I'm putting candy in a big bowl on a table at our front door so that they can help themselves. I hang out in the den that has two windows so I'm closing the blinds so the kids don't see inside and expect me to come to the door. Hopefully the first few won't grab all the candy! We usually only get around 40 kids but I expect a lot fewer tonight. Anyone doing the traditional trick or treating and giving candy directly to the trick-or-treaters? It's not as fun but I feel a lot safer this way.

Did last night - spread candy out on a table, sat several feet back from it (outside, bundled up at end of driveway), restocked table as needed. Got to see some costumes, kids weren't reaching into a bowl and I was outside and several feet away from all of them. Mostly just the neighbor kids I see out walking anyway, none of them were close to me and not for more then a couple mins.

We'll spread candy out on a table and a bottle of sanitizer on the table for those who want it. DH and a neighbor will be nearby with a fire going to greet from a safe distance.

My husband made a long pipe shoot spray painted black then spray painted candy corns on it so that he will be standing back at least 6 feet with a mask on and send candy down the pipe so hopefully this will go well. I am standing inside watching.

Using long kitchen tongs to retrieve candy from my box to put into the bags of the kids collecting candy.
Obviously wearing a mask and have on big kitchen oven mits.

We made a last minute decision to get candy today. We’re too decorated not to have treats! We put a few pieces in brown lunch sacks that we decorated and tied up with cute ribbon. We’re putting them in buckets outside and when they’re gone, they’re gone. We really didn’t have many kids last year so I’m not expecting more than a handful.

I will have a table at the end of the driveway and bags spaced out. I will sit at the top in my mask to restock. The yard is all decked out in lights. I will have fun lights and decorations on the table.

I put candy in bags and we will be setting them on a long table at the end of our drive way. We are going to sit inside our garage with the door open to see the costumes.

My neighborhood normally gets hundreds of kids. I am answering the door in a mask and putting the bowl out for kids to pick themselves. I should have done bags though. Didn't think of it and now I am thinking have kids put their hands in the bowl is a bad idea. So far only a handful, so maybe everyone is taking advantage of the drive through trick or treating that our area is doing all over the place.

I just set out a table with six piles and a cute sign that says to take a pile. I’ll keep restocking the little piles but I’m not opening the door when anyone is on the porch.

Ours was last night--we just put the candy in the kids' buckets after they knocked on the door. We don't normally have a lot of kids, but enough to justify turning our light on and having candy on hand. If we had more I might have tried setting up the candy chute idea or made up bags, but it wasn't even worth me sitting outside even though it was a decent evening. We had less than half as we normally do, but others in the neighborhood had more than normal. Others still tried putting out a bowl with a sign saying "one per kid"...yup, the bowl was emptied within 20 minutes by one kid.

I'm giving it out. I know my hands are washed and I can sanitize them as well.
Don't need kids sticking their hands in my bowl and passing it to the next kids who come along

I’m going to use two TV tables to put the items on and I will be sitting a distance away, with my mask, Uggs, and a warm coat ready. It’s 64 degrees and breezy but will cool off fast when the sun starts going down.
I have full size bars, packs of gum, cookie packs and chips, and will let them pick one from the tables - they’ll be able to see the choices and won’t need to reach into a bowl and handle multiple things while they choose.

DH is relaxing on the porch with a beer and a mask at the ready in case, do as not to make anyone nervous. His mother came over. There is candy in a bowl on a table. I'm off to work, unfortunately. I love seeing all the costumes!
Two doors down they have a warming table set up with drinks and candy.
Someone made a candy chute to deliver candy to the kids, looks like a really cute idea.

nope. city has discouraged. our positive rate is back to 1000 2x this week. it would be irresponsible.
we used to get about 100-150 kids on our old street. i live on a busier street now (with public transit) so i doubt we would get nearly as many kids, but my DD is having a couple of friends over to hang in the backyard to celebrate her bday so will take the pumpkins back there and put candles in them so there is no "misrepresentation" that we are open for business if the pumpkins are out and on display out front.

I don't think we'll get many, but we have a table at the foot of our front porch steps with well spaced apart full size candy bars. Dh normally goes way overboard with Halloween decorations (fog machine, lightening flashing lights, scary music, grave yard, lots of zombies and witches.) He's put us a few things, just so kids know they can stop if they want to.

I made a few ziploc bags with multiple pieces, which we'll drop in bags. We don't get that many anymore since most of the neighborhood kids have aged out of trick or treating, and we are in a cul de sac where the other two houses don't participate (one house isn't even occupied). We will wear a mask when we answer, but the rest of the suggestions seem like safety theater, you only interact with people for a minute or so. If someone wants to be creative and engineer a fancy delivery system, that's cool. It's been a long year, it's good to have a project. But that's not us.

We decided to not give out candy this year. We usually get almost 200. So many things are different this year.

We usually leave a bowl outside because it stresses out one of our cats when a bunch of people come to our door and we like to watch scary movies. Some years we only have 3 or 4 kids. Sometimes 30+, seems to be no rhyme or reason This year I decorated lunch sacks filled them with candy and will out a few on a table by our front door, I will keep an eye on the status with our Ring and replenish when needed. We have had some jerky kids ding dong ditching us lately, so I don’t want them taking all the bags.

Yes, we have it laid out on our large planter. The kids can come up and pick one.

Our neighbors agreed to put treats in zip lock bags. I put out candy bars and potato chip bags on a table. I had it decorated with pumpkins and a tablecloth and the porch was decorated but off limits. I did not sit out there but it was all gone in no time. Just texted the neighbor. We got way more kids, don’t know from where, plus they doubled up what they took. Anyway, I was not the candy police this year. I will have to buy my own tomorrow, some good stuff just for me.

We put handfuls of candy in baggies, then put them in a big Halloween bucket on a decorated table at the end of our driveway. My son is monitoring it from the porch. We’ve had about 15 groups so far - much less than we usually get - and everyone has been friendly and respectful .

I put a card table out on our lawn with some spooky decorations and snack bags with 3-4 small assorted candies.

We don’t get too many on our street, but I didn’t want to skip it. So I made a cute ghost with garbage bags and a stool. I made up baggies of treats, and printed a Happy Halloween bag topper. It was super cute, and I might do similar again next year!

Our town's ToT was from 6-7:30. We were out of town for a while and didn't get home until 6:50. We tossed a bowl of candy on the porch and turned the light on. We got about 10 kids. They were respectful.

I premade treat bags and spaced them out on a table on our front walk. We generally don't get many kids, but 12 out of the 20 bags I made have been picked up. It's 8:30 pm now, so I'm guessing that's it.

We made a candy slide from a cardboard tube. Here is Cousin It with the tube. Sadly we usually have 75-200 trick or treaters but tonight we only had 10 or so.
