What an epic, emotional story of the love of a family. Both blood and by marriage. The video was a tear-jerker.
Thanks for taking the time and energy to type it all out. You are such a blessing to your family!

You are amazing. You have given your MIL, your BIL, and your DH a gift like no other. Plus, you have shown your children how to act honorably with love and dedication to family. I’m not sure how you survived that journey in one piece, but I’m glad you did! I hope you got some well deserved rest afterward!!

Wow, what a story. You went above and beyond for your BIL and your family, and I admire you for it. I'm glad you were able to bring him home, despite all the crazy obstacles. I hope it helped a little bit to tell your story here, maybe put it a little farther behind you.

Thank you for sharing, I wish growth for your BIL. Your MIL was so happy. It sounds like it was emotionally exhausting, and you are so strong.

Wow !!! I can't add anything new to what anyone else has said, so I'll just say I hope you are finally getting restful sleep, and that your b-i-l is getting excellent care. The video is SO touching !!! You told the story so well, and I can vividly imagine your physical and emotional EXHAUSTION! I also hated that many people were so rude and uncaring !!!! (( hugs ))

That is the longest post I have read on here. You had me in tears. So many circumstances contributed to this perfect storm, and I’m glad there was a happy (ish?) ending.

What an amazing thing you did. I’m so sorry it was so hard and I hope you are healing from it but the pay off from your mother-in-law’s reaction has shown it was worthwhile. One never knows how strong they are until tested, you are invincible.

There are peas that I'd love to know in real life and you are one of those. I based this on things you have posted before, now I think you a complete star. What an example of family, love and commitment.
May your bil feel the love and contentment of family and home.

But wow.... so many uncaring TSA people. I understand their job is to keep us safe but...still wow. Couldn't they do that and have some compassion at the same time? -- And, how does turmeric even vaguely resemble cocaine? Thank goodness for the one TSA woman who seemed to have some sense of how to treat people. I'm glad to both made it back, and the video was so touching. And now your MIL has her son back.

I could watch that video a million times. My mom heart feels her mom heart. You are an exemplary daughter in law.
Travelocity messes up more travel plans. I never understand using them. Almost all airlines match their price, and booking direct buys a level of confidence that cannot be replaced. They have screwed with me one too many times. Done with them.

I don't care about the language; I don't care about the culture; I don't care about the country; I don't care about the age: A mother's love is immediately recognizable.
That is an amazing story and I was on the edge of my seat. You are an incredible person to have gone through this ordeal for your brother in law. I hope you have a nice long vacation right now from any stress!

Thank goodness for the one TSA woman who seemed to have some sense of how to treat people. I'm glad to both made it back, and the video was so touching. And now your MIL has her son back. Agreed! It was probably the turmeric powder along with the one way ticket. One year, our family of 4 had flown from Virginia to Minnesota for Christmas. Our return flight was canceled and had to rebook with the airlines. They booked as on one way tickets for the return flight. Yep, we got pulled at TSA and we heavily questioned about why we were traveling with one way tickets. Even with a sensible explanation and as the whitest white-people ever. I avoid one way tickets at all costs now, paying more for an open ended ticket. When DD spent her semester abroad, we booked her on a cheap Ryanair flight to Paris. We hadn’t moved here yet and had had assignments canceled last minute before. But a $30 plane ticket said she planned to travel on, so she was good.

Your story is so gut wrenching and heartwarming. You are a such a fantastic writer that I was on the edge of my seat to the point I was happy or sad or scared through out and praying that you were able to make it back home with him.
Watching the video of his mom getting to wrap her arms around him brought me to tears.
Thank you for sharing all of this. Now I'm crying tears of joy.
