I had my first dose (Pfizer) on Wednesday (Friday now). I had a sore arm yesterday. Today it's still sore when I lift my arm but quite a lot better. All precautions: masking, PPE, hand-washing and social distancing will still continue.

I'm in no way trying to be disrepctful, but if you decide against getting the shot would you mind sharing why? Much of what is driving my curiosity this is that I just got back from visiting my mom who is an 89 year old retired nurse. She's still healthy, and is able to live in her own home (My older brother lives with her.) but she's refusing to get the shot. Her thought is that if she gets it and dies, it must be her time to go. Honestly, that line of thinking doesn't make sense to me. If she gets it, she would need someone to take care of her. So she'd potentially be putting others at risk. She's not following the science behind the shot. She thinks covid is a big conspiracy. It doesn’t make sense to me either. On top of putting others at risk and taking up medical care when she is so blasé about her passing...Does she get her flu vaccine? Does she wear seatbelts?

Already got my first dose. I thought teachers moved down? We aren't expected to get it now until March. Maybe it depends on the state? Michigan just announced teachers/school staff are eligible starting Monday. As for me, I’m undecided. Leaning towards yes but I have some reservations about the long term effects of it, but of course we don’t know the long term effects of COVID either.

Absolutely. It'll probably be late Spring/summer until I'll get mine in the UK. Dh is a band above me having turned 60 so he'll be before me.

I'm not in any of the priority groups (and my state is the clusterfuckiest of all the states), so I have no idea when it will be available to me, but I plan to take it as soon as it's available. I remembered there was a poll back in September about this, so I looked it up to compare the answers from before (in fairness the question was will you get the vaccine *if it is rushed*) - I answered "I would wait a while" - along with 67% of the respondents. Here's the link to the previous poll in case anyone else is curious: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/111418/rush-get-vaccine

My 23 yr. old will get the first dose on Sunday. She is so excited! She put her paperwork on the refrigerator to "brag" that she gets a vaccine first. She works in health care. She isn't concerned at all about possible side effects, she says anything is better than covid. I received my first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday. The only side affect that I've experienced thus far is soreness at the injection site. They are really being diligent about tracking this vaccine. There is an optional covid vaccination tracking that I signed up for. Each day they text me and ask how I'm feeling and if I'm experiencing any side affects. That's great that you are helping with the vaccine tracking! That must be such a relief to have received your first dose.

I am a RN and work in a hospital. I just received my second dose yesterday afternoon. So far my only side effect is soreness at the injection site. The soreness is worse than that with the first injection, but not unbearable.

I was so happy yesterday when I heard him say their target to get the first four criteria done was February 14th and now they've also passed the Moderna one. That will bring everyone else after than so much closer too.

My county released their tiers and timeframe for them. I'm in the bottom tier with an early summer to mid summer date. My age, job, and health does not put me ahead of anyone. In fact, my grocery store employee kid will qualify before me. He's just waiting for the green light.
As soon as I'm eligible, I'll take a number and wait my turn.

Not knowing the long term effects, and generally feeling like it was rushed, is why I’ll wait a while. I’m in very good health, and practice all safety protocols (hand washing, masking, social distancing, etc), so I’m ok with waiting. My 20 yr old son, on the other hand, will get it as soon as he’s able to, and I fully support his decision.

I can get one through the University where I work. I've been working remotely since March but as soon as I get my notification/appointment, my butt will hop in the car and drive the hour to the Univ Hospital to get my shot. Then I will drive thru Starbucks and get a celebration Mocha Frappuccino and blast my radio going down the freeway home. I can't wait! DD should be able to get hers also through the Univ health system at the same time as she's a patient there, so maybe we can coordinate appointments and make a party of it.
Dh will have to wait longer and get his through Walgreen's etc most likely. I am rather overweight and dd has a few chronic health conditions so we will be before him. But probably not for a couple of months yet.

I have no idea how far down the list I am, considering I'm not a teacher, health care worker, etc. but YES, I'll be getting it when I have the opportunity. No reservations whatsoever. ETA: I want to be able to visit my family without worrying I could be carrying COVID to my 80-yr old mother, who's currently battling myeloma. My sister, however, has turned into an anti-vaxxer, even though my mom is STAYING with her. I don't want to get COVID myself, but more importantly, I don't want to ever be responsible for anyone else getting it FROM me.

I am eligible for health reasons here in Texas, but it's difficult to find available for my grouping. Dh and I have been discussing this, he's a dentist and got his first one this afternoon, despite my diabetes I will wait until the people who are greater risk than I am have the opportunity to do so. Like you, I'm diabetic (type 2). I live in Tarrant County and got my first dose through the health department. I wonder if it's available through your health department yet? I work in Tarrant County and I'm on the list through the health department as well.

How do you know when it's your "turn"? Do they just make announcements on the news/newspaper/etc? I'm not in any of the real classifications, so I'll just be one of the general public when it's time.

I want to get it, and am immunocompromised, but I have no idea how to find out when I can get it as I just found out that it is okay for me to get it. I have been under the impression for 40 years that I'm not supposed to be vaccinated.
Can anyone direct me as to how I can get on a list in So Cal?

I have the same questions... I don't think I fall into any of the first classifications-- I just found the info regarding the 'groupings' and vaccine administration on my county health department's website.

Yes, I will. DH already had his first one, getting the second soon. I'm so far down on the list though. I wish our state did vaccine tracking so we could see our number in line move closer.

In Washington State teachers over 50 are in one group, the second group of teachers under 50 are a second group with several other groups in between. That is why the earliest I could get the shot is now May, it might be later then that though. I am trying to find the info for Oregon (since that is where I work) but they don’t seem to have any plan. I know their plan won’t have any change on when I am eligible, but it will make a difference on when our school opens back up. If they can get the shot earlier, I might have to go back to work without it.

I spent three hours trying to schedule an appointment at my health dept yesterday, and can't get an appointment as they are all filled thru April.
I am 68, immunocompromised, have had 2 open heart surgeries in the past three years, and work in a retail setting. Yet I have lost count of the SAHM's in their thirties that already have gotten it, based upon their facebook postings.
I have only been to work and grocery store (special hours) in the past 10 months. They hang out at hockey games, and bars and restaurants, and travel to family gatherings and vacations. I am really irritated with the roll out in my state.

I am sure it varies by state. Oregon doesn’t seem to have any sort of plan. Washington state has a questionnaire you can fill out now to see if you are currently eligible, they will have one that will notify you when you are eligible in the next couple of weeks. It is all honor system based.

The second I can I want that vaccine. I'm going to be pretty low on the list (30s, healthy, had covid in December) but I cannot wait. I live with my parents who are both over 70 and I've lived in fear that I would somehow give it to them and kill them. Of course then my dad gave it to us and we were thankfully all fine but as soon as we can we are all getting the vaccine. We miss our family.
I've been what I call vaccine cautious in the past, but this year has really made me think. If you'd asked me five years ago if I would be getting a brand new vaccine I would have laughed in your face. I'm very much of the "wait and see" crowd. 2020 changed everything.
I have a brand new niece (2 days old) and nephew (2 months old) and I would really like to meet them before they are walking.

She’s smoked for over 90 years. We used to try and her her to quit, telling her it’d give her more years (she got us on that!) As she has said before, when it’s her time it’ll be her time. Nothing she’s done will change that.
