I've found out that she is pissed at her kid. She is mad at what seems to be her sigmificant other. they argued about his eye needs (optometrist office) and how she didn't want to be here because she needed to buy batteries to keep their house warm and that they didn't need to fix his eyes. twice she stated she wished they'd hurry up so that she could go to her parents house to eat dinner. apparently the line for food stamps was pretty long today. she's tired....
It is a pretty quiet office. We've all heard her life story at this point.
There was no attempt to talk a little quieter. In fact, I think she talked louder to express her displeasure at how long it was taking.
Really, step into the vestibule, lower your hoice, or wait until you get outside.

Yeah, I was sitting in the waiting area of the Peds clinic with my son and got to hear one side of a very graphic conversation of the little boys next to me and his undescended testicle and what they were going to do about it.
Luckily where I work people step out into the hall for personal calls.

We aren't allowed to use our phones at work unless it is an emergency or we have a planning period (once a day). That is a blessing. I hate hearing other people's conversations.

NOTHING will ever beat the conversation in the sauna at the club one night...people where leaving and several told her to take it elsewhere. Porn wouldn't go that far - the verbal part at least....

Seriously there's no accounting for the way some people were raised. Sometimes I just want to walk up to these people, put the sweetest smile on my face, then right as I'm in their face yell.at.the.top.of.my.lungs : INDOOR VOICE!!

Wait a minute, justkat- are you my husband? I do this. Thankfully I am rarely on my phone so it doesn't happen often. I think it is because I have a harder time hearing the other person I talk louder. Still no excuse!

Yes, it's so annoying to hear someone being so loud. I was in Target Monday and heard a lady before I saw her. I had to hear every detail of her precious child's attempt to go to the bathroom. She might as well have gotten on the PA because I wasn't the only one disgusted by how loud she was. I have no problem with people talking on their cell in public if they keep their voice down and use some discretion.

Holy cow the crap I've heard while out in public from people on their cell phones. You seriously have to be in your own little bubble to not realize that people are staring at you because they now know more than they ever wanted to know about a stranger.

DD and I were on a Disney bus from a Disney hotel going to Downtown Disney just two nights ago when we heard the girl sitting behind us screech into her phone "He was f***ing me up the ass when my dad walked in!" I kid you not. DD and I both turned and stared because we just couldn't believe what we'd heard. The girl did look mortified when she realised we had heard her. What on earth is the world coming to when you can't even escape such talk in Disney?!

I find that this is most cell phone talkers. They don't seem to realize they are standing right next to other people and giving their life story. Thankfully, most of the talk is fairly meaningless.

Somewhere on the interwebs is a guy who will go up to people having cell phone conversations, sit next to them, and start having the other half of the conversation. I can only ever do that under my breath.
Wanna talk annoying? The other day, in Barnes and Noble, these two guys were having a conference call with a third person-- they put one of their cell phones on speaker! I wonder if the lady on the phone knew that she was on the speaker.

I usually hear this.. So then she GOES " abc".. and he GOES "abc"... and so I'm LIKE... and he's LIKE.... and I GO.. and then he GOES... ugh! The word you are looking for is " SAID". He said, I said, etc. But don't be afraid to get crazy and use "replied", "responded", "exclaimed", "shouted", "whispered", "interjected", "sobbed", "muttered", or any other word that might help me tolerate your one sided conversation.

Somewhere in Hollywood, Florida, is a man who is having a mental breakdown, and his wife left him over it. The friends have tried to help, but they suspect he's into pills, ya know? It's sad, but his kids shouldn't be left with him.
I know all of this because one of those "friends" thought this was an appropriate topic of conversation in the shoe department at Marshalls.

I am on my phone in the doctor's office, grocery store, wherever... TEXTING. I hate talking on my phone. It's a good phone. Reception is good. Texting is faster and easier and it's private! No one needs to know I got my monthly whatever....or I am buying socks tonight or anything. The beauty of texting.

I have not done a really long international flight since (some) airlines have allowed cell use on board. My husband has booked us a month's worth of travel starting in May next year and I am already dreading the potential hours filled with the stuff reported on this thread! Remember the threads with the complaints about noisy kids & so forth? Not everyone on a long-haul flight has a kid, not every kid on a flight is a brat, but everyone has a cellphone. Ugh.

I feel sorry for anyone else within daily hearing distance of the woman I was behind in the checkout line a couple of days ago! Half way putting her things through she stopped and started a dickens of a loud row with her family with much swearing, much better left private!! After several minutes of this she clicked off her phone, turned to me and said 'just having a domestic with my daughter', put a couple more things through and then answered the phone when it rang leaving the rest of us standing whilst she continued the row! ::)It sounded like a thing that happened regularly!

Its even worse when they are using a bluetooth earpiece and you cannot see it under their hair. Looks like they are talking to themselves, or worse to you!

I have actually responded to a few people who I thought were talking to me. They look at me like I'm crazy. I will never understand this entire thing. Is your life that busy that you have to have these personal conversations while you're shopping? I just don't get it.

And I was just making fun of my teen and her friend that no one wanted to answer the ringing cell phone...they text these days that they hate "talking" on the phone. Maybe I should be grateful, lol.
The thing that annoys me is cell phones is the constant noises. Dh has some stupid news channel that gives updates and bings when it does. His keyboard has the clacking sound on. Calculator on it makes noise. While I don't mind the occasional alert sound or ring, the constant noise drives me INSANE!

Or the man who can't clarify to me whether he has a medication allergy because he's too busy betting on college football via his phone. Or maybe he was doing the imaginary team thing (brain fart...what's that called?)

Ah yeah the bluetooth. I was following a woman in the grocery store one day, we seemed to be on the same path up and down the aisles. She talked on her bluetooth the entire time she was in that store.
I heard about her troubles at work. I heard about all her plans for the weekend. I heard about the trip they were taking next month. I heard about what they were bbq'ing for dinner that night. I heard about who they were having over for dinner and who they weren't having because they drink too much.
Maybe they drink too much because they have to listen to you talk ALL THE TIME!
And the kicker, she was with her husband and she never stopped once to talk to him.
We split up at the checkouts, wonder if she stopped talking when she was paying for her groceries?

Are there airlines that are allowing phone calls on cell phones? I remember reading about this recently but they were not going to allow phone calls, just other phone use like texting or getting on the internet to pea. I REALLY hope they don't start allowing people to make cell calls. If they do, I will fly airlines that don't allow it.........at least until they all give in and I don't have a choice. LOL

Those stores are not real big and there was only me and 2 other customers in the store. One customer was talking VERY loudly planning a party. I would walk to the opposite side of the store to browse and she seemed to follow me everywhere. I don't think she followed me intentionally, I think she did it because she wasn't paying attention to her shopping and was blindly following. After she followed me from one side of the store to the other about 3 times, I turned around and said "Am I invited to the party too?". I guess she got the message because she turned around and walked the other way and best........she lowered her voice.
