Oh I found my people!!! haha
I will post a pic of this new bag!!! I can't imagine what it looks like for her to go to the trouble of ordering it! We don't exchange gifts normally.. or we just send silly stuff back and forth through Amazon.
I just remembered a story.. I used to help an elderly client (from my old job).. I would go to his house and do misc things for him..pay bills or declutter, whatever it would be. I remember the first time I went to his basement. His wife saved all those fancy shopping bags from the old fancy downtown stores... There were SOOOOO many of them... Probably close to 300 or more. I can't even remember what we did with them.. Now I kinda wish I kept some of them.. the ones that the stores are no longer around. BUT did I need them.. NOOoooooo.. lol

I love bags too! I keep the ziplock style bags that I get little stuff from amazon in because they have the 'zipper' closure on them! I have a half baked theory that women have a uterus so our love of bags is tied to that. Half baked at best. We recently (as in this week) decided to move houses and that has my brain spinning about all of the things I need to get rid of. Near the top of the list will be all of the bags that I've collected and never use. Here is a good tip though- instead of cheap paper gift bags, I've been getting those thin plastic-y ones from Dollar Tree to put gifts in. They're only $1 and are much better than paper because they won't fall apart nearly as fast. They even have some cute designs on them! (You're welcome!) I love zippered bags too, use them all over the house. I may or may not have purchased (and used) five sets of these bags.
Every year for Christmas MIL buys plastic store bags with handles to consolidate the smaller gifts for the entire family in and I think that’s brilliant. So times she wraps them before putting them in, sometimes it’s just tissue paper. So even though I almost never purchase them (I have a few favorites I’ve used for years), we always get 2 more each year. Most of the time I use them when I’m dropping off things with friends/family. But last year was simple black and white with a snap that I loved so I kept those suckers! I finally (mostly) got over my weakness for bags, but I still occasionally buy tote bags, I think it’s because I haven’t found the perfect one yet. Love them for road trips for keeping everything we use easily accessible. I can grab the bag from the floor without having to bend over (back issues) and DH can easily move them to and from the back seat even while driving. This thread is timely because my latest entry for that category was delivered today

sadly, me too. i like pretty paper shopping bags. i can't throw out the reusable plastic bags because they're supposed to be reusable but i never use them again. i also keep all these reusable cloth bags we get free from promotions or whatever. oh so many freaking bags. These are good for putting your shoes into before placing them in your suitcase. i usually put my shoes in the reusable plastic bags because they scrunch better and don't take up as much room as the fabric-ish bags.

Scoot over, Ladies. I would like a seat on this bench. I also have a bag addiction. Oddly though, not purses. I only have about 5 or 6 purses, and I'm fine with that.
But Oh, do I love the blue Ikea bags, both the big open top and the long zippered one. And especially the big square clear bags from Ikea that are meant for Christmas wreath storage, I think. I adore those! I keep extra pillows, blankets, dog toys, off-season clothing, etc. in them. I also have a thing for little zippered containers. The clear kind, the lunch bag size, the bitty ones for things like earphones, and makeup for my purse. I discovered so many cute ones in Daiso. I have this deep compulsion to keep things organized in its own little zippered bag.
I even keep my monthly receipts in a clear zippered bag, labeled, and filed into the cabinet in these. That way I can grab an entire month at once. The kind I love has a smaller zipper on the front. I use this to hold the printout from my Excel spread sheet for that month's bills. I love them all!!!

Yes on blankets and many thanks to the Peas for the wonderful Kohls The Big One blankets... My kids now expect them every year. REALLY??? I do try to weed them out and give them to the animal shelters for the dogs/cats.. Now since we have a puppy who is the size of a horse, is putting holes in all my blankets.. it looks like I am going to have to restock again for the next few years. OYE.. or just have holey blankets.

That's a whole other addiction Does it need it's own thread? Mine all have assigned uses. I bought a bunch of thirty-one stuff at a sister's party years ago, and still use the 2 Zippered Pouches. I bought them to use as part of my cash register setup for PTA events like the Scholastic book fair. Now I use them for organizing tech cables and portable hard drives. I like the size and the stand-up bottom. And I have so many cute Vera Bradley pouches each in unique patterns for beauty, travel, tech cords, etc. Barnes & Noble carried Jonathan Adler items for awhile and I bought his pretty patent pouches for my e-reader. I feel like an idiot - I had no idea you could buy the IKEA bags - I've only been to the Burlington store over the border in Canada a handful of times over a decade, and thought they were in-store use only. I like how they hook on the carts. Maybe I'll forget that....but that rainbow one is adorable and would match my umbrella....

You can buy the blue bags (and apparently the rainbow ones) but NOT the yellow ones, they are for in-store only (before COVID) maybe that has changed??

I have a ton of bags, many from professional conferences, where you always get a tote bag. Then there are the souvenir ones I bought many years ago, the store ones, the reusable ones for shopping, the insulated ones, the nice ones from stores. I have a hard time throwing away a good bag that can be reused. And yes, to the throws/blankets. I was at Costco this afternoon and they had really soft plushy ones that are different from others. Do I need another throw? Did I stand there thinking where I’d use it? Did I buy it anyway even though I don’t have a specific place for it?

My thing is mainly throw blankets. Oh, and decorate pillows too. My ex fiancé used to make fun of me making the bed with all of the pillows and that they had to be in the right order. He would name them to kid with me.

I love zippered bags too, use them all over the house. I may or may not have purchased (and used) five sets of these bags.Checked out your link. Would love to hear what sorts of things you use them for dewryce Everything - Extra office supplies I keep stocked, throw items in here and in a drawer and it takes up less space and is super easy to find what I need.
- My make-up and tools that I don’t use everyday. I’ve got lipsticks in one, nighttime makeup in another, makeup brushes for eyes separated from my other makeup brushes that I don’t often use.
- Craft supplies, I’ll let your imagination run wild there, I especially like them to keep yarn and the printed pattern together.
- Small tools, hardware etc I like to keep together in the garage and upstairs toolbox.
- Camping supplies like silverware in one, kitchen utensils and gadgets in another, organizing supplies in another, different sized sheet sets kept separately because we never know what size bed the cabin is going to have.
- They’re also great for temporarily grouping things for car trips, packing.
- Even mini projects. I want to be able to work on something when I’m in the mood but quickly and easily throw it in the bag and then in a drawer so I don’t have to look at it when I’m not.
- A lot for DH’s extra triathlon accessories. I have a box of small extras like goggles, swim caps, sunblock and chapsticks, socks, body glide, etc. so that when he runs out he knows exactly where to look. We also use it to separate what he needs at each transition and before and after the race in his transition bag. That way when he’s packing it’s easier to double check that he has everything he needs for each leg of the race and to set up his transition area.
This is off the top of my head, for different types of items. I know they are in use around it the house in one-off situations and I’m sure I missed a major category or two.
They’re cheap, durable, you can see through them pretty well (I find the really clear ones get brittle and crack at the corners over time) and they come in a ton of sizes so they don’t waste space and everything is snug in there. It bothers me when I have a small collection of whatever in a bag too big so it spreads out, if that makes sense. Or the bags are so empty they can fold over on themselves like ziplocks. And in case you can’t tell I like to grab and go. I’m super anal retentive and organized, but I want it to be easy to maintain. When I say throw it in a drawer or box or bag or suitcase or whatever, I meant exactly that. Oh, and I love that they all store compactly within the largest bag so I keep the extras all together. And I might like that they’re all the same. Not a billion different colors and fabrics. Did I mention anal retentive? I loved having a pretty collection of different decorative bags, like makeup bags. But a) they’re mostly not see through b) when I was using them together they didn’t stack/whatever neatly and c) not enough size options.

Just because I'm in the mood to be a shit stirrer, let me enable you: linkA few years ago, I bought a bunch of these oilcloth bags from a seller at a local arts market to give as presents to some friends for our girls' weekend. I kept 3 for myself. They are SO darn useful and the oilcloth is washable so I can take leaky food to parties and stuff. And they're reversible!

Now to find one that looks great with our melamine plates and bowls. I thank you for the link. My husband does not.

I finally feel understood. Ha ha ha! OMG, I had sooooo many canvas bags from the retail trade shows I attended for over a decade. I couldn’t just get rid of them because many of them were so cute. When I was hosting regular crops, I parted with a bunch of them by using them to hold door prize items I was giving away but I still have a lot. (And yes, I kept the cutest ones for myself.) One of my favorite bags for a long time was the one I picked up at a CK convention that was huge and zippered closed! But the problem was it was so big that when it was full it was almost too heavy to carry and it didn’t have wheels. I also really like the reusable bags from the Disney Store. I reuse all of the plastic bags from Target, the hardware store, Michael’s, etc. by putting them in all the small wastebaskets in the house. They’re the perfect size for that. And I reuse the paper bags from Target and the grocery store for corralling paper items for recycling so it doesn’t end up blowing all over the neighborhood on trash day.

No, and I can’t find it when I go look. Which one of y’all bought it out from under me? That one is cute! I have to admit, I love the idea of ric rac at the bottom of my camping table cloth I detest ric rac. It the idea makes me smile! Alas, none of them would coordinate well and if I’m spending $65 on a tablecloth to use just a time or two a year, it’s going to have to be perfect!

I have found my long-lost sisters here in this post. I just looked up the rainbow Ikea bags and want/need them.
My weakness is the Trader Joe's mystery bag that contains 3 of their shopping bags. I have them stashed in all our cars and still want more.
And my gift bag collection is too big too!
