I saw something today, about a planned inauguration for the real president in early March. They won’t give up.
Where did I see this? I can’t find it now.

I find that I have underestimated it. I think too many have. I haven't because I wade in their pool from time to time to see what the gullible, dangerous and delusional are up to. I try to point it out to the rest of us, but people don't seem to fathom the full danger of the Beliefs over Reality people. It is the end of civilization when we all run around w/our own unprovable beliefs as the basis the rules of society. The progress over the last 200 years has been largely from the benefits of science, data, evidence, tests, etc. WHERE THERE IS NO VALUE TO A HYPOTHESIS IF IT CAN'T BE DEMONSTRATED REPEATEDLY and INDEPENDENTLY.

I got an update from my coworker who is a staunch pro Trump person. Our conversations at the beginning were fascinating but there became a point I could no longer understand how someone I felt was pretty smart could fall for some of this. She told me that the inauguration was fake. President Biden is not going to be president long. We are under military control and they are using President Biden as a screen. She states that the entire military contingent there guarding on Inauguration day deliberately turned their backs on him when he came through. They did not salute. She pointed out that he did not have access to the Pentagon and when I pointed out that Trump denied him the access during transition and he now has access, she went with "well I wouldn't have given him access either." She also keeps saying "just watch, big things are coming and you are going to be shocked." Except she has been saying that for a year and so far NONE of the things she talks about have happened. She believes in the child sex abuse ring run by democrats and Hollywood. She believes that Trump cleared out Gitmo in order to house all the people that are going to be arrested in connection to that ring. She believes we are getting a new currency and all debts will be forgiven to reset the financial issues, she believes 100% that Trump won the election and that President Biden is not the true president. She believes that COVID is nothing more than a strong flu strain and that the numbers are over inflated so that states can get more money. Every single conspiracy out there she is a believer and claims to have spent hours upon hours researching these things and she is the only one aware of what is going on in the world. It truly is fascinating. She didn't give dates like March 6th but now Im going to ask and see what rabbit hole that takes us.

It's astonishing to me that so many have been exploited and misled by these conspiracy theories. If we were to try to find a movie that followed a similar unlikely plot, we wouldn't pay money to go see it.

My daughter is in the Navy and the minute Biden was sworn in she was instructed to remove Trump's picture from their Chain of Command wall....she's been in for five years. She said when they had to replace Obama with Trump it wasn't nearly as quick. She sent me a picture of her removing Trump's picture, so not all of the military has been informed of the Biden screen.

Actually our work situation makes this easy. We work from home and can flex our hours pretty easily. Our job actually works hard to keep us apart (another vent for another time) so they can get away with things or shove it of as "you are the only one". Shes fully functional. Hell she runs a household way better than I do and I'm a single cat mom. You would not think she was "one of those" unless you talked with her like I did earlier in the year.

I think the media has always portrayed these types as fringe and out there. They make them look like loners and honestly the unibomber comes to mind. The truth is over the last four years we are seeing that this is not the case. Rational, educated people have fallen for this stuff. They are 100% functional in their daily lives. They do all the things normal humans do, they just believe in these alternate theories. Maybe it is because my dad was a con man and could con the smartest people into the stupidest things I have ever seen that it doesn't surprise me so much. At some points I did express to her that I just couldn't believe she was falling for this stuff. I do think at some point two things happened: The need to be right vs the need to not have to admit being taken in by the fake information.

She's not one of those in your face people. I have several other friends who are the same. They are quiet about their views and beliefs. They don't go out to to protest or storm capital buildings but it is obvious who they support and what they believe when they are among friends. and unfortunately they believe what Trump says

I am offering this as an observation and not a direct comparison or criticism, but there are millions of functional people walking around who believe that a virgin gave birth, that the earth was literally created in 7 days, and that dinosaur bones were put in the earth as a hoax or test of faith - among a great many other improbable things. There are functional people who think that Scientology is truth, that a man found scripture under a tree in New York, that god led their people out of the desert and asked them to cut off their sons’ foreskins and never eat pork or shellfish as a sign of their faith, that there are multiple humanoid gods who reign over various aspects of life, etc, etc. When you consider the wide variety of unlikely things that functional people believe, it’s not that hard to see how a need for belonging and shared culture - in addition to a strong dose of white supremacist fantasy - led otherwise normal people to engage in the Q conspiracy theory. People are remarkably able to compartmentalize their thought processes this way.

On the one hand she is highly functional, is way more organized than I am, runs her house like a tight ship. (I can almost guarantee there are no expired cake mixes in her cupboard, LOL!) BUT she is religious to a fault (and the church she goes to is sometimes described as a cult by former members, there’s a lot of group think going on there) and some of the things she comes up with are downright wacky. She won’t talk about the crazy stuff with just anybody. Aside from her immediate next door neighbors and occasionally us non-local family members, I doubt very much that she really even talks to anybody else who isn’t a friend from her church and I’m sure they all believe the same stuff she does. She absolutely lives inside that bubble. If you happened to be the cashier who rings her up at the grocery store, you would think she’s a totally rational, really nice and normal lady. You would never think for a second that she believes some of the nutty conspiracy theory stuff she has said to me.

OMG! I am at a retreat this weekend and there is a woman here that is spewing all of the above conspiracy theory crap. I have had to sit here with earbuds in, binge watching on my tablet so I don't have to listen to her. I want to scream at her to shut up with the crazy shit.

Unless discussions happen, we have no idea who believes what. We have no idea if someone is a wife beater, burgler, documented or not, child molester until someone points it out. Of course they also don't put bumper stickers on their cars as do many political persons do. I have a friend I had no idea about until after she mentioned a specialist doctor I found for her was Muslim. She said but that's ok, because he is very good. I knew then and realised there had been other signals I had missed. It was an awakening for me.

I have relatives who have lost jobs and cut off all family and friend ties because of what they are fed by Qanon. More dangerous is that a great number of military and police folk have gone to the dark side as well, under the guise of “patriotism.”

I’ve spent time on r/QAnonCasualties, a supportive subReddit for people whose family or friends have embraced Qish conspiracies (the term “Q” is rapidly falling out of favor among adherents). If nothing else, I’ve learned that believers are a very loose confederacy - not only when it comes to all the conspiracy details but also when it comes to functionality and ideological focus:
-Some are educated professionals who keep going to work. Some run functional households and are involved in the community. Many are occupationally functional but have, say, thrown out/banished spouses or of-age children who got the Covid vaccine. -Some have transferred all their savings to gold, stopped working and stopped paying bills - including mortgages and taxes - because Trump will forgive their debts, abolish taxes and redistribute wealth. -Some have been evicted or foreclosed and are spending their savings living in hotels literally waiting each day for The Darkness. -Some pay their bills and live very normally but police streets and malls, approaching girls who look like they’ve been trafficked to offer rescue.
-Others still are probably actively planning political rebellion or are waiting for the bat signal to join in.

The second and third group may end up diminishing the republican voting ranks, especially if some of the newer voting laws are strongly enforced.
Not paying taxes = federal crime, loss of voting rights.
Living in a hotel = no legal address, and without proof of residency, no vote.
That would be ironic.

Evangelical church leaders are having difficulties holding members away from Qanon. Evangelical leader Russell Moore tells Axios that belief in QAnon is becoming an increasing problem within many Christian denominations throughout the United States. "[I'm] talking literally every day to pastors, of virtually every denomination, who are exhausted by these theories blowing through their churches or communities," Moore says. ** www.rawstory.com/qanon-2653183697/
