Cautious optimism here. But cautious. I've been feeling uneasy and dreading things somehow turning around...can not wait to hear good, definitive news! Same. I am cautiously optimistic but I really hope that the coverage/speculation isn’t wrong. I’m curious to know how many military votes will come in today and who they will vote for. |

I slept approximately 4h. Got up and immediately had to start working from home. I somehow powered through (bless the coffee gods and goddesses) and am done with my work for the week just in time to watch the rest of this year's biggest telenovela unfold. Can someone catch me up on Pennsylvania right now? Merci. Pennsylvania is down to a 18,049 vote difference. Still only 95% of the vote counted, with many votes yet to come from the Philadelphia area which is blue. So, waiting and hoping! Come through for us, Philly! I my house I have a transgender and gay son. My husband cannot wrap his brain around it despite me explaining that we don’t need to understand it. It JUST IS. So the fight really centered on LGBTQ I sent him an article from the human rights commission which he refused to read. I said how can you claim to love me or my child if you won’t even discuss the issues with me. If you won’t learn. He then called Obama the n word which my son heard. I said now I’m out because I’m not raising my kids in a house that uses that word. Under any circumstance. He’s since apologized but I’m sick to my stomach today. He wants to claim ignorance on the issues but if my adult children do that, he gets mad. He’s allowed to be an ignorant voter but god forbid my 18 yo vote democratic because she surely doesn’t know anything.
I’m still pretty upset. I knew it would come to this if i ever voiced my opinions. Afterward my son thanked me for standing up for what’s right.

I want to apologize to any one I may have offended in the past by not being more outraged by Cheeto. I think I was afraid to take a stand knowing in my household, I’d be standing alone. I absolutely voted for Biden and I’ve prayed fervently that he will win. Last night I stood up to my husband who hasn’t read the first news article (despite my vetting and fact checking) who thinks since the stock market is up, that must mean trump did something good. I don’t know if I swayed him or earned any respect but my 16 yo who heard the fight is certainly more invested in politics now. I hate what trump has done to our country. And that the rich white men like him because he keeps them rich. What happened to simple decency towards people? What happened to giving a shit about poor neighborhoods and trying to identify why crime is up in those neighborhoods? Instead of saying “oh well, he’s Black so that’s why” when we should be saying “oh well he was brought up poor and under nourished. THATS the real issue”. I’m just venting. I’m sorry. I agree wholeheartedly. There are only 3 that I know of in my family that voted Biden.....my niece, my daughter and myself. The family has already pretty much disowned my niece and daughter. Fact-checking articles that are just one long list of "FAUX" (FAKE) with explanations, unmistakably accusatory vocabulary for his false allegations, articles on the dangers of how deep Trumpism seeps through America, etc. It's not pretty. |

I couldn't be in split relationship but I'm very much aware our circumstances are different and that that are many shades of grey in between black and white decisions. It’s the classic “just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen”. If you want to keep your head in the sand (double checking my use of the word your) doesn’t mean bad things are going on. And I think that’s where most true republicans are. The trumpers are not who I’m talking about because m mk y husband isn’t necessarily a trumper. But he’s deeply republican. And it took me a bit to flip sides but I did because trump does not represent my ideals in any sense of the word.
