I'm leaving for vacation soon and sure enough I have a cold! This happens to me all the time, maybe subconsciously I really don't want to travel? Anyway, I need a good cough medicine, there are so many to choose from, does anyone have one that they swear by that actually helps? Thanks!

I don't take any cough medicine so I can't speak from experience. But my dh and dd use Tylenol Cold Multi-Symptom Severe Daytime Liquid-Cool Burst and it works really well for them. They also said it doesn't taste nearly as bad as some of the other cough medicines.

I take MucinexD - it dries everything out - so no cough.

I rarely take medicine, choosing to weather headaches/allergies/cramps/etc. However, every couple of years I'll get a lingering virus with cough that prevents me from sleeping or eventually makes me miserable & resort to medicine. Over the years I've tried every OTC brand name product recommended by the triage nurse/doctor/pharmacist, & the ONLY one that I've found to work for me is the generic/knockoff, CVS Tussin CF. Hope you feel better soon & have a safe & enjoyable vacation!

I have never had a cough syrup that worked. I've tried Delsym. I've tried Robitussin. I've tried prescriptions. None of it works.
When I do get that awful chest cold, I suffer through the day. At night, I slather on the vaporub and, if I'm desperate, take a shot of Nyquil.

Nothing works for me except a prescription with codeine. I hate having a cough!

The doctors I work with recommend Delsym, so that's what I use.

Here you go. I don't know how well it actually works for coughs, but you probably won't care much after a few swigs . I hope you feel better soon!

I don't believe any of them really work all that well, but we buy Delsym. My dh thinks that it works, and as far as cough medicines go, it tastes pretty decent. Far, far better than Robitussin. That stuff is evil.

. I hope you feel better soon! I think I feel a cough coming on. Or an attack of the vapors. Doesn't really matter, I know what I am asking Santa for.

Delsym does nothing for us. I use chestal which is homeopathic. It works the best so far-maybe it's psychological but if it works, we'll stick with it. Only thing is, it doesn't last long so you have to take it more often.

Delsym is what I use. I hope you feel better soon. Our pediatrician always recommended Delsym. It worked great for the kids and for us. Feel better soon!
