I mailed my tax return on 4/23/21 and still haven’t received my refund. When I check the status online, it says it can’t be found. For reference, I checked and my refund last year didn’t get deposited until 8/19/20.
I got my state refund a few weeks ago.
Anyone else still waiting for their refund?

Yes ! I filed online with Turbo on around May 7. It was immediately accepted. Nothing yet. When I check it says *being processed *. My filing fees with Turbo come out of my refund, but a month ago, they took it out of my direct deposit account. I paid for all the extra TT perks, but they tell me that it is now up to IRS.

The IRS is 13 million pieces of mail behind. They are hiring like mad but it takes a while to train people so they won’t be caught up for quite some time. (I’m also a fed in another agency so this is first hand knowledge)

IRS is also backlogged because any return submitted from end of January thru end of March that contained a 1099 from unemployment was held until June when the IRS started to amend these.
The new Federal tax law for 2020 unemployment wasn’t approved until mid-March and the forms and accounting websites were not changed until April to accommodate this tax break. IRS released a notice to all concerned not to amend; IRS would do it automatically.

My normal return came in two weeks, filed in Feb.

We just finally got out 2019 refund about a month ago — it was filed on Feb 2020. I’m not expecting to see our 2020 refund for at least a year from now.

The fact that the status says can't be found is kind of strange. Do you have proof they received it? I submitting ours electronically 4/23 so, I have proof it was received. The status says in process. I called two weeks ago and talked to a person. She did verify that it had been accessed by the IRS a couple of days earlier. She said to wait 3 more weeks.

Still waiting on the amended unemployment taxes. We filed early and of course paid taxes on DH's unemployment. We did receive our refund in a timely manner, this is just the taxes on unemployment we paid, but should not have. I just randomly check from time to time. it's not much, but I am aware of it.

Would you mind posting the number that you called and the procedure to talk to someone at the IRS please. Go to irs.gov Click on Help up at the top. Scroll down the page and the phone numbers are there. Just calling won't get you a live person. You just get the same info as on the website. You need to go through the phone menu in a certain way.

We got our deposit(refund) and debit (owe) about a week after filing back in April. We usually get a small refund from one and owe a small amount on other (can't remember which is which).

Don’t loose track of this. The average difference on these returns is about $1,000. Some people have gotten less and some people have gotten a lot more. I just received mine last week; filed mid-February.
