@zee I’m glad you are having fun with it! I sent 10 and received 10 and am taking a break. Hope you missing card arrives soon (or the person that received it logs it!).

I'm trying to figure out how I haven't seen this post before.
I'm definitely going to check this out.

Happy World Postcard Day! It's 11:57pm here so it still counts I sent out a handful of cards today. I went to my post office yesterday and confused the clerk when I asked for both international stamps and 10cent stamps - I told him that I do Postcrossing, and that some Postcrossers request varied stamps, so I use two domestic Forevers plus one 10c and one 5c and he was like "wow, that's thoughtful!" He probably thinks I'm nuts but that's part of the charm lol

I am in DEEP and loving every second of it!! I was so excited for World Postcard Day today that I designed an unofficial card and initiated a WPD swap in the Postcrossing FB group and ended up swapping with 30 other people. It was so much fun having my card printed last week and then embellishing them with washi, stickers, different stamps and writing my message! I think it's really neat how internationals get so excited about our variety of stamps! It seriously makes them so happy. ♥ I am grateful that this was shared with me! kiera All of mine have made it to their destinations except for one traveling to Russia now for almost 60 days and I also have an odd one that is traveling to Canada and is nearing 30 days which is crazy. I've sent 17 and have received 16. I have also become slightly obsessed with buying postcards. 😂 Here is the card I designed.

nicolep your cards are beautiful!! How fun! I'm so glad you dove in. Sometimes cards get stuck in the mail, I'm not sure why - I once received a card 3 months after it was mailed, and it was from another Postcrosser in the US! So weird. I didn't buy any special cards for WPD but I wish I did. Next year!

I think she said they use 12pt cover stock but I like a heavier postcard (16-18pt). It did the job for what I needed though.

I'm glad people are enjoying it. With the uncertainty and the worry of the last year and a half, I didn't fully recognize how much of a day-brightener receiving a little piece of happy mail from someone else on the planet is until I started up again. Thanks kiera for the reminder Zee There is nothing like an appreciative "hooray" message is there? I'm not artistic like you (I wish I could draw!), but I like to use my hoard of washi, stickers and stamps to reflect a person's interests if I can. And I get so excited when I have a card I think someone will really enjoy. Unfortunately, I think the pandemic has really affected mail service all over the world and everything just travels slower. I had a card to Russia expire recently, but that doesn't mean that it will never be received. And I have a 30 day slowpoke to Canada too. nicolep Wow, above and beyond! Those cards are wonderful! I'll bet your recipients will be so pleased to receive them. And I agree about stamps. I'm glad the USPS has stepped up its game and is producing really cool stamps. I have some scratch and sniff popsicle ones from a few years ago that I pull out for birthdays and for newbies. I also recently bought a sheet of the T. Rex ones, not knowing that two of them were motion stamps. I need to buy some more before they disappear, since people are pretty excited about receiving them. Now I will feel a bit guilty if I send one of the two that doesn't move. Maybe I'll use them on Christmas cards (I used Alfred Hitchcock stamps on our wedding invitations, so no one should be surprised) And the Day of the Dead stamps were just released, so I'm going to buy some of those plus more Spooky Silhouettes, which are some of my personal favorites. malibou Come join us! It's a fun and low-pressure hobby. I advise reading the FAQ and browsing the forum and blog to get a feel for things, though of course, we can answer questions too. Speaking of stamps, I was reading the forum topic about "Best Stamps Received" here: community.postcrossing.com/t/best-stamps-youve-received/15211/564 and learned about some interesting non-obvious features. If you received any of the round Russian stamps with fruit, they are scratch and sniff! If you've received any of the winter animal stamps from Canada, the animal's formerly invisible footprints glow under UV light! Apparently, all Russian stamps produced after a certain date also have a black light feature (do people commonly have black lights? I don't. Maybe I need to buy a little counterfeit bill detecting pen for that feature). Some are hilarious. There is a Russian stamp featuring cats that appears to be just a lovely normal stamp, but under black light the cat is wearing a top hat. There are also some space stamps from China that glow in the dark.

Hello again Postcrossers! What's new? Since most of my allotted postcards are voyaging to Russia right now, I decided to try some swaps in the forum. I'm trading Halloween postcards and playing cards (to use in scrapbooking). I also sent a card to a little Beaver scout in England who is assembling a postcard collection to earn her Collector badge. Has anyone tried swaps? Has anyone purchased the new Message Monsters stamps? I didn't realize that they come with accessory stickers to personalize them. store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/message-monster-stamps-S_481304Did you happen to see the video about "same sky" vintage postcards on the blog? I'm going to look through the stack of vintage cards my MIL gave me and see if I unearth any. www.postcrossing.com/blog/2021/10/15/same-sky-postcards

I have been very active in the forum doing tags and round robins, they sure are a lot of fun! I am so thankful I found Postcrossing when I did (I am awaiting knee replacement and am stuck home), thank you Kiera for sharing your fun hobby!
