My takeaway from your comment is that the 40K deaths in Texas, including that of the representative, are no big deal because NYC had more? Odd perspective. Yeah, not what I got. More that New York did worse (shaded of course that New York is a Democrat state). So shove off with your thoughts that Republican Texas has not done a stellar job.

useful to consider population density in covid stats: Internet says: - Texas has 110 residents per square mile - New York has 27,000 people per square mile Larger cities in Texas are much higher (approx 3000 people per sq mile) than general Texas density, but no where near NY. We also experienced our first surge much later than NY did, when more was known about the virus, how it spread, and how to prevent spread. But Texas was determined not to learn any lessons from the mistakes made by blue states early in the pandemic.

IDK, I kind of thought 40K people dead was bad no matter what.

Unfortunately no one has done a stellar job. It was difficult with lack of direction, lack of knowledge, lack of supplies. NY and NJ delt with Covid almost a year ago along with other states in the northeast without sufficient PPE, while Texas and Florida got PPE, other supplies not needed at the time. Texas had the opportunity with other states the learn from the states who were hit earlier last year. Why was it necessary to point out the political leaning of states involved? It should not ever matter when lives are at stake.

What I've learned from "pro-Lifers" over the years is that only certain lives are worth something, and others have no worth at all. Ironic, given the dramatic handslapping. I'm sorry that Wright is dead. I'm sorry for his family and loved ones.

It should not ever matter when lives are at stake. Oh, I whole heartedly agree that the political leanings of the states involved shouldn’t matter. I pointed it out because that’s what I believe leftturn was hinting at, based on her past posting history. Trust when I tell you I know no one has done a stellar job. My DD started the pandemic as an ICU Nurse in South Carolina, is now an ICU Nurse in New York, since August. To say I’ve obsessed over this mess, country wide, doesn’t sufficiently state it. Just when I feel like my DD is going to get thru unscathed now that she’s fully vaccinated, new variants show up.
