My brother is getting married in September. I'm a "groomsmaid" - the only woman in the wedding. It's a "British garden party" look and this is the venue. I have this as the swatch for color. It doesn't have to be solid color, but needs to make sense with that pocket square. The dress is up to me beyond that. It's a late afternoon, outdoor wedding. It's not FORMAL FORMAL but definitely not casual either. I'm having a hell of a time finding anything I like - the options in the colorway are not plentiful. Help! I'm 5' 8" with broad shoulders and curves. I wear a size 8 in most brands. I don't want strapless or spaghetti straps - my shoulders just look huge in those. I'd prefer not *too* body-con for comfort but if the dress is great, I guess I'll suck it up and wear Spanx.  |

idk if you want a traditional bridesmaid dress or not, but azazie.com has so many styles and so many colors. it might be worth taking a look.

I'd rather not have a traditional bridesmaid dress if I can avoid it, but with the color, I feel like I may not have a choice :/

My personal style would be to never wear lilac lol but here I am, so I just want something that's pretty and flattering. |

What about something like this Sue Sartor Kaftan? They will do custom orders so they may have suggestions on color combinations that would work. They also have a lot of florals to pick from, but for some reason I think of tailored and solids when I think of you. I could be totally off base though. |

Is your brother wearing full morning dress? Do they want you to wear a fascinator? Or is that only for FORMAL formal? The only British weddings I’ve seen have been royal or movies and the women were mostly wearing some sort of hat. If I try to add more than one photo at once it eats my posts so I’ll come back and add more in a bit. Long Lilac print from NM

I tried two Nordstrom stores yesterday and there was a total of one dress that was even in the ballpark of the right colors (and it was waaaay too fussy for me). I didn’t think of Anthro - will try! That Johnny Was dress wouldn’t be the right look for this but is super cute and I may need to order it anyway! (Replied to your message - sorry for the delay!) |

No boob ruffles!!! lol (seriously, with my body shape, I can’t wear them. They are just super unflattering with a larger chest and broad shoulders - i look even more top-heavy than I actually am. Closer fitting on the top with not a lot of extras and more volume on the bottom tends to balance me out the best.)

Hell no am I wearing a fascinator (nor have they have they mentioned it - they did say they don’t want it to feel like a costume party and I think a bunch of Americans wearing fascinators would 100% feel costumey). I don’t think the colors are quite right on that second dress but I like it - definitely going to look at that brand! |
