I was scheduled to take off two weeks before my due date - DH and I were pretty much on our own with all of our family living in different provinces and I wanted some down time before tackling parenthood. On my last day of work, I arrived at the office and had my first contraction as I was removing my coat. I managed to stick it out until lunch before heading to the hospital. No down time for me.
Next child, same thing - planned time off, arrived two weeks early.
I had a year of paid leave with both.
