I’ve been on a crafting break for around a year. I’m planning to start catching up on my pile of pictures beginning next weekend. I have plenty of stuff in my stash but I was wondering if there are any new trends I ought to look into. I’m always up for checking out something new.

Welcome back! Not much has changed in the last year....if anything, shopping your stash is the biggest trend. Use what you have and jump I!

Virtual Crops are new (or just more popular) this past year. There are two 2PeasRefugees virtual crops every weekend this winter that you can jump into. Saturday 6pm to 10pm EST and Sunday noon to 4pm EST. Please jump in anytime! Just watch for a thread here with a link. Ours are free, but there are other online crops run by scrap celebs that you can get in on as a paid event or for a membership fee.

In general, not much new, other than new product lines. "New" would be seasonal releases, some newer companies.
I would recommend:
Go to your favorite store and browse the scrapbook aisle.
Go to your favorite online store and search "new products" and scroll backwards by newest to oldest.
Every persons scrapbook style is different(for instance I love patterned paper, stickers, matting my photos), so it's hard to recommend specific products or product lines, without knowing your personal scrapbook style and type of product preference.

Wow, glad I'm not the only one who thought there's nothing new!😁

Slimline cards ( business envelope shape ) are gaining in popularity. Paper glazes seem to be popping up frequently too. Of course there are like 4 new distress colors in the last year. The soeckled egg blue is my fave ( the only one I bought ) They aren’t new but new to me are the guilded mettalic alcohol inks in bottles and it’s just the perfect glittery touch ( to me ) If you have a local paper store, and they are open, mask up and try to visit because I’m pretty sure they are all just trying to hang on.

TM has raised prices and started bundling items making them less of a deal. Not to mention lots of store closures.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the hop. I’ve seen a lot of hops popping up on YT. Lots of continuing groups, too. Mini kit Monday, she’s crafty paper pad class(free), and baby got scraps are some examples. Also, OP, lots of people joined the Scrapbook Generation 6x6 paper pad sketch class Facebook group. It’s too late to join now but the class is definitely worth $12. I think there was some mention of them doing another fb group for the 6x6 paper pad one page sketches.

I avoided it for a long time and just joined about a year ago just for groups. You can follow along with Suzanna Lee and Nicole Bingaman on YouTube. Nicole did all the sketches and Suzanna did many of them.

I’m always up for checking out something new. Out of necessity I have been going to CM crops, and CM is really doing a lot with elaborate border punches. Now I am not a punch person but these are really taking borders up a few notches. So maybe you want to check them out. I saw a birthday cake one that just came out and it was really detailed and cuts easily.

i don't know about trends, but i met someone who developed a new die cutting machine and will be selling them later this year. with so many companies going out of business, it's nice to hear about companies starting and coming out with new products.

How cool! Are you allowed to share anything more about it? Mostly I'm interested in if it has any new and interesting features!

It's based here in southern California. They debuted at Creativation last year. The creator is the nicest lady! She used to work for Sizzix before starting her company.

Thanks. Some good ideas here. Virtual crops would be interesting. No packing up supplies. Unfortunately I don’t have an LSS. I can always window shop on my iPad though. Slimline cards look like they’d be fun to try. Paper Glaze is intriguing. Thanks for the YouTube links. I can check those out this weekend. (I’m not on Facebook). I love CM’s tools. I’ll check that out. Can’t wait to here more about this new die cutting machine papersilly. Please keep us posted.

I use it only for Candy Crush and for church (FB live). I have locked down every security feature I could find. Like you, I hate that some things are only on FB.

Something else new, AC let go Shimelle so she is partnering with Scrapbook.com doing Monthly Best of Both Worlds Kits (pull from your stash, buy local or buy through her affiliate link). She scraps with the kits on 2 weekly FB lives (Wed and Friday) and occasional You Tube videos.
