I ask this question because of fear-mongering being spouted by guys like this one.
What is a far left agenda?

I have conservative friends who are afraid that "socialism" will be foisted upon all of us: socialized medicine; astronomical taxes; big, big government.

Its a term that has been used to describe ideologies such as: socialism, communism, anarcho-communism, left-communism, Marxism–Leninism, Trotskyism, and Maoism.

And bears no relation to anything that has been proposed by this administration. Republicans get away with using words like socialism to describe normal, compassionate social programs and common sense things like fully funding public education because their supporters are either ignorant of what socialism is, or willing to prey on/profit off of those who are ignorant.

I just read an article about a black woman in a prosperous mostly white community (a lot like mine) trying to combat racist acts and statements directed toward her children and others in the schools and in the larger community and was met with resistance (shocker), with people calling diversity and sensitivity training “socialist”. So apparently a far left agenda, aka “socialism” now has taken on a new meaning—anything unpalatable to the haters. link

I had to say to one person talking about Joe and his love affair with Antifa "Um, you do realize that Antifa thinks Joe is fascist, right?" If you're not a Republican, you're far left, I guess. I don't think they realize that Joe and Kamala are on the moderate to conservative end of the Democratic spectrum.

I feel like Biden is closer to my beliefs (registered republican) than Trump was. I believe normal republicans recognize that Biden is actually middle. The disagreement comes with Kamala. Many believe her to be far left like AOC. I will be honest that I don’t know enough about her to agree or disagree with that view. I do know that I am not worried about Biden.

I have a few more progressive beliefs (particularly when it comes to climate change and LGBTQ rights), but, for the most part, would describe myself as a moderate Democrat.

I hope you are right about normal Republicans believing Biden is in the middle. I am also a registered Republican, but after terrorism at the Capitol, I switched parties to the Democrat party. I have been a Biden fan, and he was my top choice out of everyone running! So I am so happy now!

I know that many republicans believe that, but the facts don’t bear it out. And I have to think those beliefs are fueled in part by racism. All those brown-skinned people are radical leftists who want free stuff. 🙄 (Not shooting the messenger here, just tagging on to what you said.)

IMHO the term doesn’t even have any real meaning here. It’s become a slur and a tool to oppose any and every progressive policy and it ignores the lurch to the far right that has taken place over the las several decades.

Are they planning on collecting Social Security and using Medicare? Might any of their children ever received Welfare, food stamps, CHIP healthcare... Or even SSDI? Free lunch at school? Let us not forget that more white people are on Welfare then Black people!

By shutting down things(pipeline, blue collar jobs) "we" will become more and more dependent on the government/welfare.

I am pretty far left and I gotta tell you, I cannot see the administration from where I sit.
Please do not get me wrong. This is better from my perspective, we will have a functioning government, and I will sleep better at night as a result. But “socialism” and “far left” have lost all meaning when used by people on the right.

Can anyone give examples of that? Or if ANTIFA members being elected to Congress (as opposed to the number of far right, openly racist, a anon supporting members of the Republican Party)?

I would be willing to bet that very few of those people who don’t like AOC and Kamala don’t actually know much about them, either.

I am concerned about the environment and climate change, but do not support that proposal - you can't really call it legislation as much of it was just wishful thinking. I would consider that to be the furthest left I've seen Kamala Harris on most issues - although she's kind of went back and forth on health care. ETA ah hell I reread your post and realized that you're rightly pointing out that many are tying VP Harris to AOC for reasons very different than policy. I answered your post from a pure policy connection and don't feel I should delete it, but absolutely agree that the vast majority of people are not actually looking at policy connections.

I don’t even know because they call Joe & Kamala ‘far left’ and Joe is slightly left of center but pretty much a moderate and it seems to me Kamala is pretty center
Bernie isn’t even a real socialist so who knows what or who is ‘far left’? Even AOC isn’t as far left as the right wing nut jobs are far right.
