Huge hugs. I myself have an anoxic brain injury from resuscitations also. It’s not easy. I wander, get distracted, lose things, can’t concentrate, mystery and long term are affected.

Oh my gosh @theyshyone! I cannot even begin to imagine what you have been through. If you feel comfortable, I sure would like to know about your journey and what you have been through. I would be so thankful to have a perspective from my BIL's point of view.

Holy holy, what a tale. Way more cities than a Tale of Two Cities, but you definitely played out its adage of best of times and worst of times.
When I arrived at the part in the journey where you described how your own tears started in security at JFK, I realized my own tears had started ... and flowed through the end.
Like it or not (!), you will be admired for this and I’ll simply add to the chorus: You were so much the right person for the job and you soldiered on despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles. (And it’s so frustrating that so many of the obstacles themselves were present because of our own failures with Covid, testing and travel profiling.) Your families are so lucky to have you. You are a gift. Accept it, dammit. LOL
And thanks to 2Peas, you had a reason to record the entire saga - which could be a cherished record/momento in the future, but is also a gift for us, as it starkly demonstrates that - for many of us - our privations right now pale in comparison to the privations and obstacles of others. Thank you for that reminder.

omg. as I read your post, I kept thinking 'that has to be it-- no more problems.' and then something else would happen... I was holding my breath, and read faster and faster till I got to the part where you were safely on the plane!
bless you for going through all of that, and all of the people who helped your BIL get safely to the point where you could get him home.

Thank you for sharing your courageous tale. What awful times these are for so many. I’m glad it had a happy ending for your family.

Oh girl, I just got to read this. I viscerally felt your stress and relief at each turn, in your retelling. 😭😢 But you are correct, that final video made it all worth it. In any language, you can see and feel the love there - and that is always worth any hardship faced. You are clearly stronger than you knew, when tested to your limits. And I’ll never look at turmeric the same way again, I bet you won’t either. I seriously was enraged at how hard it was and the horrible assumptions made, over you getting that necessary Covid test. During a pandemic, no less - 9 months into it! Allow me to digress for a bit, but this is *why* we NEED a NATIONAL strategy for testing. People should not have to fight like this, especially at this point in it - to get tested for any reason, anywhere. While our overall handling has been atrocious, it would have been so easy to you to get that test here in ND (and many other states too) Mortifying that is still going on in some others.
