I just started read Fourth of July Creek and it is pretty engaging so far. I just finished The Flight of the Silvers. I LOVED it, but not sure all 600 pages are for everyone. Another long engaging read was 11/22/63. Or if you haven't read A Discovery of Witches or the YA series a starting with Cinder---I recommend those too. I read 11/22/63 last week too. It was long but a pretty good story to follow

Anything by Sarah Jio....her books suck you in quickly and keep you interested. Although I love all of her books, my favorite two are: The Bungalow and The Violets of March.

I also like the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child. I haven't seen the movie based on the character, though, because in the books Jack is like 6'5" and 250 pounds and is really strong and I couldn't imagine Tom Cruise being able to pull that off.

Happy birthday! A day with nothing to do except read would be a perfect birthday for me.
another vote for Chevy Stevens. She has written 2 books and both are page turners. Another one of my favorite authors is Diane Chamberlain. I am always waiting anxiously for her next book.
If you like N. Sparks, you will like Charles Martin, too.

I loved The Truth Teller by Angela Hunt and couldn't put it down.
Climbing the Stairs by Padma Venkatraman is a YA historical fiction set in India during WWII that I and our book club loved.
My book club also loved Wonder by R.J. Palacio.
Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman was also a book club favorite.
I have a lot more listed on Goodreads. I teach middle school reading and love to read.

I have just read the first 3 books in the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson. I had a hard time putting them down.
Charlaine Harris wrote another series which starts with the book Grave Sight. It is a 4 book series and is very good!

Happy birthday! A day with nothing to do except read would be a perfect birthday for me. I wish that were the case, but I have to work a full 8 hours. I do get the Fourth off, though, so I am happy about that!

Any of the psychological thrillers by Sophie Hannah. Gripping and intriguing. I've never read this author before, but I'm intrigued. What would you recommend to start with. One of the stand-alone novels or the "Zailer & Waterhouse" books that I'm seeing on Amazon? Any particular favorites?

Sycamore Row is a good read if you like John Grisham's earlier books.
Sophie Hannah books are great page turners! I have read several of the Zailer/Waterhouse books, and they really keep you guessing.
The Silent Wife keeps you reading.
Enjoy choosing!

I always recommend the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward to those who are OK with some fluff ... I call it vampire porn It's very addicting! If you liked Gone Girl you would probably enjoy "The Silent Wife" by A.S.A. Harrison ... A couple of popular titles from my 2Peas Book Club were "Where'd You Go Bernadette?" by Maria Semple and "Just What Kind of Mother Are You?" by Paula Daly ... both were really well received by everyone Leanne

Of the books mentioned I read and loved Before I go to Sleep, Never Look Away and the Jack Reacher Books. I also like Tess Gerritson and Harlen Coben (murder/thriller).

A friend recommended "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes. Said she couldn't put it down and neither could I. Interesting story, leaves you with something to think about. Oh I'm obsessed with her work. I just read The Girl You Left Behind and Me Before You is up next. Another favorite author is Liane Moriaty. What Alice Forgot and The Husbands Secret were fantastic. I love her writing. Highly recommend!

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield - the best book I have read that no one seems to know about! The Forgotten Garden, The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton - loved these, disliked her Distant Hours The Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline - could not put this one down Me Before You and The Girl You Left Behind by Jo Jo Moyes - liked the second better than the first, but both page turners. The Girl on the Cliff, The Orchid House by Lucinda Riley - similar in style to Kate Morton The Winter Sea, Mariana, The Rose Garden, The Firebird, The Shadowy Horses and everything else by Susanna Kearsley. My very favorite! Broken Harbor, The Faithful Place, The Likeness by Tana French - thrillers similar to Gone Girl, more dark than the above choices

11/22/63 by Stephen King - creepy but not scary
What Alice Forgot by Lianne Moriarity - thoughtful fluff
Loved both of these books. Both very different, but couldn't put them down once I got started.
