When I first started scrapping I was buying anything and everything to build my stash from store sales, yard sales, excepting leftovers from other people, etc. Also circa 2010 when I started scrapbooking regularly, I was preordering pretty much every collection out there. I also was into mini books back then and bought a ton of dimensional embellishments. After my child was born in 2012, I started doing PL and layouts and went to flat scrapping. I realized that a lot of things that I owned including wooden stamps were not my style. I have been selling on Facebook groups since 2012 and downsized my stash to what I use and like. I do not shop at box stores anymore and do buy things I love no matter the cost. I learned that supplies need to be used pretty fast or they get outdated and become harder to use or to be inspired by. The scrapbooking industry is not the same as 10 years ago but there will always be someone making new product that we can buy from. 17 years in scrapping made me a scrapbooking snob but I am a happier person because of it and though I still spend money on the things I like, I am more purposeful with my spending and am very picky.

I regret the We R Memory Keepers 3x4 card punch. That thing is heavy and always left extra holes around the paper and I could never get the card out without bending it. Ugh. That thing was a headache.

The biggest regret I have is buying the little things. You know the stuff that’s cheap—so you pick it up. Not because you love it. But because it’s cheap and you could make it work someday. I should have just saved my money and bought what I wanted. I no longer do that, but all that money and stuff that has been purged. Such a waste. I was watching a decluttering show last night. The presenter said, "If the best thing about a purchase is the price, should you really be buying it?". I'm getting better at controlling impulse purchases. I'm trying to only buy what I love and use what I buy.

I’ve definitely had my share of regrets over the years. The first thing that comes to mind is the Cricut. I had the original and bought a bunch of cartridges, think I used it twice. I did a huge purge just before the lockdowns started last year and I gave that thing, the cartridges and a ton of paper to a kindergarten teacher, she was thrilled. that would be me too !
