It’s bad enough Congress votes on bills without reading them but Schumer wanted a vote on a bill that hasn’t even been fully written. He knew it was going to fail that’s why he voted with the republicans so he can bring it to the floor again. It was vote to debate the bill not to pass it. In the course of debating a bill bits and pieces can be amended, added, or dropped. She knows that ( or should, the motion is public ) but just wants to pot stir.

I’m well aware of what it was for but how do you debate something that isn’t even written yet. Oh FFS. They debate the language of the bill and what is included and what is not. WTH do you think they debate every time there is a debate? Stop being purposefully obtuse. Go watch some C-span and learn how the senate works ETA: Oh yeah they also ‘debate’ aka lobby for their personal pork benefits in the bills they debate. Then if they do not get the special pork projects they lobbied for there’s a public record of them lobbying for it to run on next election. The Senate has done this since before I was born. It’s not new and it’s not partisan ( unless your pot stirring )

The truth Ronny.... Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) lashed out at reporters in front of the U.S. Capitol on Thursday after they asked questions about GOP members being vaccinated. Jackson whined that it was unfair because the media never asks if Democrats are vaccinated. As CNN's fact-checker Daniel Dale explained, Democrats have been vaccinated for months, where some Republicans are only now deciding to get vaccinated. A May report at CNN.com boasted the 100 percent vaccination rate among Democrats. At that time, only 95 Republicans got the vaccine, which was about 44 percent of the GOP members. Now that the delta variant is spreading, unvaccinated communities that are in red states are once again filling up hospitals. www.rawstory.com/ronny-jackson-democrats-vaccinated-flub/

I wish I knew what their hate is all about too God, guns, gays, greed. I've said it before, but even my local Congressman drank the koolaid a few months ago. The party is lurching evermore into the land of lunacy. "Republican U.S. Sen. James Lankford would seem to have all the conservative credentials he'd need to coast to re-election in deep-red Oklahoma. A devout Baptist, Lankford was the director of the nation’s largest Christian youth camp for more than a decade. He speaks out regularly against abortion and what he describes as excessive government spending. And his voting record in the Senate aligned with former President Donald Trump’s position nearly 90% of the time. But like several other seemingly safe GOP incumbents, Lankford, who didn't even draw a primary opponent in 2016, finds himself under fierce attack by a challenger in his own party. The antagonist is a 29-year-old evangelical minister and political newcomer who managed to draw more than 2,000 people to a “Freedom Rally" headlined by Donald Trump's former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, at which Lankford was accused of being not conservative enough. “When James (Lankford) certified the big lie, he joined the big lie," Jackson Lahmeyer told the raucous crowd in Norman, citing Lankford's failure to endorse Trump's false claims about the election outcome. “The 2020 presidential election — that was a stolen election and we will never, ever allow it to happen again.” The state's GOP chairman, John Bennett, has already endorsed Lahmeyer in the race. Political Cartoons Similar scenes are playing out in other red states where ultra right-wing challengers are tapping into anger among Republicans over Trump's election loss and coronavirus-related lockdowns. Some incumbents suddenly are scrambling to defend their right flank, heating up their own rhetoric on social media and ripping into President Joe Biden at every opportunity. In Texas, GOP Gov. Greg Abbott, who faces a contested reelection primary next year, is pushing looser gun laws than he ever previously embraced and proposing unprecedented state actions, including promises to build more walls on the Mexican border. “I think it’s unquestionably attributable to the aftermath of the 2020 election and the insurrection and former President Trump’s claims of voter fraud,” said Alan Abramowitz, a political science professor at Emory University in Atlanta. Some conservative incumbents are obvious targets for right-wing challenges — notably U.S. Reps. Liz Cheney in Wyoming and Anthony Gonzalez in Ohio who voted to impeach Trump. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp's offense was refusing to block Georgia's electoral votes from being awarded to Biden. But with the 2022 election cycle approaching, the backlash is also touching even those who backed Trump consistently through countless controversies. Texas' Abbott echoed Trump's partisan positions and has banked $55 million in campaign funds, more than any sitting governor in history.
But he's drawn a challenge from Allen West, who until recently was the chairman of the Texas GOP. West, a tea party firebrand and former Florida congressman, has attacked Abbott's leadership after Democrats temporarily thwarted a GOP voting bill by decamping to Washington. And he can draw a crowd. Last year, West led a boisterous rally outside the governor’s mansion to demand an end to coronavirus lockdown restrictions. “We cannot sit around and continue to do nothing,” West told supporters in South Texas during one of his first campaign stops. Actually winning a primary is probably more than many challengers, including West, can expect. But they can succeed in pushing the party farther to the right while also raising their own profiles as public figures."www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2021-07-20/seemingly-safe-gop-incumbents-under-attack-from-right-wingDoesn't make sense to me because I've never heard THIS much anger and disgust directed at our Congressman's social media posts. He has angered both sides now. Dumb move, IMO, and if you can't be true to yourself while trying to be bipartisan, you've got nothing.

Off topic but commentary on McCarthy and his mess... I think it is worth reading... The most important thing to remember about the formation of the select committee to investigate the January 6 Capitol riot is this: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi gave Republicans multiple opportunities to act as good faith investigators who want to help reveal the truth, instead of as insurrection co-conspirators who are running interference for Donald Trump. www.rawstory.com/kevin-mccarthy-insurrection-2653902352/***** She got a lecture from her home town paper...They say she didn't go far enough... Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) received a lecture on her select committee investigating the January 6th insurrection from the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle. www.rawstory.com/nancy-pelosi-insurrection/

Local too.... Among the many that were allowed to use COVID-19 funds without much oversight was a conservative Michigan town where county commissioners used the allotted money to pay themselves bonuses. According to The Guardian, called out Shiawassee County commissioners were told by prosecutors that the payments were illegal and that they had to be paid back. The Argus Press reported the incident to the local community, explaining that the Michigan state constitution doesn't allow such compensation "after services had already been rendered," prosecutor Scott Koerner explained. It was July 15 when commissioners voted 6 to 0 to give themselves all $65,000 out of the $557,000 they voted to give to 250 county staffers as "hazard pay" during the COVID disaster. "The smallest amounts for recipients were $1,000 to $2,000. But the chairman of the county board, Jeremy Root, got $25,000. Two commissioners received $10,000 each, while four received $5,000 each," said the report. *** Another report over the weekend revealed that the commissioners violated the Open Meetings Act as well, by doing the vote in a closed session. Webster also noted that she wasn't surprised by that because "it's not the first time Shiawassee County has been sued over this." Its not clear why the commissioners continue then to do closed sessions like these. www.rawstory.com/republican-corruption/

Meanwhile you have the crazies spouting so many lies it’s amazing anyone wants to stand next to them when they’re lying because of the possibility they could be struck by lightning. And yet no one is calling for them to be “punished”. Do you understand how screwed up the Republican Party has become?

They really are all grifters... Right-wing Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) is asking for donations so that he can pay for the fines for Congressional members and their staff who refuse to wear a mask in the Capitol. But when clicking the link to donate, it takes you to his campaign page.www.rawstory.com/cawthorn-fundraising-off-mask-mandate/And he has the famous yellow MONTHLY donation box pre-checked. Again, Pelosi did NOT mandate masks. It was the Capitol physician who made the decision!!

This is an interesting tweet from the House GOP leadership…
Yes I understand that Medicare and Medicaid because they are government run are/can be considered “socialism “.
But…
Medicare and Medicaid do not cover every American. There is a huge gap of Americans who do not have medical coverage because they don’t qualify for Medicare, their state may or may not have expanded Medicaid, these folks don’t get medical benefits through their employer and they can’t afford the premiums for individual coverage.
So just exactly what are they suppose to do?
This question should be asked of every single Republican running for Congress and the Presidency. And people should keep asking it until they provide an answer.
