Yarn girls, I have a question. I follow someone on IG who posts pics of her cats laying all over her beautiful crocheted blanket. I mean it is gorgeous, and apparently she gave it to her cats 🥰 After wondering for months, I found out that the pattern is called Persian Tiles, so I started following that hashtag…and over the last few weeks have just fallen deeply in love. I don’t believe my skills are such (after a year of pretty basic crocheting) that I can undertake it….yet, but hopefully in the not-too-distant future. Anyhow, I’m wondering if anyone here has made it? If so, do you care to share any pics and/or discuss how difficult it was to make. Did you pick your own colors, and if so are you happy with the results? Or any tips or tricks? Here is a link to a bunch of different images in Google of the blanket if you’ve not seen it before. Isn’t it gorgeous?!? www.google.com/search?q=persian+tiles+eastern+jewels+pattern&client=safari&hl=en-us&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwixsODvk47xAhVE6p4KHZBOCY0Q_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1261&bih=823&dpr=2Hi, yes, I've made it twice, one for me and one for a friend. I made the Easter jewels version, very very colourful. If you order the kit, you get the pattern for the original and a second booklet with the colour swops for the Eastern version. The original booklet has lots of photos, mainly of the octagon, showing what you are trying to achieve with each row. You make 16 octagons, 9 squares, 12 large triangles and 4 small triangles. If I remember correctly, the thing that made me stop and think was, how to a make a 29cm octagon out of cardstock to help me block! The designer is Jane Crowfoot, and wool warehouse have the kit for £29.99 www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/packs/stylecraft-eastern-jewels-special-dk-244988The pattern is written in UK terminology but has a table with the US equivalents, the US stitches noted are chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet and treble crochet. There is one point where you create an x with two trebles but it is well expained. I say go for it, it's very doable. Oh, stitch markers would be handy. Thank you thank you thank you I recently purchased the Sheepjes Lynda throw kit (which I haven't started as I've been back to embroidery lately). Once I make it, I may just attempt this one. I am very tempted to make it queen sized bed size and put it on my bed, but in more subtle colors. Have you done the Jane Crowfoot Mystical Lanterns? I'm wondering if I should try that one before the Eastern Jewels. Looks more manageable to me! And yes, making that octagon could be a pain. I've been making hexes out of leftover Stylecraft DK yarn for the heck of it (one of these days i'll do something with all of them). Making the block size out of paper for just that was a bit tricky. BTW...I blame all of you in this thread for getting me started on crochet at the beginning of the pandemic. I never would have had I not drolled over the photos your beautiful creations for so long.

MichyM I've not made the mystical lanterns pattern, I think I've done three of Jane's designs but not that one. I'm happy with her patterns which are well written. Enjoy making the Lynda throw. So many lovely designs, so little time!

Just T I couldn't picture those colors together either, but that is a beautiful blanket. They really do work together! Thank you. I do like it, it just doesn't seem like a blanket for a baby. LOL It's growing on me though. I love the pattern...it's called Catherine's Wheel from Daisy Farm Crafts. I love Daisy Farm Crafts patterns and their color choices!

The first octagon took me forever and then it was smooth sailing once I had it down. The squares and triangles were a piece of cake for me. I think you don’t Facebook anymore, but if you get back on there is a Facebook group that’s has some videos that helped me out too. I changed the border and did my own th8 g.

I have nothing new to share; I lost my crojo. I’m going to,push to do some though before I have carpal tunnel surgery next month and am forced to set it aside for awhile. A tangent about my carpal tunnel syndrome. I’ve had it so long that I was diagnosed during my first pregnancy and that “baby” is about to turn 28. I’ve just finally decided to do something about it haha.

I am happy to report I've finished Dragonbelly. This was the custom color Sunset at the Beach that I picked up at Southern Twist Yarns in Alabama while I was on vacation. You might remember me saying that starting with this trip it is my plan to stop in a LYS every time I travel and make myself a vacation shawl.

Ok help me out crocheters. I want to make a solid color shawl. I have 1500 meters of style craft naturals in blush. Beautiful pink color. But I'm looking on ravelry and nothing is jumping out at me. I really want to make something detailed since it is a solid color. Any suggestions?

And are you searching under wrap and scarf too? You might find a style that you could adapt and make longer, wider etc. Just posting these two to see what direction you want to go for. I wonder if you could find something you like here. www.expressionfiberarts.com/ There are many shawls and some other things including an oversized shrug which may find itself on my hook at some point. That would look nice in a pink I think but probably takes more than you have on hand. I love Chandi, she does videos on Fb and if you join the mailing list you can get free patterns. I have a number of them. Your Dragonbelly is gorgeous.

I wonder if know that things are opening up I could find a place in person to learn?

I am taking a break from minis and sewing to make butterflies for placing on a casket. My Misters Mum died last week and the funeral will have a non wooden casket and only paper flowers and butterflies on top before the cremation. I dragged out my parchment craft stuff and so far have made half a dozen 3D Pergamano butterflies, many more to make yet. Sad to think it will be the last things I make for her. So here are the above mentioned Butterflies. 20 in total. The funeral is at the end of the month my Mister will be going alone as I cannot travel that distance at the moment.

Remember that ball of glowing, autumny goodness that I bought in Aldi? Yesterday I found a pattern, showed it to DH and said "that looks easy, I'll have it done by bedtime". He laughed, but 3 hours later... It is a bit warm for June though. I might have to find some cotton thread and make another one.
