From a very long opinion piece.. but does support and show the need for a full Commission on Jan 6th. And yes, the republicans should support it, because they are now claiming that the FBI was 'involved'

Take Gosar’s protest that we don’t know the name of the policeman who shot Babbitt. Surely he knows that the U.S. Capitol Police work for Congress and that it’s in their power to change the rules that would release the name of Babbitt’s shooter. Rather than hector the FBI director about the shooter’s identity, he should persuade his colleagues to make the Capitol Police more transparent. Furthermore, if Team Gosar is really serious about wanting to know more about law enforcement’s Jan. 6 conduct, instead of asking questions to which he obviously knows the true answers, he should stump for a congressional investigative commission that would probe all the riot’s secrets, not just the ones that favor his interpretation.

The Oath Keeper in question is 53-year-old Jon Ryan Schaffer, a heavy metal guitarist who was caught on camera assaulting Capitol police with bear spray.

Oath Keeper pleads guilty to conspiracy and agrees to cooperate in government prosecution of far-right militia group

As part of a plea agreement made today in federal court, Graydon Young agrees to provide cooperation with the federal prosecution of the Oath Keepers, including 15 remaining defendants who are charged with conspiracy to obstruct Congress' certification of the 2020 presidential election.

Young, a 55-year-old Florida resident who operates a daycare with his wife, also agreed to testify before a grand jury and at trial in the Oath Keepers prosecutions.

Young pleaded guilty to two counts — conspiracy and obstruction of an official proceeding. As part of the plea deal, the government agreed to dismiss the additional charges of destruction of government property, entering and remaining in a restricted building, and tampering with documents.

If Young had gone to trial and been convicted, he could have faced up to 20 years in trial. Under the sentencing guidelines outlined today by Judge Amit Mehta, Young will likely serve between 63 and 78 months in prison, with three years probation and pay a fine of $250,000. He is also required to pay restitution. Judge Mehta said the total damages to the Capitol amounted to $1.5 million, and Young's share of the damages will likely come to $2,000.

(CNN)A conservative YouTuber who participated in the January 6 riot accompanied Republican members of Congress on a trip to the border Tuesday night, serving as a translator at times.

Anthony Aguero, a close ally of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene can be seen in videos and photos with Republican members of Congress who traveled to a route along the border frequented by migrants on Tuesday night. CNN's KFile previously reported that Aguero went into the Capitol during the January 6 riot and cheered and justified the break-in.
During his livestream of the Tuesday visit, Aguero interviewed and chatted with Reps. Tom. Tiffany of Wisconsin, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina, Chris Jacobs of New York, Michael Cloud of Texas, John Rose of Tennessee, Ronny Jackson of Texas, and Mary Miller of Illinois.

Hi guys, Congressman Hawthorn is behind me," Aguero tells viewers during his livestream, mispronouncing Cawthorn's last name. "That is freaking awesome. That is freaking awesome. I'll tell you that."

In a statement, Aguero told CNN, "I appreciate the Congressmen and Congresswomen that went out of their way to come to the Border to see the crisis for themselves." He did not answer questions regarding how he was at the border with members of Congress.

Aguero has not been charged for unlawful entry at the US Capitol on January 6. After chanting "heave-ho" as rioters attempted to break in, he entered the Capitol Rotunda and later chanted "our house" on the Capitol steps. In a livestream one day after the Capitol riot, he attacked those who condemned the ransacking of the Capitol. The FBI previously declined to comment on whether it was investigating Aguero in an email to CNN.

Capitol rioters formed fake 'Bible study' group as cover for manufacturing explosives: report

On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that Fi Duong, an accused Capitol rioter from Northern Virginia, formed a radical militia group under the guise of a "Bible study" group, where he and his associates stockpiled improvised explosives.

Duong has become widely known as the Capitol rioter who can be heard in the footage shouting, "We're coming for you, Nancy!" — a key clip shown in CNN's special report on the attack.

"Duong allegedly told the undercover officer he was part of a 'cloak and dagger' group that will 'build resistances ... for what will inevitably come.' In March, he told associates, 'Keep your guns and be ready to use them,'" reported Rachel Weiner and Spencer Hsu. "He and others held 'Bible study' where they discussed firearms and other training, according to court document.

During these fake "Bible study" groups, the group also apparently gathered material for explosives.

"He said at a meeting in June that he had collected Styrofoam and more than 50 wine bottles to make molotov cocktails but had held off on buying fuel 'to avoid ... being hit with a conspiracy charge, according to the complaint filed against him," the Post reporters write. "He told the undercover agent he had been saving motor oil from his car for that purpose but he also said he would prefer a peaceful secession of Appalachia to a violent conflict."

A previous report indicated that Duong's group surveilled the Capitol for "weeks" and that the undercover agent was able to intercept their encrypted communications.

The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has rejected an effort by a Trump supporter charged in the January 6th Capitol riots to be released from jail pending trial.

The indictment of Ronnie Sandlin cited a tweet with video that appears to show the suspect inside the gallery of the United States Senate.

"We took it, we did it," a man in a Trump had and blaze orange hoodie says in the video.


In the videos, Sandlin can be heard saying 'we made history guys. People are smoking weed in here. Please, may I please hit that...I am smoking weed. Thank you patriot. We made history in here.' In the video, Sandlin is observed smoking a type of rolled cigarette consistent with a 'joint,' which is typically used to smoke marijuana," prosecutors explained in charging documents.

As BuzzFeed News justice correspondent Zoe Tillman reported, Sandlin failed in his efforts to avoid pretrial detention.

Refused plea deal for 5 years. Trial scheduled Jan 3, 2022

March BuzzFeed report walked through Ponder's actions on Jan. 6, saying that after he allegedly attacked officers, he "was tackled to the ground outside the Capitol at around 2:49 p.m. by a group of Metropolitan Police Department officers." About 25 minutes later, "he was allowed to walk away because a police transport couldn't get through to the Capitol grounds and the officers who'd arrested him were ordered back to the riot to help with crowd control, according to court filings."

During his March court date, Ponder pleaded not guilty and after months of questions from prosecutors, Ponder still refuses to plead guilty. He was offered a deal that would have given him lower charges and put him in prison for 5-6 years.

Monday, Ponder officially rejected the felony plea deal that would have dropped 11 of the counts against him. He made it clear he'd prefer to go to trial on all 12 counts, where he could get a much longer time in prison.

Five members of a north Texas family were charged in connection with the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Kristi Munn, of Borger, and other family members traveled to Washington, D.C., for the "Stop The Steal" rally promoted by former president Donald Trump, according to a relative of the woman's fiancé who notified the FBI three days after the riot.

"Washington D.C. here we come," Kristi Munn posted on Facebook, tagging family members who traveled with her. "#StopTheSteal #TrumpIsMyPresident."

Agents examined screenshots from Munn's Facebook and Snapchat accounts the relative had made showing six family members, including a minor child who has not been charged, at the U.S. Capitol, and investigators then examined social media accounts belonging to other family members.

"POTUS HAS REQUESTED YOUR ATTENDANCE WASHINGTON DC JANUARY 6TH 2021," posted relative Tom Munn on his own Facebook account. "Our President has only asked two things from us, so far... #1 Vote #2 January 6, 2021."

Tom Munn also posted a photo of the pickup truck and trailer camper, which was festooned with a QAnon sign, that they used to travel to Washington, along with updates from shortly after the riot.

"Made it back to the hotel about an hour ago," Tom Munn posted. "Have lots of pics and video to follow . . . the DC police opened up on a small group climbing the scaffolding, with gas grenades . . . The only damage to the capital building was several windows and sets of doors. Nothing inside the capital was damaged. I can tell you, patriots NEVER made it to the chamber. There was no violence in the capital building, the crowd was NOT out of control . . . they were ANGRY!!!"

Kristi Munn also posted updates from the event on her own Facebook page, where she similarly denied the violent actions seen in multiple videos from the siege.

"These women stormed OUR capital and demanded OUR House and Country back!!!!" Kristi Munn posted. "They did not brake [sic] burn threaten swear push touch or hurt another American there today but they damn sure made their voice hear [sic]!!!"

Investigators identified all of the family members shown on surveillance and other video climbing through broken windows into the Capitol during the riot, and they also appeared in various livestream videos recorded that day inside the building.

Subsequent social media activity confirmed their presence inside the building, including one Facebook conversation between Kayli Munn and another relative who asked how the march had been.

"F*cking great!" Kayli Munn said. "Holy sh*t we were inside the f*cking capital!"

Cell phone location data obtained in a search warrant further confirmed their presence inside the Capitol as Trump supporters attempted to stop the certification of Joe Biden's election win.

Kristi Munn, Tom Munn, Dawn Munn, Josh Munn and Kayli Munn were each charged with illegally entering a restricted government building with the intention of stopping official business and using threatening language in the Capitol to disrupt a session of Congress.
