Called Prize Ribbon. It’s another blue. Jennifer McGuire just posted a YouTube video using it.
I have enough blues so I’ll be passing on this one.

I already had to order it. This might be my favorite ink color. I ordered it from a different online craft store, but this is a link to Prize Ribbon.

It’s way too close to blueprint sketch. It’s a definite pass for me.

It’s way too close to blueprint sketch. It’s a definite pass for me. My exact thought. But then I saw it stamped and, to me, it's closer to faded jeans. Of all the thousands of colors the blue family seems like one that's not as much requested as many others (peaches, yellows, purples, grays, etc.) and close to one already mixed. ETA: This is from Nicol Spohr's video: Prize ribbon, blueprint, faded jeans and stormy sky (and then repeated)

I disagree- Blueprint Sketch is almost like a periwinkle blue. This is like a combo of royal or French Blue. Outside the world of 2 peas there were a lot of people looking for a truer blue. But as it was explained on the live, these new colors were picked a year ago so there you have it. That's the new color, like it, don't like it it's up to you. But I like seeing the swatches that show the difference in the colors. Plus the type of paper you use matters as well. Plus the makes using the new color are unbelievably good! Definitely take a look at those!

I ordered the full collections of Speckled Egg, Kitsch Flamingo and Salvaged Patina. Prize Ribbon doesn’t spark the same enthusiasm for me so I just ordered the oxide ink pad. Too many blues already IMO. I was really hoping for a peach or purple.

This is kind of a tangent, but whenever I watch these types of release videos from Tim Holtz, I always come away wondering why he says Ranger limits the number of colors/items he can release. On the one hand, I can imagine the amount of time and labor it takes to develop a new color, manufacture it in all the different forms and then store and ship it...but on the other hand, anything Tim Holtz seems to sell like hotcakes. Yes, it's not smart to flood the market, so in this sense, I understand why they don't release 20 new Distress colors at once, but then when it comes to things like full-size Distress Archival ink pads (which he released a month ago or so?), seems like it's a no-brainer that it would be a hot seller, so why not do that sooner?

In Jennifer McGuire’s video they looked almost exactly alike. It still doesn’t do anything for me so it’s a no go.

One more thing about this new color. A ton of “celebs” already had it long enough to make a boat load of cards for blog posts and videos. It’s interesting to see who got a freebie and who didn’t.

In videos from a long time back he talked about making the first oxides, how Ranger thought even the name sounded toxic and they thought no one would buy them. He fought to get the first 12 colors and they told him there would be no more. And look what happened..... Also, from time to time, he will announce a new product from Ranger, and say it came about because people requested it and Ranger relented. I would think by now they would have more faith in him than it sounds like they do. Almost 7800 ppl have watched the release video already today. 40,000 the Sizzix release from last week. His "one and done" stuff has been consistently selling out. I like the new blue. Sure there are lots of blues, but this one is finally an Americana blue. True red, white and blue blue. He did say in the release that Ranger starting shipping the ink last week, and a lot of the retailers sent the ink out to their designers as soon as they got it, before the official release, so they could have makes ready for the release. So that may have nothing to do with him, per se. I image Simon Says was one of those. Hence the Jenn McGuire makes.

I really love the new blue. I also don’t own the full range of colors, so maybe I’m less critical of “another” blue.

Scrapbook dot com sent it out to all of their influencers, from what I've seen. Other companies probably did too.

Yes, I totally agree with you, bolded the part that stood out to me! Not sure if it's them not "having faith" or if it's a decision made because of other factors we don't know, but it's definitely weird to me!

Do we have swatches with different phases of oxidisation? ETA: For the Oxide version, obviously.

I think it's because of the investment: the range of different Distress products on offer is large (+ all the reinkers). They're a permanent addition as well, not a limited edition. That has very different implications than launching a product that will no longer be made in a year's time. I can see why Ranger is being cautious and not overplaying their hand here. It also makes sense as a sales strategy (too much too quick and the customer grows weary).

I would have loved to see a purple or peach. But this shade of blue looks beautiful to me. I'll pick it up for sure.

There's not a distress ink I won't buy (well not the brown tones) and I never buy the whole collection. The regular and oxides pads are just right for me so that's how I justify it. I think this blue is pretty and different. I can see it as an interesting possibility with other colors. I can't wait to experiment with it.

Because my bank account would have less money in it, OR I would not have all the colors I wanted. As it is, I have to spread my fun money with lots of other crafty items, and my wishlist never ends.

I really like this colour but I have a similar shade in my stash so I feel like I'd need to know I would do a lot of mm backgrounds to justify buying this.

At first I also thought it was nearly identical to Blueprint Sketch, but these newer inks have a different dimension in the underlying colors. The maker samples were so beautiful, I just had to buy it. It blended really well with the other latest releases too. I can’t wait to play with it!

It's pretty and you can't really go wrong with a blue but I'm not particularly taken with it on first viewing. I need to have a proper look at the colors I have vs the colors I think I want and see whether this fills any gaps or not. I'm thinking not, for me. I think chipped sapphire is the blue I "need" - something rich and dark rather than a classic clear blue, which is what I think this seems to be. Off to check out some samples and examples.
ETA: Victoria Marie did some really lovely samples using it with a clear bright yellow.

I think chipped sapphire is the blue I "need" Seeing it next to Chipped Sapphire, below, makes me think it looks ever more like that than it does like faded jeans from my post above. I've been into mixing my own colors w/reinkers. If I want this one, I'll try to mix it - see how close I come.

I really like this blue, thanks for posting the visual @zingermack!
Blue is my most used inkpad. I need to see how this compares to my usual blue ink, and see if I can justify this blue. I have the blueprint color, and while I have used it on a few layouts, it wasn't really the blue I was looking for.

Not sure if I need this color. I have a space limit and I might see what else is coming out. if you go to the next picture the blues are swiped out. http://instagram.com/p/CRb2QwZoxE_

Faded jeans is the least like Debbie’s top row of blues in her second IG photo, @zingermack . It’s lighter than those three with more of a gray undertone. Like real life classic color faded jeans. I just googled for comparisons, and here’s video that might help. Fast forward to about 3:30 If you’d just like to see faded jeans, chipped sapphire and prize ribbon together. She’s the only person I’ve found who talks about the bit of purple in chipped sapphire. I have every Oxide color except a couple browns, and will buy the Oxide pad and re-inker, that’s all. I don’t use this type of blue that often but there have been times I’ve futzed around with all the blues without finding one that’s right. So this will fill that little gap. Swiping ink pads to swatch is okay, but ink is so intense that way, which can be deceptive, so it’s neat she stamped them. Perfect for my swatching is a little blending and a stamp. youtu.be/sEKp3-QJpmwETA And every screen can show color differently.

if you go to the next picture the blues are swiped out. That's great. Wish they had done Faded Jeans. New color is swatched against Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Blueprint Sketch at about 10:32 of the release video. Good comparison.
