Ok, I've finished 1 page this month, maybe 1 in December. I've averaged 3 pages a month since I started keeping up with it (about 14 years ago). Are you guys full- time crafters? Or are your pages relatively simple? What's your secret ? If I join the challenge I will get to buy some new supplies in 2023.

Hi judyc , I can only speak for myself...I work full time, but when I get off work, I get some food and after dinner generally get a page started, or finish a page in progress. I generally do this M-F. I don't watch much tv, I do read, but usually on the weekends. DH plays a lot of video games, so he's gaming while I am scrapping...my kids are much older now and while DS still needs some direction, it's more like, "Have you finished your math?" (insert eyeroll by DS here) on the weekends, I generally carve out a couple hours on one of the days for scrapping or at least organizing photos. The weekends are a little more challenging, as DS has activities that he needs to be driven to (I have been known to crop photos in the car at the ski hill) and DH usually wants to hang out and do stuff. When I had little kids it was much harder as after a full day of work, and then kids stuff, after they went to bed I just wanted to fall down! I would not say my pages are super complicated (although they certainly can be) but they are not really simple either. I like a lot of layers, and usually use my cricut on some element, (for a title lots of times) and I am working on my clusters...although they are definitely a work in progress! I like using sketches sometimes, especially when an idea doesn't flow right away. Here's an example of a couple of 7x7 pages I have done, although I usually scrapbook 12x12. These were actually more of a challenge! (This was for "Hope" btw, Donna's Challenge)

Sorry, don't know what happened with my post earlier...but anyway judyc, don't sweat it! Everyone works at their own pace, as to what is comfortable and works for them. I think anyone who is still scrapbooking is amazing! You don't know how many friends I had who scrapped back in 2002...2010, etc..that totally threw in the towel. You didn't! One thing that is a lot of fun (plug here, lol) msliz, gramma, grammadee and perhaps others are hosting crops on the weekends. Super easy to join up, and it is great for chit chatting with other scrapbookers and getting some LO done. Watch for the crop threads and feel free to join in. There are always new people too, so no need to feel like you are joining an already formed group.

I work full time but it's just my DH and me in our household, which I'm sure makes a massive difference to how much time I have available. I try to spend some time creating pages every week and I find the more I create the faster I get at making decisions and putting pages together I really like. I consider 50 layouts to be a stretch target, but I also wanted something that would make a noticeable dent in some of my supplies. You could still join us but set a lower target that is more in line with your creating speed and how long you'd like to stay away from shopping, I think there are peas on this thread who have done that.

If I join the challenge I will get to buy some new supplies in 2023. Everyone has different circumstances. I am retired. Don’t have any little kids to ride herd on or care for or feed. There are just two of us in this house. I can and usually do spend time in my craft room daily. And yet there are still times I can’t seem to get anything accomplished. This month was a good one for me. Had not scrapped any pages last month, and had photos to scrap and stories to tell. I really want to stow my Christmas craft stuff away, so that motivated me to get scrapping. And this challenge put some edge on it. And like Chinagirl828 says, the more I scrap, the easier each decision is. I believe this is a hobby, not a job, and we should each approach it in a way that brings us joy. I got a lot of pages done in January, but they were pretty quick and easy pages. If I had more writing to do, or set myself a goal to learn—or use—some more complicated &/or artsy techniques, I wouldn’t have that many pages done.

Can't remember if I mentioned it before on this thread, but if you would like to play along with the February challenge teams, you can sign up HERE. And 28-4-28 starts on Monday: one challenge per day all month. Lots of different types of challenges, but I know mine will be all about using up stash, so another way to get ideas on how to meet our scrappy goals.

I know the techniques that work for me, and what I like to do on most layouts. I keep my stash (by pea standards) smallish, and everything is reachable from my desk. When I do anything "wet" like Stickles, Nuvo drops, paint stenciling, or glueing down stuff, I set that layout aside to dry, and work on another. at any given time, I may have five layouts in progress. I also don't overthink my pages. I go with whatever paper and embellishments work that I lay my hands on first, grab em and glue em down, and keep going.

This is so good to remember...when I first started scrapbooking ('97) I would agonize over every little thing, rip a page apart for no good reason, 1 page took hours. Now I know my style better, I know what works and I can make a complicated page if I want to, but I usually don't!

I've decided I want to get my 2019 album finished as there are only half a dozen pages still to be made, and then I can move them out of my scrap room and in with the other full albums. I've made some progress towards that this week finishing another two pages.
I'm down to 34 layouts to go and feeling really good about some of the stuff that is getting used. I put my last Prima mistable on the page I finished this morning, and used some SC acetate stars, two pieces of flair, and an alpha I never reach for on the page I finished earlier this week. I'll be honest, I haven't really made a noticeable dent in anything except full sheets of paper, and I'm not sure another 34 layouts will either, but I'm happy to be using some of these older things.

Have a wonderful crafty day, LavenderLayoutLady! I may put together one more page today. Thought I was done with Christmas, but discovered when organizing the pages I completed this month that I had actually done TWO facing pages for one of the single pages I had done earlier. So now I need to do a facing page for one of THEM. I really need to make notes, or maybe put my pages in an album as I go, or...

I overthink my layouts so much. I waste so much time making decisions and it irritates me so much but I realize I'm trying to avoid being unhappy with the finished layout. Your comment reminded me that I usually scrap much faster when I do batch scrapping. I'm working on a themed album right now so it will help me tremendously to start doing it that way. Thanks for the reminder to stop overthinking and starting adhering!

Nine pages completed today!
That's for a total of 45 pages done, 5 pages until goal!
About busting the stash...
I used a hoarded birthday paper sheet.
Used: stamps, including a fairly new birthday themed set. Enamel dots Stickers A die cut A paper punch Scraps
I layered papers.
I'm certainly starting to feel like there is a dent in my stash.
Being only five layouts away from goal, I've started to think about what I want to buy as a reward. I'm not really sure yet, but I do know I don't just want to blindly add to my stash. I think I like the idea of writing down events & themes that I need supplies for, then carefully selecting what I want.
I've noticed that I really like the small embellishments that can be sprinkled into a cluster.

Firstly, that's a phenomenal effort, congrats on completing so many pages and getting so close to your goal. And I'm excited to see it's possible to make a dent in one's stash!

I feel like I am really noticing what I like and what I reach for everytime. I actually think this will help me decide what to weed out, if anything, as I seem to just ignore some stuff entirely. I did 4 pages tonight, all birthday so I made myself pull out a birthday kit that had been gathering dust and only use that, with some more generic embellishments. I killed that kit about 1/2 way!

@kendramage Great job working on birthday layouts and using so much birthday stash!
I totally agree that this challenge has made me really notice what I'm using over & over again.
And what I haven't been reaching for. And made me think about why.
My bag of premade journaling spots and my enamel dots haven't left my desk yet. Evey single layout has those on it.
I haven't used my dies at all on those pages. Made me think about why. I do like them. I love the look of them. I have a wide variety.
But I'm not using them because:
The ZipeMate is stored under the desk. It's heavy-ish to get out. I have no hard top area to keep it on and use it. When I do use it, I take it over to my bed, which is soft and makes turning the crank harder. And all my dies and embossing folders are put away, also under the desk.
I think eventually I will need to remedy all this by making a cut station, but right now I have no space to do so.

I finished an in-progress layout today.
46 layouts done, 4 to goal.
I started another, but I need to gather bits & pieces to layer with.

I got a slow start on creating, but 6 pages done so far. Not much of a dent in stash though. I made it through the month only spending $20 outside of my kit sub, which is under the $25 limit I set myself.
Depending on if I like SG’s first weekend free kit, I may go over my $25 target this month. But, as long as I’m more mindful about what I’m buying AND I keep creating, I’m ok with it.

What's that sound?
"Oh, Kendramage just caved to 49th and Market Vintage Artistry Sky collection...that's the sound of her hitting the ground as she fell off the wagon..."

I've made two scrap related purchases in February so far, both stuff I allow myself.
Ordered January 2021 pics today.
Ordered adhesive last night.

I ignored glue and page protectors and my subscribed kits for my freeze. Received my January Spellbinders' dies today, and another set of glue cartridges. Have not purchased any papers or cardstock or embellishments since January 1st. My ScrapFan kit won't be here until the end of February, so still scrapping my stash. Sadly, after nearly fifty pages, the difference is difficult to see in here........ Finished a page today, but not counting it until I can post it on Friday. Hoping to have the last three done by this upcoming weekend. And since those pages are for my own 28-4-28 challenges and my theme is stash busting, let's say there will be quite a bit of product added onto those pages Hoping next week I can get into town to print photos and do more than window shopping at the LSS!

I appreciate everyone that shared their tips for getting pages done- everyone had something to say that I found helpful. First, I do have scheduled time in the evenings and weekends to make pages, but I have been horrible about sticking with my plan. I've been working from home for 10 months and when I'm behind with work it's easy to just keep working. I need to separate my time from company time better. Another thing I'm guilty of is overthinking. The 1 page I did in January- I had an idea for the page almost immediately but spent another week or two thinking I could come up with something better. In the end I went with my original plan. I also like the idea of using my tried and true sketches and techniques rather than trying to make every page an original creation (at least for me since 90% of my pages start as scraplifts that veer off along the way). Working on several pages at a time also sounds like something I would like to try. Thanks for the tips !

If I don't pull my plug so to speak, I will just keep working. My workday is 7:30 to 4:30, but sometimes I glance up and it is 5..or 5:30...and I still have more work to do, so I just keep going. I have to literally turn off the computer.

Now I need to work on actually taking a lunch break every day. It is so easy to blur the lines, and work is never done - there is always more to do! I do have separation from my work desk and my craft desk though, and that helps a lot!

Are you guys full- time crafters? Or are your pages relatively simple? What's your secret ? If I join the challenge I will get to buy some new supplies in 2023. I work full-time but my kids are grown. I'm a small stash, simple scrapper. I know what I like and I usually scraplift, so that helps tremendously. I'm currently working from home, which sucks a bit, because my computer set up is in my craft room. I found that I also had the mentality that scrapbooking had to be a day long project. Meaning, if I was going to do it, I had to set aside the entire day to do so. I've been slowly working myself out of that mindset. It's OK if I do one layout here and there. I also find that participating in some of the challenge months really gets me creating. I love the challenge months where there is something new proposed every single day. Like Sketchtember and February 28 day challenge. I even go back to Sketchtember and do layouts after it's all over. And I try to keep up with Sketchy Saturday posts too. But since I'm a small stash scrapper, I have set my goal at 30 layouts instead of 50. I managed 18 layouts for January Challenges. And now have done 2 so far for February. Both my February layouts so far have used scraps in my stash which was awesome. So I may just go ahead and bump my goal to 40 layouts.
