One of our two great political parties has simply gone mad.

I think former is just mad that the Republicans ignored him and he’s lashing out in his typical style. He’s probably also jealous that the Democrats did something he was never able to do. Last night on PBS, they talked about how former had the opportunity to pass an infrastructure bill, almost every other week was infrastructure bill. However, former was either too lazy or infrastructure wasn’t a priority.
His lack of knowledge or misunderstanding of history never fails to surprise me, though.

I’m glad they were able to pass the infrastructure bill. However, I still think Congress is broken. As long as the Republican Party is still the party of former, I’m not very optimistic that anything will change.

I hope they can focus on a voting rights bill now. I think the only way to pass it will involve carving out an exception from the filibuster. Manchin’s bill with voter ID and voter purges didn’t get a single Republican vote earlier this summer.

The Republicans that voted against it are whining that it’s not paid for. Well, that’s because their colleagues drew a line in the sand about raising corporate income taxes and refused to negotiate on that point. Maybe to give cover to those who voted against the bill.

Still, other Republicans held firm in their opposition, many of whom dismissed the legislation as fiscally irresponsible. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., told NPR Monday that he agrees the country needs to invest in infrastructure, but "I believe we need to live within our means."

Scott noted the Congressional Budget Office projected that the infrastructure bill would add about $256 billion to deficits over 10 years

South Carolina county Republican Party chair dies

Greenville County Republican Party leader Pressley Stutts died Thursday morning after succumbing to COVID-19, The Greenville News reported.

Stutts spent nearly a month in the hospital battling the virus, but according to Anderson County GOP's Dan Harvell, Stutts ultimately lost that battle.

Both Stutts and his wife were forced to go to the hospital on Aug. 1 when oxygen levels dropped.

"The COVID has created double pneumonia in my lungs," Stutts wrote in a Facebook post.

A supporter of former President Donald Trump, Stutts posted on his Facebook page in July he shared a post that cited Dr. Leana Wen saying that the unvaccinated are a threat to national security. The Palmer Report shared her comments adding that he believes anti-vaxxers should be forced to get constantly tested or stay at home.

In June, he shared photos of an anti-mask protest and celebrated when the legislature voted against mandating masks, vaccines and testing for state workers.
