I haven't added bulk myself, but I have received a few cards that were thinner than your standard cards and they were fine. I think that if you wanted to add some thin cardstock that would be fine, just make sure it's adhered well enough that you won't have to worry about it peeling apart in transit.

Two of my cards have been registered as arrived, how exciting! I can't wait to get some myself! That's fantastic!! I am still patiently waiting for one of mine to get registered. In the meantime, reading the forum and favoriting postcards has been fun!

Can someone tell me if you know of a way to copy/paste the addresses? I know you can print them but I wish I could drop them in Publisher or in a Word document to print several addresses off at the same time. Maybe for safety and security reasons you can't do that?
I can always hand write them but I like to make cute address labels.

nicolep they don't allow for copying/pasting, for safety reasons. You'll have to type it out manually if you want to print them in batches, or you can take screenshots and put them together that way.

Just popping in to keep the thread alive Has anyone sent new cards or had cards registered? Also, just a reminder that once a sent card has been registered, you are eligible to draw another address to keep your send/receive cycle going--or not, that's the beauty of it. And with every day that passes, you're a bit closer to receiving your first card! I ordered a mystery postcard bundle from LouPaper on Etsy and the cards (as well as the shop owner) are very nice! You can even request a few design "wishes" out of her offerings for your mystery pack and she very kindly included everything I requested. The cards are heavy with rounded corners. I kept seeing Postcrossers favorite them and mention being interested in receiving them, so I went to take a peek at her shop. If you like her style, I highly recommend her cards. I also happened to see the Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat postcard set at a bookstore yesterday and caved. I enjoyed watching the series when it aired and I appreciate that there are two of every card so that if there is something I especially like, I can keep it for myself (such as the grilled cheese sandwich). And finally, I purchased some of the beautiful Sun Science stamps from the post office. They have some holographic/foil-like features and are very cool. Right now, I'm using two Forever stamps and a 10 cent makeup stamp for postage. When the rates change on 8/29, it will be two Forevers and 14 cents makeup, which is a bit awkward, but oh well. Happy Postcrossing!

I sent my first 5 this week so now I (VERY IMPATIENTLY) wait. They went to Finland, Japan, Russia Federation, Germany and the US.
I am online right now looking at different postcards and I was wondering if anyone sends shaped postcards and if so do you have a resource?

I'm a product of the 80's so I'm going to make one that looks like an old cassette tape to start out. Something like these. I like the gray/green one.

Germany and the U.S. should register pretty quickly, then your name will immediately go out into the pool to receive! I have sent shaped cards, but I don't have a source--I just pick them up when I see them, which is not often. I have some character cards from Disneyland and some of the tourist cards for my state are cut in the shape of the state (Oregon is pretty blocky, so nothing too intricate). Noteworthy Paper Press on Etsy has some wonderful die cut letterpress cards, but they are $5 each! I would search "die cut postcards" to see what else you can ferret out. Zee's suggestion to make your own might be the most economical, if you're feeling crafty.

He keeps me supplied with variety, since airports are a good source. Since you now have an "employee" to assist with this hobby, I'll mention that many people enjoy receiving state map cards and try to collect all 50 states. They are a pretty standard tourist card--a stylized map of the state with well-known cities marked and some decorative icons. Though maps have always been popular, it's interesting how the some of the desired themes have changed over the years. I remember that when I first started in 2012, everyone wanted lighthouses and wolves!

Zee I think we could probably find a lot of really fun designs that we could we can make into postcard size you know? It was fun reading everyone's profiles and finding a postcard that matched their hobbies or likes or interests. chendra I have a lot of history in Oregon btw. My mom is from Oregon and is a UofO alum. My grandparents and aunts and uncles lived there all of my childhood but we had moved to Ohio when I was young so we spent many summers vacationing at my grandparents in Medford. ♥

We've had a lot of new Postcrossing members, which is exciting! One of the YouTube folks that I watch received a card from Lisa in Salt Lake City. I swear this has got to be a pea who sent this card because of the beautiful calligraphy on the envelope, the amazing handwriting, and all of the goodies that they included in the envelope for Fernando. Is this from someone on this board? You can see his video here youtu.be/1SLwKbWqWy0

I got my first card yesterday! It was from TN and came in an envelope with a nice long letter, and special stamp marks with an explanation of what they're from. Really nice. I have a book I plan on putting them all in.
Also, before this, one of my oldest friends started sending me postcards and we've gone back and forth but I'm going to up my game with art cards for her.

One of my first 5 cards was registered today, yay! I immediately requested another address lol.
The one that was registered today was a US card but who was it that said Germany is a quick send typically? I wonder why it's so quick?

So far I have sent 7 and received 2, both from the US.
The guy who requested Princess Charlotte was pretty amused and favorited my card. As he should have, I really want the extra mile for that dude and I'm still suspicious of his motives but the whole thing did amuse us both.

So far I have sent 6, and 3 of those were received. I have received none. I sent 5 at once and the three cards to Europe were all accounted for. The ones to Russia and North Carolina (!) are not yet.

You aren't in the running to receive a card until your outgoing cards have been registered. I bet you'll see some in your mailbox soon!

That's one of the reasons people sometimes ask for envelopes. My parents met at OSU, but I grew up elsewhere because my dad was in the military. We also visited relatives in Medford during the summer

I came off my Postcrossing break and mailed cards the same week some of you started and have already sent two rounds to Germany (sent/received, sent/received) and only just received my first cards today (though I received three at once). I also happened to check out the Postal Monitor (you can find it under the "Explore" tab) and it shows how Covid and other factors are currently affecting mail delivery throughout the world. Ecuador isn't sending or receiving international mail at all! I didn't know that the U.S. is not currently sending mail to 18 countries, but other countries have lists of over 100.

For the first time, I decided to download the official Postcrossing World Postcard Day design and have some printed and ready to go for October 1st. If you are interested, the design for the front and back can be found on the blog. I ordered through Vista Print, and even though I probably should have waited for a good promotion, I still got a 20% off "first timer" discount. For 50 cards and shipping, it worked out to $0.56 per card, which is not bad, though the price reduces for larger amounts. I'm going to send one to all of the kids in the family as well as Postcrossers, but I think 50 was plenty for my purposes. I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else wanted to order or start thinking about potential creations I also just drew the address of a fellow in Germany who mentioned that the word for freckles in German is "sommersprossen"--summer sprouts! ETA: Wow, I didn't realize the card was creating such a stir. It turns out that the winning design chosen by three entities (the Postcrossing team was only one of them) is from Taiwan. Now, many Chinese members are upset and are using the comments to say "Don't send me this card!" So, just be aware that it has ruffled some feathers if you decide to use it.

Happy World Postcard Day, fellow Postcrossers! Is everyone still hanging in there? Have you learned anything new about the world or received anything especially interesting? For instance, I've learned that chili con carne is apparently all the rage in Russia right now. At least three of my senders or recipients have mentioned it. I wonder what the Russian version is like? I also received one of the super cool James Bond stamps from Great Britain yesterday. shop.royalmail.com/special-stamp-issues/james-bond It was from a guy in London who works in an adult store in SoHo. I'll bet he has some stories, though he didn't relay any of them to me! I also sent a card to a woman who had made it her personal goal to send 5,000 handwritten letters (no deadline). It took her 10 1/2 years. Oh, and have you run across the American guy (user name SeanPatrick) who is a photographer and generally sends postcards with photos of himself? You should check out his wall. When he receives a postcard, he posts a photo of himself holding it. I love his interpretation of this project. Cheers!

I'm still at it, though things have stalled because all but one of the last round I sent have been in transit for a very long time. Different countries, different mail dates, so I'm not sure what's going on.
The last one I sent to an older man in India who collects stamps. I drew pictures of The Jungle Book animals on it and mentioned that's how I picture India, and I used those cool solar flare stamps. He sent me a very nice note thanking me for the stamps, complimenting my drawing skills, and he favorited it 😁 and that's why I enjoy this!
I just hope all the rest finally arrive! One has been traveling to Indonesia for 50+ days. I guess it will expire soon.
