I did not always get a flu shot on the regular. It's not that I am anti-vaccine or anti-flu-vaccine, but I wasn't in a particularly high risk group, and didn't work in particularly high-risk environment, and there were several years of a flu vaccine shortage, so I just didn't think I needed to go get one.
I changed my tune a few years ago when an otherwise healthy, middle-aged family friend died from flu complications.
So, I got a flu shot this year as I have for the last several, I am planning to get a COVID vaccine as soon as I am eligible, and I am fairly confident that even if I were not getting a flu shot on the regular, I'd still be getting the COVID vaccine. In all the years I've been alive, I've never seen the planet go on lockdown for the flu, so... yeah.

I got my flu jabs for years and each time I would get bronchitis twice a year. Sometimes it would be so bad it would almost go into pneumonia. I’d be on antibiotics, steroids and sick for 2 plus weeks each time. About 6 years ago my doctor suggested I not get it that year since I may have a reaction to it and I haven’t gotten one since. Nor have I had bronchitis or been sick. My doctor told me one of the side effects from flu shots is bronchitis and pneumonia. My sister gets her annually and has the same issues with bronchitis and pneumonia. She’s had to be hospitalized for pneumonia before.

I didn’t regularly get the flu vaccine - mostly the years I was pregnant. There were years it is in short supply, so as an adult without existing conditions that made flu more dangerous I skipped it and fell out of the habit. Also, my annual physical falls outside flu season so it requires a special appt.
I will get the COVID vaccine when it is available to healthy adults in my age group.

Well according to our former twice impeached president, Covid is just a case of the flu. (sarcasm) Yes! And even though he thinks it's just the flu, he didn't waste any time in flying to the hospital when he got covid. And he opted for the best treatment that others can't get. And he got the vaccine as soon as it was available. Such a hypocrite! I would have had a lot more respect for him if he just stayed home and treated it like he would the flu.

I've only had the flu shot once before but this year I got it because the NHS was so stretched dealing with Covid and I didn't want to add to that burden should I have come down with a bad case of flu. Had my first AZ jab yesterday. Yay! How are you feeling? I was able to book my first AZ shot for next Monday! Feeling very fortunate and grateful. OP—I’ve been consistent with flu shots only for the last few years but now I won’t ever miss it if possible. This pandemic has educated us!

I don't get flu shots and I haven't fully made my mind up though I've been eligible from the start (funeral home work). For now I'll just let everyone who is eager and trying to get it have the appointments.

Same. Already had shot one of Pfizer. Same and same. My flu shot record was spotty until one year (2016 maybe?) I didn't get one and then I got the flu and I was absolutely miserable. Never again said I and I have been faithful to the flu shot ever since, even last year in the middle of the pandemic. I also got my first Pfizer jab last week Same, same, and same I didn't get the flu shot until I got the flu in 1996. Haven't missed one since. It was my first year of teaching and I was out for 2 weeks! 2 weeks!. I also am I phizer shot into the covid vaccine.

Until recently I almost never got the flu vaccine because I had only ever had the flu once or twice. I don’t know if it’s my age, my health, or the fact that DH works in a nursing home setting but that has been changing. And my endocrinologist’s office recommends them so I’ve been getting them more frequently.
Already had the COVID19 vaccine (Pfizer)

I have gotten the flu shot for years. I used to work in healthcare and it was highly recommended. If you didn't, you were required to wear a mask all flu season.
Last January, my oldest grandson got the flu. He had the flu shot so it was mild. Youngest grandson, who was just over 1, got the flu from his cousin. He also had the flu shot. He was such a sick baby, hurt to see him feel so terrible and be so tiny. His momma and I both got the flu from him, even with us both having the shot. We were all miserable!! I imagine it would have been worse for DD and I without the shot.
DH would never get the shot until recently. He now gets it at work. I am getting my first Pfizer this Friday and DH is going to get his ASAP. I am proud that he wants to finally get his vaccinations.

My dad has never gotten any vaccine his entire life. He is 86. He came here from Iran in his 30's so he never received any childhood vaccinations. Despite being a physician, he has never received a flu shot (he's stubborn and has diabetes and the shots mess with his blood sugar). He got his covid vaccine. We didn't give him a choice.

I have never had a flu shot, I am not anti-vax, I just don't get the flu shot because my area often runs out of the shot and I don't feel comfortable taking it when there are others (elderly/immune compromised) who need it more. I don't remember ever having the flu - I can't even remember the last time I was sick with anything other than a sinus infection.
I will get the covid vaccine as soon as I am eligible.

I've never had a flu shot or the flu. I intended to get one this fall but then forgot about it. I wasn't going anywhere much and wearing a mask whenever I did so again put it off. I do keep Tetanus shots up to date as DH and I tend to get into projects around the house where having one is a good idea.
I have had my first Moderna vaccine dose.

I keep seeing this here, is it common everywhere or just regional? Because I have never heard about it being an issue. Perhaps because I’m new to getting my flu vaccine and so just never paid attention. But in the few years I’ve been getting them my endocrinologist’s office always has them and strongly suggests we get one. And once or twice I was able to just drop in at Walgreen’s.

I assume that it's regional - because I've been called a liar online before when I mentioned that our local news reported that they had run out of the flu shot. My state has one of the most grabastic health care systems in the US. Flu shot availability HAS been getting better in the last few years (I know we didn't run out this past year - but I suspect that's because a lot of people skipped it since they were distancing/masking). ETA: In 2019/2020, there were 162 to 169 million doses of flu vaccine available to the public - obviously that does not allow for every person in the US to be vaccinated, so there were shortages. From this article.

We get flu shots in this house regularly. Ever since we were about to bring home our preemie. The doctor at her hospital talked to DH and I about the importance of herd immunity and asked that we get a flu shot to protect her since she was so vunerable. That was 14 years ago and we all still regularly get our flu shots.
Waiting my turn for Covid vaccine as I'm not eligible yet age wise.

I've been vaccinated for both. I have Type 1 diabetes (a kidney infection landed me in the ICU for 4 days), so I am pretty religious about vaccines. I got the flu shot a couple of years ago, and still got the flu, but I recovered in about 2 days, whereas other family members who got it, stayed sick for much longer.

I judge year to year on what the CDC thinks the coverage for the flu will be with that year's vaccine. 2020/2021 isn't supposed to be a very good match. I was home all the time anyway, and hubby does 100% mask wearing when out, so I decided to skip it. I have already had my first Covid 19 shot though; that's a different beast altogether.

I don't regularly get flu shots any more, but I definitely WILL be getting the covid vaccine when it's offered to me.
(as I get older, I'll probably be more vigilant about getting a flu shot regularly.)

I've declined the flu shot for years as the two times I did get it I was sick as a dog for days. My kids and DH all get it and have no side effects. I'm eligible for the Covid shot when they open up the next round and have started poking around a bit more to get on the lists for "leftover" doses. It didn't feel right at the beginning to look very hard for one as we're low risk and I'm happy to stand behind those who need it more than I do. As my qualifying time is getting closer I'm more comfortable beginning to look around.
This has also prompted me to look at getting a flu shot. I'm not as young as I used to be, and certainly they do work.

I don't get the flu shot because I get sick every time I do. My doctor recommended I stop. I am signed up to get the Covid vaccine, and am in an earlier group than my husband because I have asthma. I had a pneumonia vaccine around Christmas. My kids had flu shots every year until after they 18 and I couldn't make them go. It's been spotty since then I think. My 25 year old son works in a pharmacy, and he's had his 1st covid shot. He was supposed to have the 2nd shot today, but I don't think he got it because of all the snow we got this weekend. He'll get it in the next couple days.

I used to get the flu shot "hit or miss" for awhile. In 2009 I had "something??" and it kicked my butt for three days. I called out sick from work two days in a row which I never did --ever. I don't know if it was the flu but I've gotten the flu shot every year since. I got the flu shot early this year -around September? because I wanted to make sure they could tell the difference between flu and covid.
And --I got my first COVID shot today!!! YAY!!

I’ve been pretty good about getting a flu shot for the last ten years or so, especially since it’s readily available here just about everywhere so it’s convenient to get one when I’m out and about, and most places it’s 100% covered by insurance.
I’ll get the Covid shot too. I was somewhat leery last year because of how rushed it all was, but I have more confidence now as more people have gotten them.

I got both... but my employer provides it and I really don't have to go out of my way or anything. Before I worked here Flu shot was spotty.. but since I have worked her, it's every year. Although this year I got it through my insurance instead of work (there was a shortage and didn't get very much).

I don't get the flu shot for medical reasons. I did get my tetanus booster a couple of weeks ago and have an appointment for my first Covid at the end of the month.

I’ve gotten the flu shot at times in the past, but not for at least the last 10 years or so. I’m not planning on getting one again, but that may change as I get older. I never get sick, and had a reaction from the shot the last time I got it, so...
I am also not in a hurry to get the covid vaccine. I’m not saying never, but I want to see more data on it before I get one. My state has opened it up to everyone, so I can, but I know there are others that need it more than I do anyway. My oldest DS has gotten his 1st dose, but his girlfriend is immuno compromised, so it was important to him. I’ll ask my 17 year old if he wants it, and we’ll decide from there. Maybe after he’s out of school for the summer if he does. DH doesn’t want it.
