gar Do you like the look of the mosaic crochet? That is very popular at the moment and gives more of a woven feel to the fabric than lace. It’s pretty much just double and treble crochet too so quite simple. Look for mosaic crochet groups on Facebook for a feel for it. Tinna’s groups are particularly good as she makes step by step videos to go with her designs. She designed the Queen blanket I finished last month and the Montana I’ll be starting soon. US and U.K. have different terminology for the stitches so you need to be aware of that.

gar gillyp is right about mosaic crochet, it's definitely a woven effect. If you look at the Queen CAL projects on Ravelry you will see a great array of colour combinations and looks. The finished blanket looks way more complicated than the actual stitches involved.

Had I to do it again I might do two rows per day. It's ironic you are having this experience with the temperature blanket. My crochet one was so big (and I did just single crochet stitches) that I ended at June 30. So I did 6 months. And it was plenty big enough. I'm sorry you are having the opposite problem.

I've knit (knitted?) the cuff and leg of a magic heel sock, hoping to get the heel section done today. I'm using this yarn from Hobbii, I can't remember who shared it but thank you
I've ordered some needles, I've been getting a bit frustrated with the cord on my Knit Pro Zings so I'm giving these a go Addi Flexiflips I’ll be interested to hear what you think of the flexiflips. I have a friend who swears by them, but I found them hard to hold.

gillyp - not particularly - sorry I'm picturing something like these photos but bear in mind I have NO idea whether they're easy or super tricky yet! Sorry, they're super huge!

gar just looking at that blanket and not seeing the written pattern, it looks very easy to me. I will also go against the opinion here on the mosaic crochet projects. My Christmas blanket is the first project like that I've worked on. And I think there is a lot of counting going on to create the pattern. I'm not sure I would have been confident with something like that as my first attempt. I also recommend Attic 24. Lucy's patterns look lovely, her color schemes are perfect, and she has many patterns that are easy enough for a beginner.

We can’t all like the same things gar. I really like that second blanket but I think doing something that size all the same would make me lose interest quite quickly. Jeremysgirl is correct that there is a lot of counting in the mosaic style but I do find it easier than many other patterns and it is literally one row/one colour at a time. jeremysgirl, I think your Christmas blanket is so lovely it persuaded me to buy the pattern. I might not make the whole thing but I like the idea of sections for table mats or cushion covers.

I'll mull it over I'd be doing it because that's what I want for the bedroom rather than just randomly picking something to do for fun, if you know what I mean, so that might help

I do like the Moon Shadow blanket(and if you watch American Gods I also like Shadow Moon!!) I had a read of the pattern and it's all done in Herringbone stitch which sounds a bit fiddly and slow going. I wonder if you could get a similar look with a tweedy grey yarn and rows of double crochet? You could use a chunky yarn to speed things up.

I don't know any stitches yet but I'll come back to this when I start looking properly

I’ve missed participating here but my craft of choice for the last few years has been scrapbooking. I restarted the blanket I was supposed to complete by last October for my sister’s retirement gift. Hopefully posting my progress here will keep me on track.

My goal this month is to finish up my Woodland blanket. I had another horrible bout of messing it up over the past week...GRRR. When all is said and done I will have crocheted enough for 2 blankets, easily! >:/ I'm probably about 30 rows (15 color changes) until it's the length I'd like. Then I'll have about 200 yarn ends to work in (no exaggeration), blocking, and the border.
I'm also mulling over my next crocheting project. I'm thinking a baby blanket to have on hand as a gift. I have several 30-35YO married and/or in serious relationships nieces who are coming up on that point in their lives. Preferably a blanket design without a million ends that have to be woven in! Do you girls have any suggestions for a pattern you like? I'd love to play with a design with several different textures in it. Also, do you all have any suggestions for yarn to use for a baby blanket? Is there a yarn weight and/or yarn blend that you'd recommend?

Thank you so much. Are you able to buy that yarn locally or through another crafting website, or do you purchase it directly from them? I clicked on their store finder and admittedly only checked a couple of places listed but they didn’t have any in stock. And also, could you please tell me how many rolls you needed per blanket? Thank you from this still newbie

Thank you! I just poked my nose into the daisy blanket to start and I love that she tells exactly what yarn to buy and how much. I’m still to new to crocheting to figure out that part on my own.

I am in the process of moving into a new craft room, but I have the fabric picked out to start my murder mystery quilt. murdermysteryquilt.com/I decided I was NOT going to buy any fabric and would totally shop my stash for this, so it’s going to be interesting. I’m excited to get started. I’m hoping to finish the January block before February is released! I also have a couple WIP quilts that are close to completion, but need a few more blocks or steps. I’d like to get those done, but we’ll see how long and complex the moving process is. I may be trying to accomplish the same things in March,

I got free shipping, and their online prices were actually cheaper than they were locally. I bought 3 skeins per blanket but I'm not yet finished with my first one. I think that will work fine because I am using white also. I am alternating colors. But if you wanted to do just one color and not switch, I would probably buy 4-5 skeins. Sorry I am not more help with that. I will see if I can post a picture later of where I am on this blanket.

I have looked at these threads since the beginning and I really enjoy what people have made or are making.
I do a number of things. Sometimes I think I might be a little ADHD. I used to do counted cross stitch several years ago. I stopped because my eyesight went south. I have since had cataract surgery and I have picked it up again. I am currently working on The Toy Gatherer by Shepherds Bush. Tina and Teri are childhood friends of mine. I did several of their designs last year.
I am also currently working on a Memory book for this year.
