Bridget in MD The walls are MDF covered in stone effect compound.
The chair is bare wood stained and Linseed oil coated.
The little stool was a kit made from wood and then painted and Linseed coated.
The roses are Fimo clay and the birdbox is cardboard.
The porch roof tiles are made from cardboard.
Wish I knew how to get bigger pics.

Yarn girls, I have a question. I follow someone on IG who posts pics of her cats laying all over her beautiful crocheted blanket. I mean it is gorgeous, and apparently she gave it to her cats 🥰 After wondering for months, I found out that the pattern is called Persian Tiles, so I started following that hashtag…and over the last few weeks have just fallen deeply in love. I don’t believe my skills are such (after a year of pretty basic crocheting) that I can undertake it….yet, but hopefully in the not-too-distant future. Anyhow, I’m wondering if anyone here has made it? If so, do you care to share any pics and/or discuss how difficult it was to make. Did you pick your own colors, and if so are you happy with the results? Or any tips or tricks? Here is a link to a bunch of different images in Google of the blanket if you’ve not seen it before. Isn’t it gorgeous?!? www.google.com/search?q=persian+tiles+eastern+jewels+pattern&client=safari&hl=en-us&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwixsODvk47xAhVE6p4KHZBOCY0Q_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1261&bih=823&dpr=2

That is stunning. And if you go to this link, you will see there are over 1,600 projects of this blanket, 96 forum posts, and lots of comments. You may be able to get just the information you need there. I also love that a lot of the 1,600+ people leave project notes that can help. I love looking for info I need this way on a project. Sometimes it can be very helpful. www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/persian-tile-blanket/people

I made the Easter jewels version, very very colourful. If you order the kit, you get the pattern for the original and a second booklet with the colour swops for the Eastern version. The original booklet has lots of photos, mainly of the octagon, showing what you are trying to achieve with each row. You make 16 octagons, 9 squares, 12 large triangles and 4 small triangles. If I remember correctly, the thing that made me stop and think was, how to a make a 29cm octagon out of cardstock to help me block! The designer is Jane Crowfoot, and wool warehouse have the kit for £29.99 www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/packs/stylecraft-eastern-jewels-special-dk-244988The pattern is written in UK terminology but has a table with the US equivalents, the US stitches noted are chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet and treble crochet. There is one point where you create an x with two trebles but it is well expained. I say go for it, it's very doable. Oh, stitch markers would be handy.

I am taking a break from minis and sewing to make butterflies for placing on a casket. My Misters Mum died last week and the funeral will have a non wooden casket and only paper flowers and butterflies on top before the cremation. I dragged out my parchment craft stuff and so far have made half a dozen 3D Pergamano butterflies, many more to make yet. Sad to think it will be the last things I make for her. I'm sorry phoenixcov your flowers and butterflies sound a lovely idea

I don't have a memory of it being a big problem just maybe plan to do it in front of the tv regularly. It's definitely something to keep in mind if you are using a lot of colour which I seem to do so maybe I'm immune to the yarn ends at this stage! It's been a few years but I seem to remember doing the pieces like a production line so I had the stitch sequence down pat for each row and didn't have to keep referring to the pattern.

A little over half way through one side of a cushion cover. Love the colour but not certain of the yarn. It’s the leftovers from the bat shawl and there’s quite a difference in the feel of each item.

That is awesome gillyp Is that Sixel Designs? It is. You need to download the 3 patterns from the bundle as there are special stitches on the skulls and roses pattern that are described on the other two patterns. I think that's why I'm taking so long with it. The stitches in themselves are easy enough, they are just for increasing and decreasing, but I can not get them fixed in my head and have to refer to the patterns each time. I went down a hook size as it's more suitable for the yarn and I think I probably should have gone down another half but as it's for me I'm not bothered with it looking a little loose.

Gill, are you saying she's got the instructions for this pillow spread out over three patterns? Or are you just combining them? It's a bundle pack spread over the 3 patterns. The designer explains it clearer than I can "This pattern pack includes the Big Skulls pattern and Roses & Thorns pattern, both used together to create the Skulls & Roses pillow." I am doing the skulls and roses so have printed off the charts for that particular design. Those charts are specific to just the skulls and roses pattern. You do need to have the other two patterns available, as how to work the special stitches is only described on the other two of them. "These designs have several special stitches, and the patterns will show you step by step with photos how to create those stitches." - from her Ravelry page here www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/skulls-and-roses-pack You buy the 3 patterns as a bundle. ETA - drat, Ravelry won't let me link as the patterns are in my library. If you go to Ravelry and search Skulls and Roses you will find it. I use my printed charts for working the skulls and roses cushion/pillow and I use my phone to check the special stitches that are described on the other two patterns. Off the top of my head, it's only about 5 stitches and if I'd realised how much I need to concentrate on what I'm doing, I'd have found it easier to have printed off each special stitch individually but I'm in the rhythm of toggling on my phone now. The stitches are just the way to increase and decrease the motifs and involve things like skipping stitches, two stitches in one and similar. You might look at them and have them click immediately. If you wanted to make just the Big Skulls or just the Roses and Thorns, you wouldn't need to be referring to the other parts of the pattern bundle, it's because she's bringing together those two designs to make the third. Clear as mud? You would have no difficulty making any of the designs.

seaexplore oh my word! Those are awesome. I should make one for my daughter. Her school is closing for good and they are tearing it down. She is heartbroken. She has only been there two years but some teachers have been there most of their careers. Did you use a special program? They're TEARING the school down? That's so sad! I love making these for teacher gifts because no one else does and every teacher I know has more than enough of any "teacher" stuff! I used an OLD program called Wordle- I don't think it's available anymore. BUT! There's lots of different ones out there that you can use! The more times a word "shows up" the larger it will be. The year, teacher name, school name are 4 times, the kids names are 3 times, the school stuff is 2 times and the covid stuff is 1 time. I type it in a doc file and copy/paste it into the generator. This video has 3 different options for how to make it. I've played around with all of them but decided that I liked wordle the best (probably because it's what I know). The only thing I found with those is that sometimes it left out some of the words so you'll need to make sure you get all the words you want in it. Happy creating! Be sure to share any you make! I love seeing what other do!

my3freaks mentioned the lemon peel stitch upthread and I found a baby blanket that fits my project criteria of being "tv watching in the evenings" friendly. I would like to do it in a different weight wool than they used in the pattern (Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn as opposed to worsted weight) but I don't know how to up the size of hook to use. I know I need to make a test swatch but I'm hoping someone can give me a ballpark on the size or send me some place to look - I haven't been successful in that search so far.

Look at the side of the yarn, it should tell you which size hook is appropriate. Then do a guage swatch and adjust the starting chain to accommodate. If you need more help than this, please post the pattern here and let us know the dimensions of your guage swatch and we will try to help you.
