She's Crafty on YT is several weeks into a class using smaller paper pads and she has a FB group for it as well. I haven't been drawn to any of the sketches but I thought some of you might like a free class to check out. She also has an upcoming class for $25 that involves using your stash. I could stand to dig into my stash rather than buying but I probably won't join the class. Anyone else interested or following along with the free class?

I like the idea of using those 6x6 papers on a layout, but I’d rather spend that $25 differently.
Hijack: If you want to spend money that will really give you more bang for your buck AND help you use your stash creatively for your paper crafting, look at the Queen & Co. Foundation dies.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with them other than avid customer. While their Foundation dies are geared to card making, they can also be very effectively used on scrapbook pages, too. At first I just thought they were a lot like other basic dies I’d bought, but it wasn’t long before I realized their potential. They are designed to work together in a way that the numerous other dies I’ve bought can’t do as well. I’ve bought every single Foundation set they’ve made so far except for their slimline dies, and I am saving for their next Foundation dies being released in May.

I think $25 is a bit spendy for a class but the only class I've paid for is the recent $12 SG 6x6 paper pad class. I feel like it was worth the money I spent. There is so much free inspiration out there that I or anyone else could put together a class for just about any topic, theme, or specific supply like 6x6 paper pads. I'm just not into paying for classes. But I understand the appeal for others. I just checked out the foundation dies #1 and they're great. I have a Silhouette Cameo so no need for dies, but coincidentally, I cut several similar shapes yesterday just for fun using kraft paper. So now I have some mini tags, tabs, scalloped circles and rectangles to use as title or cluster bases. They're some great basics.

I really love the stitching on the Queen & Co. dies, and I can’t get the same depth with stitched details from my electronic cutter. If you know how to get the same look of depth to the stitching in the machine cuts, please let me know. I’m pretty skilled with my Cameo, but even with multiple cuts, I just don’t get as nice a look as far as the stitching.

It’s funny that you mention that because that’s one of the reasons why I sometimes consider looking into getting dies. I have no idea how those contraptions work but I guess that’s a question for another thread.

[Disclaimer: I don't participate in social media, just started watching an occasional scrapbooking YT video when bored during the pandemic, & have never taken a scrapbooking/stamping/craft-related class online or in person.] I watched a few episodes in the Mini Paper Pad Class playlist. They all follow the same format: The scrapper shares her chosen sketch, kit contents (each including a 6x6 or 6x8 paper pad), interpretation of the sketch, & a tentative direction for her page (usually mentioning nonchalantly that she'll use the mini papers as layers). The next frame in the video is an almost-completed layout (which may or may not reflect her previous intentions), to which she then adds a few embellishments & finishing touches on camera. Based on its name, I expected each class to focus on & show the process of using mini papers in a different/less obvious way. While I appreciate both her ability to mix multiple patterns & the free content she provides, I'm disappointed because IMHO there's no actual process or instructions for using mini papers in this series promoted as a "class!" You’re exactly right. I do keep in mind that it’s free but really she’s just scrapping a layout based on a sketch and then it’s your turn. We could do that here and call it a class, which isn’t a bad idea. I wouldn’t pay for that and I don’t know if that’s what she’s doing for her upcoming paid class or not.

I'd rather use the $25 to buy more stash Seriously though, how do you have a "class" on bashing your stash? Everyone has different stuff and different scrapping styles. I don't get it. Challenge? yes Class? no I'll check out the small paper pad ideas though. Thanks!

I've been sort of following along, and have done half of the sketches so far. I've struggled because of the similarities between some of the sketches but I've enjoyed seeing so many takes on the same sketch and watching various youtubers take them on.

I don't remember all the details from her video about the upcoming class but my guess is that she'll give some kind of "recipe" to build a kit. My first thought when I see the price of a class is that I'd rather use it to buy more supplies, too.

Considering both the lack of instruction/tips/tricks for using mini papers & recycling the same sketch from this class in another weekly series on the YTer's channel, it seems "Mini Paper Pad Class" is a misnomer. Perhaps naming it a sketch series would better reflect its focus & content. ETA: Note a weekly sketch is posted on the Challenges sub-board here (see the latest - 2/27 - Sketchy Saturday post here)!

Thanks for the link. I always mean to check out the challenges here. I’m always impressed with scrappers that use them seemingly so easily in their scrapping.

Yeah its definitely not a class, she just makes layouts using the kits she made that incorporate mini papers and a sketch she chooses. It's the same as all her other process videos except for the use of mini papers. But I like seeing everyone's different interpretations of the same sketch as well as inspo for mini papers. I wouldn't pay $25 for her next class considering I have no idea what it would entail and that seems a little pricey.

I'm back from watching a bunch of her videos, and I found myself fast forwarding to the end for most of them. She's very good, and I really like her pages, but I guess I wasn't so interested in following along as she put them together. So, I added her to my Instagram feed. Thanks for recommending her!
