Happy August and welcome to the challenge team MARIBETHR , nylene , teacherlisa , grammadee , cycworker , boymom5 , schroema , ComplicatedLady , azcraftyPLEASE POST SOME CHALLENGES ON THE CHALLENGE THREAD! Choose something that can earn you points or encourage you in your creativity! I'm getting this thread up promptly this month because I'm leaving on a camping trip for a week on Tuesday, and the next 2 days are going to be super busy with preparations. And housecleaning. What happens when you let things slide a bit OTOH, I just got a box of new things yesterday so I'm itching to play, but I really don't know if it's in the cards. I was really impressed with the productivity on the boards in July. Summer is my slow time (I'm a summer player, winter hibernator) so I just assume other peas follow suit My new box of supplies included Catherine Pooler inks. I'd heard so much about them, I decided to give them a try - I got the mini ink pads so I could get more colours. They are 1"x2", so more usable than 1x1" cubes. My first impressions: WOWOWOWOWOW, where have you been all my life? The images stamp so much more solidly - even off cheap stamps - and details/small print came out beautifully too. I'm thinking I've started a bad habit now, especially considering that I'm not a huge stamper. What is your most recent non-basic purchase? Do you have a supply that you highly recommend to other scrappers/cardmakers? I'd love to hear. Inks? Glues? Pens? Tools? The products I tend to find changed my experience in my hobby are: Accent Opaque 120lb cardstock (so much cheaper than Neenah, I don't have to try to conserve cardstock too much!) and Art Glitter Glue. Well, off to watch an Olympic sprint, then roll up my sleeves and get productive!

Good morning, kitbop, I have been wanting to try the Catherine Pooler inks. Now you have my mouth watering even more. So hard for me to do since I have so many inks already. And I agree whole heartedly Art Glitter Glue was a total game changer for be as well. Never heard of the Accent Opaque 120lb I may have to try that I do go through quite a bit of cardstock. Have a great camping trip, we will start our camping trips back up come September, we camp in spring and fall due to the heat in our area in the summer.

Good morning Divas and kitbop! I hope you a have a great time and come home with lots of pics to scrap. I can't wait to see your beautiful LO and read the stories...stalker 😆. I used to love art glitter glue (have a huge bottle of it), but I got a bottle of Bearly Art Glue with a precision top and I just love it and it doesn't clog up on me like the art glitter glue does. I almost have all the minis from CP and I just love them. I have some other brand minis, but these just stamp so nice and love that they are bigger. I got a small shelf organizer from Target(dollar spot) and holds them perfectly, I can fit 8 on 1 shelf, thats one collection. I have this hanging above my desk on the wall and now I'm using my stamps much more often what is a good thing because I have so many of them 😅. I love DiamondDotz they are cheap and just perfect to add texture to my cards. Wax pencil for picking up sequins, DiamondDotz and paper. I bought a porcelain serving platter, rectangle, and I use it to display my pieced together diecuts or small diecuts before gluing them, it doesn't get static like plastic tray does. I was browsing at an antique shop and found an oyster plate, it has 12 small reservoir what holds liquid water colors or reinkers. I really bought it to mix alcohol inks, but I haven't tried that one yet.

azcrafty I have been tempted to try the Bearly Art Glue. I think you will like it. I got the 2 oz bottle for easy handling and planning to get the biggest bottle to refill. They have a rubber stopper top for $.99 to use instead the pin I will buy that too.

Hello Diva's! Wishing everyone a fun and creative August! kitbop I hope you have a great time camping. Looking forward to seeing all the outdoor adventure pages! We will be spending alot of time with family this month. Will be taking photos. Hoping to get some of them onto pages! Most of my scrappy purchases are non essential LOL. I have a pile of stuff behind the counter of the LSS waiting for me to come in and pick it up. In the pile are a couple of Simple Stories May releases (which just arrived at the LSS this week), some new 49 & Market Take a Hike papers, and the store's July kit. When I last ordered from Hero Arts, I added some Christmas ornament dies to my cart before hitting the checkout button, but I wont be playing with those this month.

a couple of Simple Stories May releases (which just arrived at the LSS this week), some new 49 & Market Take a Hike papers I have these in my cart at an online store! I'm a little grumpy at my LSS who has decided to keep their doors closed and only do online/curbside pickup since their business hasn't suffered by closing down. I can get products online cheaper - why would I shop with them if I don't get the benefit of in person shopping? So for example, the vintage artistry collection pack is $14.24 online (equates to about $18.00 cdn) OR I can get it from my LSS for $21.99 PLUS TAX! Yes, in the past I supported them because it felt good to support local business. But I draw the line if you are online only!

Hi, Divas! My life changing purchases in scrapping supplies were my Silhouette, Distress Oxides and Art Glitter Glue. I haven't had the glue clog up on me and I have refilled my 2oz bottle enough that my 8oz bottle needs to be reordered. I can't scrap without my Silhouette. I use it constantly for scrapping, cards, and for visual aids for my Primary class. kitbop , I hope you have a good time camping. Camping is my least favorite thing in the world. I must be doing it wrong because so many others enjoy it. (shudder). I'm glad you like your new inks. I may have to look into those. Thanks for the recommendation. Thanks for hosting us again this month! I will try to check in more often!

Camping is my least favorite thing in the world. I must be doing it wrong because so many others enjoy it. (shudder OK, we discuss this very topic at work all the time! So Diva poll! Alas, I can't make an official poll since I'm not creating the thread: 1. NO CAMPING THANK YOU VERY MUCH 2. I'll camp in a trailer/RV 3. I'll camp in a tent if there are real washrooms and showers available 4. I'll throw supplies in a canoe/backpack and head out into the wilderness I'm firmly in #3 territory. I hate outhouses and need to be able to make things clean-ish. I don't LOVE tenting. If you gave me an RV I would be a very. happy. person. As to the inks - the CP inks seem very much like the oxide inks but without that chalky/dull finish you sometimes get - they stay wetter than die-based inks - but only briefly, not annoyingly wet like a pigment ink - you can wet emboss with them, they blend beautifully, and they are water reactive too! They seem like an "all in one" ink I've been dreaming of. The oxides are close and I have a lot, but these are a bit better. Add the ink PAD to the deal (it's a different material, rubbery foam?, and is so much easier to ink up a stamp with!) and I'm sold.

Diva poll: I choose door #2! As my ds says, "glamping". I enjoyed our holiday trailer camping days. It had no A/C, and we had to make up the beds into couches every morning. We spent most of our non sleeping time outdoors, but I tended to cook and wash dishes in the trailer.
I have camped in a tent trailer with no amenities except the campground outhouses, but I really don't want to do that again. Maybe if there were flush toilets and working showers available, but even then I have no desire to sleep in tent on the ground.
You enablers! Do I now need to start collecting CP inks? The dullness of the finished colour is the one downside of Oxides for me. If these are brighter...

#2 with a caveat - We rarely camp with electricity or hook ups of any kind, we cook only outside, and really only use the RV for the lavatory, shower and bed (and shelter from rain/snow. One of our favorite camping spots

I am firmly in #1. We were fire lookouts on a Mountain all one summer with an outhouse (without a door) and water being brought to use weekly in a 10 gal can. No electricity. That was the enough for me.
My idea of roughing it now at this age, is a day in hotel without room service!

Hi all! I haven't been able to scrap as much lately as I have wanted. We were super busy with baseball season and have now directly gone to cross country and back to school prep. I'm hoping to get some today after the kids have lunch and my youngest goes for a rest. In my PL album I'm just starting July, so not too behind, but I want to catch up!
Camping for me would definitely need to be glamping! I'm not an outdoorsy girl, but can do it if I needed to.

Soooooooo...... Last year I purchased a Graphic 45 kit, Fashion Forward, from Pinecone Press during one of the many online events I attended. The kit boasted that you could create 50 A6 cards and 20 gift cards. When I received the collection, I was less than enthused with some of the cards they had designed, so the kit sat on my shelf. But in my drive to use up all my kits before I can begin purchasing more I dug the kit out and decided what I could do with this. This is a 12 page calendar style kit and the first photo is January, and the second photo is what I created with the page and the scraps (at the bottom of the photo) that I was unable to use. I netted 1 12 x 12 courthouse layout, 1 doll art journal page, 2 ATC cards, and 7 greeting cards. Not bad in my opinion. Close up of each project can be found in the appropriate threads for the posting for the challenges. Now I have 11 more pages to see what I can come up with.

Is there a Sketchy Saturday for today 08/07? If there is, I don't see it yet! The volunteer for this week may have forgotten...I know I rushed into the sign up thread to make sure it wasn't *me* who had forgotten Not that I've ever forgotten before. ahem. Also - MARIBETHR - fabulous use of that one pp! Your cards are beautiful; you really let that paper lead your creativity in many different directions! boymom5 - yes, I can imagine you are awfully busy! Summer is our quiet season. But September is flying up on me Good luck getting some of July into the albums. I am firmly in #1. We were fire lookouts on a Mountain all one summer with an outhouse (without a door) and water being brought to use weekly in a 10 gal can. No electricity. That was the enough for me. Um, that would be enough for anyone!!! Our provincial campgrounds have water taps every 100m, flush toilets and nice hot showers. I think what I enjoy about camping/tenting is being FORCED to be outside. Our family loves playing games/cards, reading, computers, surfing the internet. We didn't even have a fire 2 nights because we were just busy playing cards and nobody would have been sitting around the fire . If we had a cottage or RV, we would definitely sit INSIDE playing games/cards. Tenting forces us to stay outside and we at least hear the waves and birds and stay off our devices! We are back and largely unpacked, with the 3' tall mountain of laundry getting smaller. Nobody got sunburned. We didn't see the bear that was in the area (and sighted on our campsite the day before we arrived!) The weather was beautiful other than 1 downpour in the middle of the night. And my DH got a cold the day before we left and passed it through 8 out of 9 family members... sniffle, cough. First time I've been sick since covid hit! And yes, *definitely* a cold, not covid So, I'm gonna need a couple of down days to do laundry, nurse my cold, and I think some scrapbooking may fit in well there!

Your art doll pages and ATC cards are amazing, maribeth. Do you do a lot of exchanging of ATC cards. Today we had lunch with our DGD before she leaves for college. We ate at Zupa's and I thought of you!! kitbop, is everyone over the colds in your household? I hope so. When does school start in your area? Ours starts on Tues the 17th and we still haven't heard if it will be with masks or maskless. Does your DD need to leave home to go to college or is it local. She seems like a very busy girl! boymom5, I'm sure you have had a busy summer with sports. Are you looking forward to school and a more routine schedule?

We ate at Zupa's and I thought of you!! Oh how I enjoyed our lunch together, so wish I could make it back up to Utah again soon. I do not exchange my ATC I just give them away. I am actually trying to downsize my collections (of all kinds), but I enjoy making them so much that I want to continue to enjoy making the art, but I am happy just to give them away with nothing in return. I think I am going to do a series of greeting cards with an ATC pop up.

MARIBETHR Those cards look great! kitbop I hope you and all in your house are doing better! nylene I am looking forward to school beginning because of the routine, but it also brings such a busy time for us! I have two in public school and three I homeschool, so I’m just as busy! Add in more sports, groups and so on, we don’t have down time. But making a lot of memories to scrapbook! I got one page done in my album for July and I’m working on editing pictures to work on at We Create in the next few weeks.

We are mostly better - the cough lingers and I don't think we have all our energy back, but it truly was just a summer cold. I'm so nervous about school going back...DD starts university and we have a lot of prep work to do! Ahem...she does... but I know I'm going to have to be steering this canoe ride through the rapids for a few months boymom5, how did your kids come to be split between homeschool and public school? I got another layout done. It was a fair amount of work because I did the background from "scratch" with mixed media, but the layout is reasonably simple and doesn't look like the work it was!

kitbop- We have homeschooled from the beginning with all 5, but always keeping in mind to chose what is best for each child. When Covid hit, it closed a lot of social doors for my oldest who needs A LOT of social input. So he decided for social reasons to go try ps. So far it's been a fairly good fit for him in that and it helps me since I couldn't keep up with his desire to constantly be out! We decided for this year to try it with our YDS since he's struggling having me as mom, teacher, therapy instructor and so on. So I want to focus on just being mom for him. My other 2 who are school aged love homeschooling and want to stay home and the last is a toddler who won't leave my side. I'm making progress on picture editing, which honestly is my least favorite part. I enjoy editing certain pictures for fun, but not the abundance for an entire year! I'm looking forward to creating some pages soon!

I’m trying to get back into the swing of things. I did a couple pages in a mini book today and did a couple 12x12 pages (that are almost done) earlier this month.
My favorite non-essential supply is Nuvo drops. I use them in spurts but they are so easy and add a nice finishing touch.
My favorite inks recently have been distress inks, but that’s partially because they clean off of the stamps so nicely. I admit that I have a bit of a complex and I dislike when my clear stamps get ink stained. I’m working on getting over that, but it’s a challenge. I have a decent variety of the small distress ink pads and they are so easy to clean off of clear stamps. I am intrigued by the Catherine Pooler inks but I really don’t need any more stamp supplies. Of course I say that right before Stamptember!
As far as camping, I might be willing to try a camper or trailer but never have. Tent camping sounds like torture. If I’m taking a vacation, I want comfort which usually means a nice hotel and some local amenities. Admittedly I’m high maintenance these days!

MARIBETHR - wow, I'm crushing on the colours of the G45 cards you made! And your ATCs are lovely. Do you ever wonder who people in old photos were? ComplicatedLady - I'm a huge nuvo drops fan too. But recently I've struggled with colour matching to my project - if feels like my nuvo colours are just a little off for my project. I'll have to see how my new CP inks clean off the stamps...it's been a few weeks since I used them so I don't trust my memory - but I'm pretty sure they came off like the distress oxides wipe off, not immediate staining like dye inks.
