I was using some Mod Podge, and a lot of it got on my hands. I let it dry, and peeled it off. What fun!

I used to love doing that with white Elmer's glue. This was a classroom-wide pastime when I was a first grader

It's far superior to the other method of doing this: getting a terrible sunburn!

I used to love doing that with white Elmer's glue. I used to make shapes in my desk and let them dry (we had the desks that had openings you could slide stuff in.

This was my DD's favorite classroom pastime when she was in 2nd grade - remember the blue sparkly glue gel? Guess who's favorite color was blue? Funny thing was I had no idea she was doing this and finally questioned her about it when she "ran out" of glue again for like the 3rd time around November...turns out I was supplying about half of her class with glue for doing that exact thing. Their desks were the kind you described above and also had a small pencil well which was a perfect mold for the gel glue.

Does anyone remember rubber cement or the white paste glue that had a brush on the inside of the cap - talking about circa 1966.
Rubber cement was the bomb!

Rubber cement was the bomb! Oh yeah, I remember both of those. A kid in my kindergarten class was always getting in trouble for eating the paste. Remember it had a sort of "minty" smell? I don't really know how to describe the smell, but I remember it was definitely un-glue-like and must have really been appealing to some kids... Rubber cement dried to fun little blobs you could knead in your fingers too.

Rubber cement was the bomb! Yep!!! Remember those brown bottles of glue with the rubber tip? I never had that but thought it was weird. Don't know why.

Rubber cement was the bomb! I remember rubber cement! Wow, that is something I had forgotten about. Do they still make it? I remember always having a very dried out jar of rubber cement. I don't think I ever had a fresh jar.

don't sniff it or eat it! I remember this boy in 3rd grade kept saying that eating Elmer's glue was good for your heart. I think he spent a lot of time in detention.

ahh, white "minty" paste - I remember kids eating that stuff in elementary school. I remember sitting at the kitchen table using the white paste to paste together envelopes for valentines to take to school
Rubber cement - I loved it!
I hated the LePages that Edie posted. It would get all hard on the tip, and nothing would come out. Then when you peeled it off, it looked like boogers. Hated it!!!!
We used to make paste out of ... I think it was flour and water.
