DH is eligible soon because he works for an HMO, even though he doesn't work with patients directly. He's expecting an email to sign up soon. I am probably not eligible until sometime late in the summer... but yes I'm getting it.

I am eligible for health reasons here in Texas, but it's difficult to find available for my grouping. Dh and I have been discussing this, he's a dentist and got his first one this afternoon, despite my diabetes I will wait until the people who are greater risk than I am have the opportunity to do so.

Like you, I'm diabetic (type 2). I live in Tarrant County and got my first dose through the health department. I wonder if it's available through your health department yet?

Yes! I looked at my county Health Department page and I have a long wait, but DD just got her second dose tonight. She's an EMT, so I'm relieved for her. DH will likely be next because he has a lot of health issues. I may get mine by summer.

I'm a remote teacher, and until I'm forced back into the classroom, I will let another person who can't work remotely get a vaccine.

yes - it's not available to me yet and I have no idea when it will be but once it is, I will be.
My sister and BIl had their first on Jan 2nd (they admin a nursing home - all patients and staff were given the option)

Yes I will--I miss my mom & she doesn't want to risk anything until everyone is vaccinated. My family is on their way with several of my siblings (full, step, & in-law) having already gotten the first shot because they are doctors/nurses/pharmacists. DH & I are the last group though because we don't have any medical conditions.

I'm in no way trying to be disrepctful, but if you decide against getting the shot would you mind sharing why? Much of what is driving my curiosity this is that I just got back from visiting my mom who is an 89 year old retired nurse. She's still healthy, and is able to live in her own home (My older brother lives with her.) but she's refusing to get the shot. Her thought is that if she gets it and dies, it must be her time to go. Honestly, that line of thinking doesn't make sense to me. If she gets it, she would need someone to take care of her. So she'd potentially be putting others at risk. She's not following the science behind the shot. She thinks covid is a big conspiracy.

Absolutely. According to the charts because of my age and job it will be May and I will be there with the proverbial bells on.

I don’t think I will even be eligible for quite some time, so maybe by then enough other people will have gotten it to test the waters so to speak, but I will get it. DH has more risk factors so he will likely be able to get it before me and DD is only ten so she will be the last of us to get it.

I'm in group 1C. They just started with medical/first responders this week. I think it will probably be end of month, next month before I'm eligible. Hopefully it's sooner. DH is checking daily to see when we can register.

My 23 yr. old will get the first dose on Sunday. She is so excited! She put her paperwork on the refrigerator to "brag" that she gets a vaccine first. She works in health care. She isn't concerned at all about possible side effects, she says anything is better than covid.

She isn't concerned at all about possible side effects, she says anything is better than covid. I received my first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday. The only side affect that I've experienced thus far is soreness at the injection site. They are really being diligent about tracking this vaccine. There is an optional covid vaccination tracking that I signed up for. Each day they text me and ask how I'm feeling and if I'm experiencing any side affects.
