I would never have guessed that blanket was made with variegated yarn. Right? I made, shoot, more than 30 Daphne throws last year. And while I loved the ones I made with these stripes, I got tired of manipulating the color breaks to fall where I wanted them in the stitches. So... I decided to use them up a different way before I made yet another with them. Daphne

You've multiplied them 10 times over! Oh, haha. I thought it said 300. Even 30 is a lot by my slow standards.

A trip into Knitology in Traverse City yielded this yarn. And isn't cute how every skein of custom yarn came with a pretty stitch marker?

Gorgeous yarn jeremysgirl! I'm partial to a pink & gray combination. I was really caught between this one and a pretty autumn green/orange combo. But in the end...pink! I love pink!

They showed this yarn used in a very pretty knitted shawl. I really love how it looked. I will adapt it for crochet.

Today is my favorite part of vacation. Going to the yarn store to pick out my vacation yarn. What a fabulous idea, and look what followed you home! I just started my vacation yarn tradition. My friend told me she buys sock yarn at each location she travels to and makes herself a pair of vacation socks. I've decided to visit yarn stores on vacation and buy something custom and make a shawl each time. Here's my shawl from Gulf Shores AL.

Here's my shawl from Gulf Shores AL. Nice! My mom used to pick up (and do) little cross stitch kits on various trips and I love them so much.

I bought yarn in July when I was in Destin, and last weekend, I took a trip to Wisconsin. Unfortunately, the only yarn shop I found nearby wasn't opened when I was there. I am still going to look for some unique yarn I can make a shawl out of that reminds me of that trip. It will probably be something in shades of green because that is one thing I notice not only there, but on my drive there, is how deep green everything was. I can't wait to see what you make out of that lovely pink and gray yarn!

I took a quick photo of what I've done so far. I have a lot of middle tones, and I'm using some as lights. Sorry, my lighting still isn't good. Your squares look so good with all the design inside each one. Great job!

Your shawls looks so pretty and the yarn you shared earlier looks great, too. I have taken a break from crocheting but I might give it a go later this year.

I've just ordered the Attic 24 kit, please keep everything crossed that it turns up this time! I'm still completely mojoless but I'm hoping having a parcel of squishy goodness sparks something in me. Did you order the yuletide? I did I had an email this morning to say it's been dispatched, I'm feeling very excited about it.

I finally finished the baby blanket I have been working on for months. LOL These are definitely not colors I would have chosen for a baby blanket, but it is for my new great niece, and these are the colors her mama chose. That came out beautiful. And I admit I'm surprised because those aren't colors I would have out together either.

Ok so here's the deal. You saw my yarn I bought yesterday well it was a kit. It was designed to make this shawl: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/float-7And I got the shawl pattern hard copy and download, as well. I saw it in store and it was stunning. So I think I'm going to knit it. That's right, I think I am going to try knitting. Just because this shawl was so beautiful. My much advanced knitter friend said she can walk me through this and once I get going it will be easy peasy. I'm not so sure. My knitting skills are very dusty and they weren't even that good to begin with. But I want to try. What do you guys think?

I think once you have figured out making the clusters, it won’t be too difficult. The rest is just plain knitting.

I just kept looking at this pattern last night and I got to see it live in the store. And it's just made for this yarn. I couldn't pass on at least trying to make it happen.

Go for it jeremysgirl. I really think you could do it and there’s nothing to lose if it goes pear shaped, you’ll still have the yarn to use again. I saw that pattern on FB yesterday. I’ll see if I can find the post because there were some interesting pictures.

Nope, I can't find the pictures. I think they were colour pooling of a different type using that yarn. This is probably mentioned on the pattern, jeremysgirl , but if not, the designer has a tutorial here for the flower clusters on the pretty shawl.

I'll need to get with my friend and get the basics down and ball my yarn. And then this should help me get going.

That shawl is fantastic, and I can see why you want to make it with that yarn. It's perfect. I would go for it. Most of it is just basic knit/purl, and once you figure out how to do the little bobbly part, it seems like it wouldn't be that hard. Have you ever knitted before? I knitted before I taught myself to crochet, but I was always too chicken to make anything other than a scarf or dishcloths because I hate fixing mistakes. LOL
