I've heard about Simon Says Stamp Stamptember but never really participated or shopped during that time. I see it's starting tomorrow and I'm excited to see some new things. I also thought it would be fun to have a thread to discuss it, as well! I'm curious how it works, though. I've read that some products are limited quantity. Do you have to pay separate shipping if you want items from all the different releases? Or do they bundle for the end of the month?

Last year was the first year I paid attention even though I had been shopping at SSS for years. I had so much fun I came here today looking for a thread....and here it is!

No, they don't combine shipping. Now you could try and order all that you want at the end of the month, but know that some might be sold out. But no, they won't let you order, then say wait to ship them all at the end of the month.

I've read that some products are limited quantity. Do you have to pay separate shipping if you want items from all the different releases? Or do they bundle for the end of the month? If only! They are very limited. Some sell out almost immediately and will never be restocked. You do have to pay separate shipping on each order, at least in the past, and it totally sucks. If you love something that no one else loves you can wait and order a couple of things together, but you risk missing out on the earlier release and of course you won't know if there will be something you want the next day or not. I think some people keep track of their fav companies so they can jump on those immediately. I believe certain things like Tim Holtz always sell out in record time. For the past couple of years I have decided just to ignore the whole thing. Too much FOMO manipulation, and shipping is a killer. And although I did buy an absolute favorite one year (a Concord &9th monster) C&9th released another version with slightly different monsters through their own shop later and I like that set even better. Luckily they work together nicely so I don't mind having both. I've think I've only sprung for one other Stamptember stamp and it wasn't a hit so I was able to order it along with the monsters, but it wasn't really as great as I thought from seeing samples. If you know you love a particular company and you can be clear headed in decision making (I cannot!) and afford the shipping it's kind of fun. But iirc the shipping can also take a while, adding insult to injury. You know, I can't conjure up an image of a single stamp set I regret missing out on buying. I know I missed some that sold out fast that were great and I was sad, but there's always more great new product coming out.

Usually by the time I get up in the morning, it's sold out. Must act quickly, if you want something. ETA: joblackford, I'm the same way. I feel crushed that I missed out on something, but then a week later, don't even remember what it was. Stamptember is definitely a mind game!

OMG I just scrolled through my crafty IG account feed and it was at least half stamptember. Multiple ads for the same SSS products from different influencers... gah. I'm going to have a lot harder time ignoring it completely this year unless I mute them all or avoid looking at that feed. I didn't realize I followed so many of their influencers.

I noticed this too! I do like a lot of the makers, they have some great examples. I like following along on Stamptember, but I've only placed an order once two years ago I think. I realize I buy from them once a year and know this because I did just order the September card kit bcz I liked both stamp sets with the sunflowers. I thought that was a good value. But can't stand the prices of their stamps/dies otherwise, plus they are slooow to ship. Nothing in the release is have to buy for me, so I will watch some of the manufacturers I like and maybe pick up one more set. While I like some halloween stuff, I wonder if it would even ship in time to play with it for this season. That peach ink color is intriguing, something I would add to box if I happen to order. I am really good at ignoring FOMO, I don't know why, but just never really feel like I'm missing out bcz I already have enough! I will just hoard free ideas from all the Insta makers!

I missed out on that kit, saw it too late, didn't really need it anyway, but the two big stamps were a good value. I just saw the bundle pricing for the stamps + dies sold outside of the kit and they're $65! each! sorry, nope. I didn't look at the cost without dies but I'm going to practice some of that ENOUGH you mentioned. The ink sets look interesting but I don't have space to start a new ink collection so I'm not going to worry about the amazing features and pretty color sets. Send me some of your antiFOMO!

Jennifer McGuire has a video showing all the new SSS branded release. I'm about half way thru and there's nothing giving me FOMO but these are not "once it's sold out it's gone" products either.

I really wanted the XL greeting set with dies but I couldn't pull the trigger at $69.99 - wow! I do see it's sold out though now so I guess the price point isn't a barrier for everyone. For the SSS release I ended up ordering the large etched leaf die (slimline size), the large Happy Birthday Die, and the peel apart leaves background stamp. I'm curious to see the collab sets. I didn't order any last year but I also didn't see any that I had to have either.

I was very shocked by some of the prices! Even if I can afford something, I'm not usually willing to spend the money if I don't equate the dollar amount to the value. $70 for a set of typed words is very steep as I'm not seeing the same effort put into those as an image set an artist spent time drawing and creating. Luckily there's nothing I feel I really want badly. I was hoping there would be challenges, prizes, etc. instead of just shopping. Has there historically been any of that?

I can't find this stamp+die set, who's collaboration is it?
Last year I got the TH snarky cat for my friend as a Christmas present and I was quite upset that he came out with a different one , like a month later for $23 instead of $30. SSS charges tax and shipping so at the end it was $40.

SSS charges tax and shipping so at the end it was $40. Not sure which one you were referring to but today was just the SSS branded release - tons of new products in their own line, no collab. I believe tomorrow is a big blog party (whatever that means) and then the collab releases start the next day. ETA: If it was the XL one mentioned above it's this one: www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/simon-says-stamps-and-dies-xl-birthday-greetings-set443xbg-stamptember-set443xbg?sscid=91k5_13xsu&utm_source=ShareASale&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=385733That TH experience was similar to my C&9th monster experience. I don't remember the timing or prices but the SSS release was not better than the C&9th's own release, if anything the one I got directly from the company was the better one.

I was hoping there would be challenges, prizes, etc. instead of just shopping. Has there historically been any of that? I'm not sure if there is much of that. It's mostly just a massive release of products and influencers showing how to use each day's products. Tomorrow I believe they're having a thing on the blog, maybe they'll have giveaways. But so far I've only seen the "golden bone" tickets that you can possibly win if you buy something this month. The prize is pretty cool - "an assortment" from each new SSS collection for a year. www.simonsaysstampblog.com/Found their challenge blog here, it's not stamptember specific, to my knowledge www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?cat=1

In the live last week, someone asked in the chat if combining order was possible, and they said no, but it is something they are working toward.
I think they would sell more if they did a hold and mail for the month. I’m sure it would be difficult logistically. I just know that with no discounts (hardly ever) and having to pay shipping each time no matter how much money I spend, I don’t order as much as I would if they had some sort of perk or free shipping threshold, etc.
I did order a few things today. I wanted the Spooky Eyes stamp, but it must have sold out almost immediately.

I wanted the Spooky Eyes stamp, but it must have sold out almost immediately. I agree about combining shipping. I think it's especially hard to pay $7 shipping on just a stamp (possibly multiple times), which could be shipped non-Priority much cheaper. (I love that Ellen Hutson offers this option.) I know they said it's not possible now, but once it is, another option would be to be able to bundle by week. This way, there wouldn't be a HUGE backlog of orders that need to be fulfilled, but if customers wanted multiple items in one week, they could bundle it together. That might be a good compromise for SSS logistically. From their perspective, it would also save on packaging costs and have the added benefit of being more environmentally conscious. Last year was the first year I paid a lot of attention to Stamptember, but I never bought anything. I have to admit that I like the excitement of a new item being released daily, as it adds something to look forward to, even if it's just window shopping. I remember listening to an interview with Heidi Crowl (I think it was this one) where she talked about how September is usually the slowest sales month for SSS, so she came up with the idea of Stamptember and it was a huge success for their company financially. From a marketing standpoint, I have to say that turnaround is quite impressive!

I think logistically it would be very challenging to even do weekly shipments. I mean how would your store all the packages. It would be a nightmare. I'm sure during stamptember they get thousands of orders. So you would start and pull an order and then wait.
I guess they could not pull it and have the system not print it until you want to ship. But their inventory system could not glitch at all or you would be missing products.

It would definitely be a shift in their warehouse, but ACOT allows you to order non pre-order with pre-order and their system works very well in my experience. I’ve never gotten a wrong or missing item in all of the orders I get from them. Hopefully whatever they come up with that will work for their setup will be mutually beneficial. I totally agree about not having the non-priority shipping, and I hate paying more for shipping (who doesn’t?!). PTI is the same way, and I’ve definitely passed on ordering from them for the same reason.

I love stamptember because of all the cardmaking videos that come out. It’s fun to know during my morning coffee there will be something creative to watch. I never buy anything because I’ve been crafting for decades! During the pandemic shut down last year, I just ran out of tape and glue.
It’s a great marketing event for SSS and fun to see what’s being released.

So I went thru some of the blog hop to see what the giveaways are... So if you order today you can choose, I think, only one free code. There are usually a few choices. So far I find:
blending brush glue stick tacky glue glue/tape runner set XL stamp set 6x8 - looks good ink cube set - 4 colors rainbow mesh zipper bag snowflake stamp set 6x8 set of watercolor cards - sweater weather large happy birthday die wood mount warm hugs stamp
I think that may be it...I didn't go thru them all. Now to debate if I want any of those enough to place an order... I think I would rather wait for the collabs.

Do you remember who had the snowflake stamp set? I wrote down all the codes when I was hopping (I can get obsessive about these things, lol). If there's a price in parentheses, it means there's a minimum purchase required, otherwise, it's with any purchase amount. Hope this helps! CBM2PG4 teal blending brush NBY8L42 big happy birthday die ($30) or Q928NNU F7L2S29 dot runner w/ 2 refills ($30) MPU8V8R craft tacky glue 54UFL9C glue stick 66ERBKH rainbow hybrid ink cube set ($30) 9E35TYE XL birthday greetings 6x8 stamp ($100) 2F3WA7Q mesh zipper bag 3HP222P Suzy's sweater weather watercolor cards RENGGZ8 snowflake season 6x8 stamp ($100) VSX9A98 warm hugs wood mount stamp ($30)

Regarding the blog hop, there were plenty of beautiful cards, but two of them were really striking (to me), so I thought I'd share those for anyone interested. There's this one with a truly stunning background that looks almost magical. https://www.instagram.com/p/CTUpjxvrPP7 And this one, which is all my pastel vintage Christmas dreams come true.
