I ordered this morning and it was to be delivered at 11am. 2 people drop it off and as soon as they are back in the car, I go to my steps and discover it's NONE of my stuff. I flag them down and make them take it back. It's only a few bags of stuff and some fancy water I don't drink. They assure me that they'll get my stuff and bring it back. He took my phone #. He calls an hour later and says that I have to report it to Instacart. They delivered my stuff to an apartment bldg. and the customer won't answer the door or isn't home. They can't get in the bldg. to get my stuff. I feel so bad for him because I know it affects his pay. They are sending out a new order by 5pm today. I had a ton of frozen stuff! I hope someone uses it.

This has happened at least 4 or 5 times with me, sometimes I get a whole different order, sometimes half an order, etc...it's just too stressful.

I had an instacart (or similar) delivery show up the other day. I hadn't ordered it. I went to meet the shopper at the door and, long story short: right apartment number, wrong building in the complex. She showed me where she was supposed to be and I pointed her to the right building (next one over). I get it, the pin wasn't in the best spot on her map and, frankly, this complex is laid out a little strange. Anyway, she was grateful, and I was glad it was an easy fix. It was a CVS delivery, so I assume it was medication.
I will say our buildings are locked, and not all of the delivery folks have keys, so sometimes packages are left outside. That door opens to the mailroom/lobby, so usually when someone sees packages outside, they haul them in for everyone. But that would mean a misdelivered package couldn't easily be retrieved. And, frankly, I usually don't answer the buzzer if I'm not expecting anyone. So hopefully, that's just your situation and not that someone knowingly decided to keep your instacart order!

Last week, I received someone's restaurant order. However, I didn't find out until the next morning since I hadn't ordered anything and no one knocked on my door. I called the restaurant just to confirm their customer did not receive the order. They had sent out a second order, but they appreciated knowing what happened. They asked my apartment number, and their customer's apartment isn't even on my floor and the apartment number wasn't even close to mine.

Funny thing is, I don't even live in an apartment. So this poor person that got my order got like 6 bags of groceries. She only had 3 bags and some fancy water. I just feel bad for the shopper-I am sure he gets dinged for this, and he really did try! I told Instacart customer service that too.

I'm confused how the orders can get mixed up if the shopper is sent a copy of your order with all your info.

I bet they are both instacart shoppers and grabbed 2 orders, went to the apt. first, didn't grab the right list and gave the person my stuff. That's my guess. I'll never know. So I got my 2nd delivery around 3pm and they forgot my bacon! I am fed up!

At least you can check to be sure it's the right order before you drive away. -- But even better in my area are the private people who started doing shopping during the pandemic. We have two people in particular who are all over my county's COVID Facebook page, with glowing recommendations from everyone who has used them. Both started doing personal shopping/errands after they lost their income from the pandemic (one was a children's party/face paint person, and I'm not sure about the other one)... I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about either one.

I had that happen for grocery pick up. They loaded it in the back of my vehicle, gave me my grocery list and I took off. When I got home I noticed it was not mine. I went right back to the store. They were super helpful and my order was ready, they just grabbed the wrong cart. It was when COVID first hit and they were swamped with online orders. I assured them I was not mad, just wanted my groceries. I am far from perfect myself and they handled it very well so no bad feelings on my part.

This couple was probably doing more than 1 order at a time. As an Instacart shopper, this is what I think happened. One was probably the actual verified (gone through the background check) shopper and the other was just tagging along- which by the way is against Instacart's policy. It is possible that they were both verified shoppers, but doubtful. You were probably part of a double order given to one shopper and they got the 2 mixed up. My brain can't figure out why they didn't double check before they dropped off-especially if they thought 6 bags went to an apartment. I would be distracted having another person tag along with me, even though I see it all the time. I'm sorry this happened to you! There are good shoppers out there.
