Found this site by accident, but she really DOES make this process look doable. I love fashioning snowy outdoor scenes, so I might just give this a try.

I'm pretty sure I have that video bookmarked to watch! You should definitely give it a try and show us the results I haven't even watched it yet but I want to try.

I discovered that I actually have several shades of green acrylic paint, so I gave this a try this afternoon on some card fronts. Still need to add a couple of elements, but hope to photograph and share tomorrow.
I think the most motivating thing she said was something like "Don't worry about perfection or symmetry: in nature, trees don't grow that way".

Here ya go, joblackford: Here are the cards I made with my own version of the trees. Took a few steps. I inked the card bases first; then painted the trees. I already had the Santa's done, but needed to diecut the skis. When the green paint was dry I added the white and glitter. When dry, I assembled the cards. Last thing I did was add the red Nuvo drops. painted trees by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

I want to thank grammadee for posting the link to this video. I gave it a try over the weekend-- SO gave me some gem watercolors to go with my existing set. Here is my set of four... I don't love drawing in the frame (I'm bad at it, and I think I should have used a different marker). For the last one, I took a chance with a different tree color (I love me a blue spruce). That was the one I was liked the most, so I turned it into a card. But I will definitely give this technique another go! It was fun.

Thanks for the inspiration grammadee and Eddie-n-Harley! You both made some beautiful cards! I have some watercolours, but haven't played with them much. I am definitely going to give this a whirl. It would be good to do it now so I am ahead of the rush for next holiday season.

joblackford posted about 100 days project. infochick, you can take small paper panels and just water color one every day, at the end you will have 100 of them and you just have to mat them and glue it on a card base. There is a lot of artists on YouTube who made simple watercolors for Christmas cards you cannchecknsome out for inspiration

Thanks, azcrafty! That's a good idea. I would be bound to improve over the course of 100 days!
