The kid thing pisses me off so much as I detest when people bring up politicians' kids. I am a huge advocate of leaving them out of it! So the idea that he was going to bring up his 10 and 12 (I don't think she's actually had her birthday yet, but is either newly 13 or almost 13) wanting to go to Mexico with friends was just beyond the pale for me. He was absolutely insinuating that he needed to go and settle his teens who were going solo to Mexico - hoping people didn't realize how young they are or that his WIFE was going with them. Perhaps he thought he could finally leverage that old viral video by his "daughter" to his advantage. It's utter bullshit and he should be ashamed of himself. Agree. Jake Tapper tweeted to leave the kids out of it, and I was astonished to see replies asking why, or disagreeing. If it has to be explained to you why you donβt attack kids, then I donβt know what to tell you.

It would be mortifying for a teen, and even if the Cruz parents are shielding them pretty heavily, Iβm sure they hear about it at school.

We have some friends who went to Mexico recently. They were within the 90 days of having had Covid, so could use that paperwork as proof to get on the plane. But their resort gave them a paper that said they had a negative test results anyway. Even though they didnβt take a test. Interesting We all tested positive for Covid in Nov, but have zero βpaperworkβ Just a phone call from the health department I think it was just the email or letter saying you are positive and the date. I donβt know of anyone that got a call here.

I think that the oldest is 12. Itβs hard enough to be a teen, let alone having a jackass for a dad who will do or say anything to further his career.

People that are reporting on the throwing are fine w/me - so long as they don't blame the kids for being under the bus or takes pics of them there.

Also, supremely happy one of the parents on the email chain threw him and his wife under the bus

Old Ted was the one who dragged his kids into this nationwide debate. He brought all of this on HIMSELF. Of course people are going to report on it and follow up with it for that one simple fact.

I think that most people realize that kids should be left out of it, but there were some tweets that were asking why. Link

I have made it clear in a number of my posts - before the wifeβs texts were leaked - that I *never* believed that this was the kidsβ idea. I knew from the start that the responsibility lay with Ted & his wife. I think that it is totally appropriate to comment on how despicable and cowardly it is for Ted to blame his abominable choices on his tween daughters in order to avoid taking responsibility for those choices. The focus is on Ted, they are simply part of the collateral damage that Ted leaves behind in his wake. Like Darcy Collins, I am livid that an adult male politician would do this publicly to his own children.

What a teaching moment this could have been for his kids. You know, where you help your neighbors and constituents, kinda like how Beto O'Rourke is doing.
Right? "Sorry kids. Our state is in crisis and Daddy needs to be available here. Let's think of some ways we can help others in the community......."
In my experience, kids that age love feeling useful and making the world a better place. They just need the adults in their lives to set the example.
I saw a story on the news about a man who owns a furniture/mattress store in Texas opening the doors for people to come in for shelter. He said he wants to show his 10 yr. old granddaughter how important it is to help others. To bad Cruz doesn't show his kids that staying and helping others in a crisis is more important than taking a vacation.
(I know it was his idea for the trip, not the kid's idea. But he could have set a good example for them on help to help fellow Texans, who he is supposed to represent).

Everyone is blaming the parents.

Mattress Mack opens the doors of his furniture stores for people to stay every time we have some sort of weather crisis. And heβs a conservative. Cruz could definitely learn from the example.

Or he could learn from Al Franken
Oh wait the Democrats, lead by Kirsten Gillibrand, railroaded him out of the Senate instead of letting the voters decide if they wanted him to continue to represent their interest in Congress.

To be fair, Ted probably realizes the benefits of working remotely. I mean planning an insurrection over the Internet has been shown to be able to be done. So why should he stay in the US when he can do his primary work from Mexico?

It's pretty clear that his first thought wasn't "hey, what could I be doing for my state right now?" He didn't even consider that he was in a PUBLIC SERVICE role and that he *should* be doing something to help. He said that he "felt regret as soon as he got on the plan." If that is true, it is probably because he knew people were taking pictures and/or got messages from his staff telling him that Beto was actually out there doing the work. Then he though, "Oh, Shit. What should I be doing right now?" Since he has been back, what has he been doing besides lying?

BTW, not a rumor Linda's.
