Our egg slicer broke so I’m looking for a new one. Unfortunately, even the highly rated ones have a fair amount of reviews about wires breaking. I’m leaning towards the OXO one, but it looks large and I probably won’t be able to store it in my utensil drawer. Do you own an egg slicer and if so, do you like the one you have?

Yes. It is a dollar store egg slicer and I've had it for years and years. Why would anyone spend more than a dollar for an egg slicer? If it craps out you just get another one for a dollar.

I have a traditional looking one. I do have to keep it in a different drawer but I don't use it as much as my other utensils so that is ok with me.

I have a cheap one. I’ve never used it to slice eggs. I use it to slice mushrooms.

Yes. I use it quite a bit. It is a metal(ish?) one, I am thinking probably from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It is sturdy and easy to clean.
It is a pretty basic one but I am not sure how much you can jazz up an egg slicer? I await to be amazed and enabled. 😄

I hate hard boiled eggs and don't own an egg slicer. But if I can buy a decent version of an item and use it for years, I will always choose that option instead of the "buy cheap crap, break, repeat" option.

I love hard boiled eggs, and use my egg slicer often. But I have honestly never heard of wires snapping or rusting. And I only ever buy the cheap ones. I have mine for years.
I hope you find a good one. The cheap ones are easy to replace anyway.

If you are using an egg slicer to make egg salad, toss it in the drawer and pull out a grater. I use the orange blade of this OXO Good Grips Set. Once you have grated eggs for your egg salad you will never go back to slicing.

I win. I have a super cheap one that I got at a garage sale for $.10. Works great. I never thought to use it for mushrooms. At my store there isn't a difference in price between sliced and whole. I can put it in the dishwasher which is one of my criteria.

I have a simple old-school one that we've had for decades. I only use it for eggs and only use it when making the rare egg, tuna, or potato salad. I've never tried mushrooms in it because I don't see the need to get something else dirty when I'm mostly likely already using a knife that I can use for slicing mushrooms.

A pastry cutter works way better for chopping eggs for egg salad than an egg slicer. Other than that, I just use a knife.

Yes and I have the oxo one and it fits fine in my standard sized utensil drawer. I had to make a little room for it but once it is in, it’s in.

Crikey, Dh brought a cheapy egg slicer into our relationship 30 years ago, no idea how old it was then, but it still works, and I use it regularly. However, I now find myself needing this one. Damnit.

So the chop is quite fine. And smashing the eggs through is very fun! I do have an egg slicer, but it’s at least 20 years old. I mostly use it for slicing strawberries or for slicing eggs for team/theatre meals (salad bar) when the kids were in school.

I have a really old one from Pampered Chef that I got at least 22 years ago when I sold PC. I use it for my eggs, strawberries, mushrooms and grapes. Never had a single problem with it.

This one restaurant has an egg sandwich with sliced eggs. They layer it with other things. It is so good. The place is far from me, over an hour drive, so I can’t wait to go there again.
