Nuts, I tell ya.
All for a cheap TV that's gonna be on sale for the same price in Jan. I think they're in it for the publicity. Why on earth get in line now, instead of 2 weeks from now?
There is not a darn thing I need or want from Black Friday. Nothing. I've done the BF dark o'clock shopping adventure. It was fun, no pressure. Got some cool stuff. Now people are giving up Thanksgiving to go shopping. Wow. I'm betting these ladies have families.

I saw it on the news and thought, don't they work? Is it not going to cost more to be in line than just paying the price? How much are they going to save if they are off work, eating out, etc, etc. What are the logistical solutions that make this a good idea? Or a fiscally sound one at minimum? I can't wrap my head around sitting outside a store for 2 weeks, freezing, being uncomfortable, eating crap food. For a what??

That's just insane. No matter how much they are saving, they are losing that savings in the wasted time.

I have camped out a few times on Black Friday. Not no damn 2 weeks though lol. A lot of times the people who are camping for days/weeks are doing it in shifts with other friends/family. So the spot is being held at all times.

We got an awesome deal from best buy a couple of years ago and I shopped online from the comfort of my home.

I wouldn't even get out of bed early on the actual day, let alone two weeks early. Not even if you paid me. Fighting crowds of bitches putting their carts and asses all over me just to try and get a TV or the latest video game system is not my idea of a good time. I tried it exactly once, years ago, when I was already up early because I'd worked the night before. Never ever again.

Uh, Not me. I'd gladly pay full price to NOT stand in line for two weeks.
One BF morning my sister wanted to stand in a crazy long line around the perimeter of Target to save $10 on flannel sheets. I gave her a ten and told her to come back the next day and pay full price. It wasn't worth our time. And she never went back for the sheets, but she kept my $10!

Sounds like they just want to be on the news. Or maybe their time isn't worth much. Do they know Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away? If they have that much free time, maybe they could get a part time job for a couple weeks (temp agency)

Target has done a wonderful job the couple of years I went there at opening. It was very well laid out and I didn't have any problems.
I have never braved walmart on bf.
This year I will hit sports authority and that may be it.
Amazon's lightning deals have sucked so have. All jewelry and clothes.

I can see waiting in line a day or so, especially if you are camped out with friends and that is part of the fun. But this far ahead sounds like they are trying to get attention.

That's ridiculous. What was their deciding factor on timeline?! Were they worried someone would get out there tomorrow and they might have to be third- gasp!! Hehe

I would think places may have ordinances about camping outside too so hopefully other people trying this would be asked to leave. So lame.
I did Wal-mart a couple years ago after we had Thanksgiving dinner and I think the thing we were going for was for sale at 8 pm (Xbox). That seems reasonable to me. However, I also understand those that think nothing more than life's essentials should be open that day.

Boy, I bet she'd be pissed to know they've already started their Black Friday sale online. Anyone else here get the emails?
I saw a 50" Visio for 499.00 and a jawbone for 50.00. You do have to be one of their reward customers.

Then you have people pulling the plastic off early on the pallets and getting stuff which causes fights.

Maybe Best Buy paid them to sit there and draw attention to the store. Lots of people are probably wondering what is so good that someone will sit there two weeks. I just can't see any other reason why someone would do this.

And my family used to laugh at me and my Fred Meyer sock sale every year. Of course now they all give me their sock list And now one of my sisters likes to go with me, so it's all fun for us. And that is just about the only store I hit on BF any more.

Boy I can't wait to work BF at Target!!! My shift starts at 5:45pm.... Actually I won't mind it, we will have our dinner done and out of the way. Time to relax before heading in. I am getting paid time and half plus $1, so the pay is pretty good, although I could have gotten a later shift for for an dollar.

I cannot believe a man would treat a woman like that and be so bold as to take something out of your cart. Please tell me you let out a shriek and got the games back? I would have followed him to the register sobbing dramatically and asked for a manager.

This is local to me.
This isn't their first rodeo. They have done this for several years now.
Must be nice to be able to take 3 weeks off from work or family or life or all 3 to just sit and wait.

And that is just about the only store I hit on BF any more. I can always tell it is close to thanksgiving because my sock supply is running low! I love my half price socks and pj's! i go out on BF with my mom, and we used to go with my Gramma, and it is just a fun tradition for us. We do get some good deals, but we don't wait in line, just go a few minutes after the store opens and just go get out items, we have never missed out an anything we wanted, and we just have fun. I agree those women probably just want their 15 minutes, but even though it is their choice it is kind of sad. Even switching off with people, I can't imagine their time is worth so little.

I got a cheap portable DVD player that ended up lasting about exactly as long as you would expect based on price, and a set of Mikasa wine goblets that I do still have and do still enjoy but that have been at that Black Friday price innumerable times since I braved the angry hordes. Never again. There is just no object that is worth it for me.

Of course they are. Because they're getting their 5 minutes of fame for it (like this thread), which is exactly what they want.
I highly doubt they care nearly as much about the electronics as they do the media coverage.
