Oh that's right they are staged at the Capitol to protect Pelosi from Americans." "Why does he owe an apology or explanation? He can make a decision for his family! Life’s been remote for a year now - No doubt he was in contact and communicating! Does he need to be sitting in candlelight without power to be a good leader? I just laugh that his kid can say she wants a vacay and daddy makes it happen. If I had done that, my mom would say "why, do you have Cancun money? Because I don't have Cancun money. You want a vacation? Go pull weeds in the backyard or go to the library.". I'm sure that was just a BS excuse they came up with and I'm disgusted that he threw his kid under the bus. Ted and white privilege. |

And they are raising their daughters to think they need a man to escort them to a vacation, that they can't do it on their own! My girls are raised to know they are fully capable of doing things on their own and don't need a man to tell them how to do things. (and if I had sons, they would be raised that they can do things on their own and don't need a woman to tell them how to do things). Reading comments over the past year have really changed the way I think of our population as a whole.
This Ted Cruz story angers me on so many different angles!

Actually, going through the lines like a regular person might be the best thing for him right now. Let the people waiting in line with him make it really uncomfortable. Sounds like a little dose of appropriate consequences to me! ?? He was given police assistance in getting to the airport and while he was there. Which, of course, took police officers away from supporting the Houston community with more urgent needs during this crisis. I don't see any "appropriate consequences" for Ted there. I realize that he got a police escort. My statement was about how it would be appropriate for him to have to wait in line "like a regular person" (see the request for assistance from his office). He should have had to face real people and hear what they have to say. I know it didn't happen that way, but it should have. |

And, I looked him up on Wikipedia...I did not know his wife was the breadwinner in the family. She works for Goldman Sachs. He said he did test, and rather implied that the testing requirement delayed his earlier return...before later fessing up he had indeed intended to stay through the week. I’m sure someone somewhere is trying to see if he really did test though. |

The kid thing pisses me off so much as I detest when people bring up politicians' kids. I am a huge advocate of leaving them out of it! So the idea that he was going to bring up his 10 and 12 (I don't think she's actually had her birthday yet, but is either newly 13 or almost 13) wanting to go to Mexico with friends was just beyond the pale for me. He was absolutely insinuating that he needed to go and settle his teens who were going solo to Mexico - hoping people didn't realize how young they are or that his WIFE was going with them. Perhaps he thought he could finally leverage that old viral video by his "daughter" to his advantage. It's utter bullshit and he should be ashamed of himself.

I get it now. Ted and Heidi Cruz wanted their children to be safe, to have basic sanitary services like heat and running water, to leave behind a third-world apocalyptic nightmare for a safer place. Like so many parents before them, they decided to cross the Mexican border.

What a teaching moment this could have been for his kids. You know, where you help your neighbors and constituents, kinda like how Beto O'Rourke is doing.

In my experience, kids that age love feeling useful and making the world a better place. They just need the adults in their lives to set the example.
