for, but even that's sometimes empty, too.

Hmmm -I noticed last time I bought some that I needed buy the larger can as they didn't have any of the smaller ones. Wasn't a big deal as we use them up quick enough. Hopefully it's not the latest supply issue as they're a staple here too.

Let's see how long it takes this shortage to hit the news. Because the Peas know all!

Amazon. I’ve started getting staples through them. I feel like they gave a great choice.

Funny. We just went to the store last week for chopped green chilies and they are all gone here too! I wondered at the time why chilies, of all things, would be hoarded. Luckily I had just bought an 8 oz can the previous week-I normally buy the 4 oz but all they had was the 7 oz so the rest went into the freezer.

We seem to be having a shortage of medium-flavored taco sauce at my stores in central IL. Maybe they're related???

They've been out of stock at Walmart for a couple of weeks. Just ordered a 12 pack of Ortega 4oz on amazon, signed up for auto-delivery just in case.

We roast and freeze 50lbs of Hatch chilies every August, so I don't have a need for canned and haven't noticed if they are on the shelves or not, but I did notice several little jugs of Young Guns roasted Hatch chilies in the produce section near the peppers the other day. They were at at Smiths/Kroger.

I use the canned, I haven't noticed a shortage. I'll have to pay attention later this week when I go to the store.
I also buy Ortega and Poblano chilies fresh. I roast them over the flame on my gas stove, then peel them under running water and take off the stem and seeds. Then I put them in those little ziplock snack bags and freeze them. Each bag is about the same size as the little cans. I can't tell the difference between the frozen and canned.
I also buy jalapeños and yellow chilies and put them fresh, whole and not peeled into ziplock sandwich bags and freeze them. When I need them for cooking I just cut them up frozen and add to the pot.
Chilies freeze really well.
ETA: Roasting the chilies makes the house smell sooo good.

They were out at Wegmans last week too. They DID have an uncommon brand in a larger can that cost a fortune. I really needed them, so I paid the fortune, but now I think I'll run over to amazon and order. If they still have them.

I find that random things become scarce for a few weeks. Early in the summer my favorite marinade (soy vay) disappeared from shelves. It was couple of months before I found it again.

I buy whole chilies almost weekly and there are always plenty of chopped also. I'm in Boise, ID. Where the heck has all the Fresca gone tho?!?! My favorite soda and it's nowhere to be found.

I think Fresca is one of the varieties of pop that has been pulled from production for now, along with Caff Free Diet Coke, Caff Free Diet Pepsi and Diet Rite. I've heard two theories -- one is that there is an aluminum shortage, so they're only producing their most popular brands, and the other is that there is a shortage of artificial sweetener coming from China due to the pandemic. Hope they return some of these drinks ASAP. I know my mom is really missing her caffeine free diet drinks.

You can't find them because they're all at the grocery store where I work. I got 12 cases of La Pref diced chilies in the last order. 12 cases! They sell quickly so it's not a problem, just a surprise.
The soda shortages are due to the aluminum issues. Some of the soda companies have imported aluminum but it's not as thick and cans are exploding. It's always something, to quote Roseanne Rosannadannah.

I found two. Small cans last night (thanks to this thread Infelt really lucky!!) ... until I wheeled around to the spice packets to find ZERO white chicken chili packets. The chicken broth was also mostly gone - the no sodium kind I like to use was definitely gone. Broth tends to be hit or miss around here .

So, I found some last night at our local Meijer and stocked up. I have no idea if there's going to be a shortage or not, but I'm prepared now!
I keep thinking I should stock my pantry for what is coming next . . . . I rarely use canned foods, but maybe I should rethink that.
