Hi everyone! My kids’ birthdays are coming up and we rented a theater auditorium for our family to watch a movie! I am having a hard time coming up with a list of good family movies for them to choose from. PG please, or mild PG-13 because I have younger kids! Here’s what I have so far: -Star Wars (any of them) -Home Alone -Pirates of the Caribbean -Elf -The Grinch who Stole Christmas -Jumangi (the original) -The Princess Bride -The Greatest Showman Thank you for any more ideas!

How young is younger kids?
Pirates of the Caribbean, for example, has some pretty gruesome skeleton scenes when the Black Pearl’s crew are exposed to moonlight.
I second Jen’s suggestion of Night at the Museum.
I think Dora and the Lost City of Gold was surprisingly good and I went in expecting to suffer through it for the sake of my kids.

Jumanji, the original with Robin Williams, is way scarier than the one with the Rock, IMO.
Jurassic Park, maybe. (T-Rex, not that scary. Velociraptors in the kitchen? Scary AF.)
Lego Movie.
Wreck it Ralph.

My youngest is almost 9 and his cousins that would come with us are almost 10 and 11. The 11 year old is very sensitive to scary movies, he doesn’t care for them at all. I know he did watch the original Jurassic Park and was ok with that, so it depends on the movie. I’ll have to approve with his mom! Night at the Museum is a great idea! I haven’t seen the Dora one yet, I didn’t know it was actually good! I’ll have to see it, thanks! How young is younger kids? I think I was leaning towards the original because it’s so nostalgic for me, my family watched that one a hundred times growing up! You’re both right though, the newer one is funnier and less scary! It is one of those movies that appeals to younger kids on one level and older kids who watched Dora when they were little on another level (same with adults who suffered through hours of Dora when they had toddlers). It is a movie that actually pokes fun at the franchise. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dora_and_the_lost_city_of_gold

I would make sure it’s something where it matters to see it bigger. For example, Big is mostly plot based, not action or effect, so I’m not sure the experience would be enhanced by being bigger.

My vote would be ET or The Princess Bride, but additional options:
How to Train Your Dragon Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

I immediately thought of Second Hand Lions, the Sandlot and Little Big League. Those are movies we could all watch as many times as they are shown.

Hoodwinked National Treasure series Night at the Museum series Harry Potter series Shrek series Megamind The Incredibles series Minions series Robin Hood—several are very good Men in Black series
Those are the movies that we have kept from the kids’ younger days. I guess we really likes movie series!

Star Wars is really worth seeing on the big screen, imo
A local theatre recently showed Empire Strikes Back

Lego2 was much funnier than the first Lego movie, imho. Lego Batman was hilarious. Princess Bride is a good suggestion depending upon the ages of your children. Into the Woods was so much fun. The animated version of Beauty and the Beast was amazing on the big screen. I thought of Toy Story, too.
I can't recommend ET, because I saw it on the worst blind date of my life. hehe.

Avatar, just because it’s it one of the best shows to see on a big screen. It doesn’t play any where near as well on dvd

I would take the suggestions and narrow it down by what looks good and would sound amazing. Meaning, great soundtrack and special effects, too.
